A Greek icon of the Mother of God of the Unfading Flower.
As often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

blessed Pentecost, friends :)
As truly as God is our Father, so truly God is our Mother.
Julian of Norwich, trans. Fr. John-Julian, OJN
I really feel that xtianity is the religion for born yearners. like we will not teach you to overcome desire, buddhism is clearly the superior path for that. we will teach you to identify the root desire beneath all your other desires and to spend your life longing for it to the point of tears until it breaks u and remakes u in its own image.

for Iran, the Iranian people, and all innocent people caught in the crossfire of the united state's and its genocidal proxy-state's bloodlust, find nothing but peace, safety, and security. may the united states and its proxy know God's justice. may They show them the consequence of needless bloodshed and disregard for human life
going to make an attempt at getting up before sunrise to chant tenebrae (shoutout to the author of the above pdf) this year because I’ve never done it before and I might not have this much free time to do it again. also looks like I’ll be acolyting the whole triduum which I honestly can’t remember if I’ve done before? but I’m looking forward to either way. If you’re reading this, I’ll be praying for you 💜
The bourgeois culture thus changed religion instead of changing the world. We protestants reduced the symbols of our religion and shrank them down to our selves, to our personalities. We used the religious notions and symbols for one purpose: to serve the highest value of the bourgeois culture, namely individualism. The starting point of modern economic activity is the individual entrepreneur, and capitalism has managed to eliminate almost any form of cooperative working and possession. Mainstream religion had to bless this process. Thus religion became a tool in the hands of the bourgeois class and functioned only to console the saddened, to enrich the personal life, to give meaning to the individual. Sin became my personal failure, the cross was my unique suffering, and resurrection my individual immortality.

how can we recover what’s lost in Eden?
you cannot recover; only relapse
an image from last night’s homily that I can’t get out of my head: God in the garden as a small lonely child, running and crying out to the humans asking “where are you?” wanting only to be held by them after they have pulled away from him. again and again calling for them. until finally a girl from Nazareth answers “here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word” and takes God into her arms again
