Recently I was looking at some porch swings to be able to enjoy the outdoors while I was not doing various projects or tasks. The problem was, the swings were pretty costly if you were to go out and buy a prebuilt one.

So, I looked on youtube until I found one that I liked (I will be the first to admit, I am not a carpenter). That’s where I found this cool design. The design was only for the swing, but since I really did not have a place to hang it, I had to improvise by building the frame work to hang the swing. It is really nice to be able to swing out side and enjoy the days in the shade.

I did build the top for so shade, not for a rainy day. It does the job quite well and was pretty inexpensive to build. I figured if I could build it, anyone could.

You can also print out the blueprint so you can have a copy if you wish HERE I will say tho, for the half-lap cuts, I did not have a table saw and dado blades, so I used my miter saw to cut the angles.
