Finding your voice
It’s something everyone says you should do. Be yourself. Your authentic self. Figure out who that is and step into it. Then speak it out loud for all to hear. Your voice, your singular perspective, is what the world needs to hear.
But how exactly do you find yourself and your voice? And once you find it, what will or do you say?
I keep trying to find the answers to these questions. Who is me? Or who am I? What do I have to say? How will I say it?
A friend recently mentioned that the key is vulnerability--moving toward that thing about yourself which maybe makes you uncomfortable. But first, I guess, you have to build the courage to move towards that vulnerability. To move and to act despite the fear.
I’m not there yet. But maybe I’m moving closer.

I feel obligated to reblog this every time it shows up in my dash
No bragging, just 100% floored and grateful. Work hard, maintain a positive attitude, and believe that anything can happen.
So I reblogged this exactly a week ago because I thought it was funny and uh lo and behold, a family friend wrote me a big ol’ check just to help me out of a tough financial spot AND my bank refunded me $32 for fees they’d originally taken out. SO UH YEAH. Reblogging this again in hopes that it brings equally good fortune to my followers.
Sure why not? Jobs bring in money and prosperity…

Hand lettering historical quotes is my new hobby. Starting with W.E.B DuBois from “The Souls of Black Folk” circa 1903

You think ‘Okay, I get it, I’m prepared for the worst’, but you hold out that small hope, see, and that’s what fucks you up. That’s what kills you.

I know you need me, it’s there in your exhaustion, it’s there in your joy.
