OOC: A Change of Pace
It is never easy to end something. Your heart beats faster when you think about everything good. You smile or cry or laugh at the memories made. And sometimes that can sustain you.
But there comes a point when even memories are not enough.
It is with all the love and admiration for the creators on WrA that @wardennerd and I started The Royal Courier and that love has kept me going for the last year.
But real life and this increasing feeling of it not being fun anymore have me wanting to stop. I know the paper is important and helpful to so many of you. And I truly appreciate every single interaction that I have gained from doing this for the last two years and two months.
It is time. Time OOCly for me to stop pressuring myself to get to every event and write about it and stressing when I can’t. Time for me to OOCly stop worrying about the queue and what might be in it. Time for me to OOCly find joy in RP again.
I have an IC plan for this change. I’m not retiring Risri. I love her too much. But she is so much more than the paper. I will be writing about the transition over the next few weeks on her blog. ICly it will unfold and result in her selling the paper.
So what does it mean for @the-royal-courier? OOCly, there are some changes coming to the paper, starting today.
After talking with my team, here is what we decided to do about the site and the paper:
We will continue to reblog event and guild advertisements.
We will continue to welcome any submitted stories and, after editing, post them.
We may occasionally post a report if one of the team is inspired to write.
We will continue to maintain the Business and Guild Directory. The updates will occur monthly.
We may only post once or twice per day, or not at all on certain days.
We will no longer post the event listing on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Single event posts may be reblogged on those days.
We will no longer be attending events with the sole purpose of writing about them. (Some of the members may stay in the guild and may attend events for their own pleasure.)
The site will stay up and I will still maintain it.
I will be passing the GM to an alt I do not play, so the guild will still exist.
ICly the paper will still exist, and people can still feel free to say they read about things in it.
I will not be passing The Royal Courier off to anyone to continue. If you would like to run a newspaper, I will support you, but you will need to do so under your own name and with your own content.
I still have some interviews and things in my documents that I’m going to try to finish up and get posted to the site before Risri officially leaves the paper, but I am not going to pressure myself to do them.
It has been an honor and a pleasure serving this wonderful, creative community. I thank every single one of you for your support and the countless hours of RP I have participated in because of the paper.
To my team. I love you all and appreciate all of your support with this change. @skystoneseat @savianblackwood @suzisnapshot
It is time. This is not a goodbye, but a “let’s go this way now”.
If you have questions, you can send me a message @risrielthron.
(So sad to see another great part of the community die. GL in all you do, @risrielthron. From all of us in the True Dawn, we /salute you.)
