Perfect when you accidentally shrink your favorite sweater (I'm not the only one who forgets to separate the clothes that can go in the dryer from the ones that can't, right?)
DIY Galaxy Jeans
Using a tutorial from The Sun was High, I finally was able to produce a pair of galaxy-washed jeans (that look infinitely better than the printed jeggings at the store, in my humble opinion). I used an old pair of dark blue (not black, much to my disappointment) jeans that I don't wear often, but didn't want to get rid of (I got them years ago for $3 from Wal-Mart! there really wasn't a reason for me to not keep them).
First of all, if you look at this tutorial and think "I'm not artistic, I could never do that," you are dead wrong. I'm not decent at art, although I do have a creative streak, and these jeans really look galaxy-esque - even up close!
Secondly, when you use bleach on dark blue fabrics, the dye turns light blue instead of the orange in the tutorial. It's not a problem, just something to consider.
So, into the nitty-gritties: Like I said, I used a pair of old dark blue boot-cut jeans that I got for dirt-cheap a few years ago. Instead of the acrylics mentioned in the tutorial, I used fabric paints - the same brand I used for my floral print jeans, which was just the cheap brand from Michael's. Because I needed to make orange, I ended up using all the primary colours to complete this project. I also kept the area around my hips and butt relatively galaxy-free, so that it wouldn't hinder my ability to wear them.
My stars didn't come out as well as I would have liked them to, but overall the result was subtle. I like subtle - I really dislike the in-your-face galaxy prints that I can buy in store. I've worn these a couple times, and I've put them through the washer and dryer: cold, on low. The best part is, no issues!
To-Do Tuesday
Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I have a new page (here!) that has a list of projects I'm working on. This week I'm working on Galaxy Jeans and, maybe, probably, the tulle lampshade.
Make a snake. Given the chance, some farm and outdoor cats do kill snakes, so it's an innate instinct to chase after a snake. To make a snake for kitty, take at least three toilet paper rolls (or if you want a bigger snake, paper towel rolls). Find a piece of string that is long enough to be fed through all the rolls and glue it inside each of the paper towel rolls to connect them. This allows the snake to bend flexibly. Cover the entire snake with green cloth and decorate as wished. Leave an opening and one end so you can place treats inside for your kitty to discover.
My boyfriend and I recently got a kitten, who has successfully torn a hole in his favorite rat toy (and is subsequently littering our apartment with fuzz). So I did what I always do, and typed in "DIY cat toys" into Google. Something tells me Sir Reginald von Bartleby is going to love this. (Source) Bonus: it has some easy DIY cat toys that are pretty inexpensive
Absolutely adorable! Upcycle a ribbon dispenser into a power cord organizer. Be careful, though! Battery packs, like the ones for the iDevices pictures, can run really hot - make sure you only keep the lid on when they're not in use. Article found here. Personally, I plan on trying to make one out of a spare shoe box.

I am all about recycling and I love ideas like this. Why spend money on a gift bag or a tote when you can up-cycle products that you have at home to make them :)
My boyfriend keeps telling me to finish off the cereal. He's extra going to hate that I keep the boxes.

Finally knocked something of my to-do list! I’ve been dying to do this tutorial by Trinkets in Bloom. I didn't follow the tutorial to the letter (she put the print all over, I kept it to the side seams). I scored the jeans from my sister (read: stole from my sister a couple years ago, then got the okay to keep them), and never really worn them. They're bright. Something about bright jeans doesn't sit well with me. That, and they are the perfect background for the floral. The thing that takes the longest is cutting out the design. I hate using my Xacto, mostly because my hand likes to cramp, so I spaced it out over a couple days. Which, for me, is a couple weeks. Because of this, I only use one stencil for both sides. Painting takes less time. I did one side right before my five hour shift, which also gave the stencil enough time to dry. Even so, the painting wasn't nearly as clean on the second side. Since I'm going for a girly-grunge look in my upcycles, I didn't mind (you might be able to see the splotches where I went off pattern. Hint: they're rectangle, like the sponge I used), but if you're going for factory-clean edges, I strongly recommend prepping multiple stencils. I used printer paper, too (no card stock, sad face!) which does a good job of letting the paint bleed through.
For quick wall flare, frame a pretty bag. At the New Year, Charlotte Russe had some inspirational quotes on their bags with a popping color. I had this frame leftover from something I stopped wanting to hang. If your edges show, though, try to do a better job than I did at cutting.
DIY 3 Strap Bra - upcycle your strapless bras!
Girls Guide To… posted this tutorial this morning, and provided a link to the original. This came right in time for the warm weather in my area~! The only problem I have is I never use strapless bras (they never fit right on me and always fall, waah), so I don’t have any on hand. But this tutorial has given me a reason to keep an eye out for a cheap one [in my size]!

So we all know that those big Bath and Body Works candles are expensive. But they come in these beautiful jars, so why not re-use them after you have thoroughly enjoyed the candle?
My family owns loads of jar candles like this and some of them are on their last legs and dying to be thrown out. But this way, we can keep the jars and use them for something useful, like cotton balls or q-tips or even hair accessories.
On pinterest, I saw another pinner who used mod podge and glitter to glitter-fy one of the candle jars and it looks gorgeous!

This has been lingering on my to-do list for too long.
I have a lot of sunglasses (not pictured: my favorite pairs). I also have a really small room with not enough space for readily available storage. Feeling inspired, and in need of keeping my sunglasses from getting scratched, I concocted this.
I scored the hanger from my grandmother. It’s a multi-tier skirt hanger. The ribbon was leftover from a Christmas event ($3.99 from Michael’s). The hook is a Command hook, which I’ve acquired tons of through my many living situations, and the sunglasses I’ve collected over the years.
