hey you know who can tend to get caught up in pedantic stuff? including spelling and grammar?

autistic people

so i know it can be irritating, or even really gross (ableist, for example) to see people harping on “proper” spelling and grammar

but if you see someone doing that, maybe take a minute to think that instead of just being a prick,

they could be clinging to the rules and structure of language (even irrelevant or outdated rules) because that’s just how their brain works

(of course if they’re being gross- classist, racist, ableist, etc.- they’re still at fault and should be set straight)

not that i don’t appreciate the thought, but i’m pretty sure being allistic isn’t a privilege on its own

like, if you’re allistic, i don’t think you need to put that in your about or anything?

all it means is not autistic

it’s not a separate privilege from being neurotypical

so if you’re neurotypical, just say so

and if you’re not, there’s no need to say that you’re specifically allistic

allistic people don’t have power over us if they’re still neurodivergent. neurotypicals are the ones who oppress us.

(of course that doesn’t mean that allistic nd people can’t be ableist or gross towards us, but that’s not the point here)
