I Love Ginkgo seeds

Oy… how can something be so delicious yet soo stinky and somewhat poisonous at the same time? Growing up, I’ve always loved ginkgo seed, especially in my eastern desserts. They usually sell them pre-shelled in vacuumed plastic at chinese markets. However, I didn’t realize that they were actually poisonous until I looked it up. These greenish yellowish seeds come from the ginkgo biloba tree which is native to China. They contain  4’-O-methylpyridoxine (MPN)  which is heat resilient ( can’t be killed with heat).  Apparently only, the female tree produce fruits, but I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between tree gender. The fruits are fine most of the time when they are still on the tree, but once they begin to ripen and fall of the tree, they are like flying stink bombs and I mean it seriously.

I recall wearing gloves and collecting the seeds when I was little with my father and an old lady who was a close family friend. If I remember correctly, the scent from the mush of ripen ginkgo fruits were somewhat similar to rotten trash. I believe it was even worst than durians, to which my family loves. The funny thing was, the ginkgo trees were near the city courthouse and I swore people thought we were either crazy or doing some sort of community service.

Although I’ve read various warnings about eating only 5-10 and sometimes 20, I swear I’ve eaten way more than that at once over the years, but I’m still ok (or so I think). I don’t think I’m going to stop eating them anytime soon, but maybe I won’t be poppin’ them like popcorn now that I know they are somewhat poisonous. 

Fun fact: Did you know a Ginkgo tree that was near ground zero of Hiroshima actually survived the bombing and is still living today? Now that’s one tough tree.

My First of World Problems...

I'm running out of things to watch... Well not really. Just need some suggestion to plan out what to watch next.

For those who don't know me, I'm a drama/TV series addict enthusiast. I've just finished I Hear Your Voice, Monstar, Female Prime Minister, KO One 2, and Bad Boys J this week. I'm still watching  Just You, Love Again, Moone Boy, and New Girl but these are like filler shows. I watch 'em only when I'm bored or waiting for other show. I'm excited for Green Scalpal next week (Not particularly for the plot but for *eyecandy* Joowon). So..Any suggestions?

Monstar Ending Review/Rant

The ending was super rushed and disappointing. I was expecting somewhat more, based on how amazing the first few episodes were. I just didn't like how everything was revealed and solved within the last 30 min of the show. They should have developed the romance between Nana and Sun Woo more. It was too wishy washy with Sun Woo and Seyi. In fact, I didn't like the character development of Seyi at all. As the show went on, my liking of her character decreased. She likes Seol Chan but was always together with Sunwoo. Why give false hope? As for the relation between Seol Chan and his mother, it was somewhat confusing. From what I see, he was adopted, given back to the orphanage, then re-adopted. The "reuniting" scene with his mother was nice but I would've like to see one with Seol Chan and Sunwoo. I mean, they were once best friends, right? And who can deny the potential bromance? Although I don't like Eunha's imagination scenes, the one in the last ep with Ma joon hee, Hyorin, and Jae rok being cute sent me rolling on the floor bed , laughing my 엉덩이 off. I gotta say, he's the second evil Ma Joon that I can't bring myself to hate. ( First being Joowon as Majoon in Baker King). Anyways, Noh Min woo's cameo at the end was nice. Maybe I'm being bias, but All for One probably won just because of Minwoo lol. Overall, this show up to the last few ep was pretty good. I'm just going to imagine the ending never happened and extend the show in my head to have a love triangle between Ma joon, Seyi and Seol Chan. Oh god, I'm turning into Eunha. Anywho...(imitating Franklin Mumford) I give this show a 6 out of 10. It would've been an 8 or 9 if the story would've developed better. I wish there were more episodes. Perhaps a season 2? Hmm...

Sadness

It’s always disappointing when you’re expecting a great voice acting cast for your favorite anime, and then realize they totally botched it up. Dubs are always on target, but subs sometimes fuck it up.
