Coast to coast
We made it!
Somehow after several months of living in Oregon we haven't managed to make it to the coast. That changes today! We are headed to check out the Pacific Ocean, will keep you updated on our adventures today. Alex
Hiked up Spencer's butte with a few friends. Great views from the peak. Also there was a rainbow.
Found a great little park just a short walk from our apartment.
Visitors to Oregon make everything awesome
We went to a park/trail called Spencer Butte 15 minutes from our home. It was a trek up.
The first picture is our rug and the second is what I am reading. Not pictured is wine...got to take advantage of being in wine country. -Laura
some interesting things that I thought I would make you guys aware of:
Alex said he saw a wild turkey cross the street when he was driving. Thats not the funniest part....it used the cross walk.
I went to visit Alex in his studio and I counted no less than 30 ducks in the road/parking lot. I spent at least 5 minutes with the little guys. They could care less about cars coming.
Also light up neon bicycles at night.
We have been inside a yurt. It was cool.

Got pizza at a place called Sizzle Pie tonight in downtown Eugene. The slices were bigger than our heads.
So here we are.
Sorry I haven't made an update since arriving in Oregon. I've been caught up in getting settled and with all the things to do. Everything's really exciting and I'm loving it here. I'm getting set up in my studio and starting to meet my fellow grad students. Everyone's been super friendly and helpful and welcoming. I will be occasionally updating this blog with the fun things we do around Eugene and in Oregon. The school quarter is about to start and I'm going to get busy, but I will take time to write up what's been happening from time to time. I can keep you guys updated on what's happening in school but I think that might be boring. If you want to keep up with what's happening in my studio practice, I would recommend you follow me on Instagram, my username there is: alexanderwurts. That's where I'll be posting progress pics for the studio, bite-sized updates, etc. I'll try to do that fairly frequently. -Alex
Alex and I found this art supply store/community center that is amazing. I ended up paying a dollar or so for this yarn and some colored paper. They end up taking donations (leftovers from people's art projects and such) and sell them for next to nothing (they are nonprofit so it goes to a good cause). So much paper and materials to choose from! Alex picked up some half used tubes of Golden as well.
A few days ago at the Saturday Farmers Market in downtown. We picked up some succulents and produce.
No air conditioning, no problem
So you’ve made it, What Now?
That’s a good question and one we aren’t sure of the answer. We figure we would play it by ear, and update you guys on what happens in this town. Think of it as a postcard, updating you on our adventures....by the way, if you guys are one of our trusted loyal people and would like our mailing address, ask us (but don’t spam us as a mean, horrible prank, okay?) we can exchange letters, etc.
stay fresh, my southern loves
-Laura
