Immediately, Apolloâs eyes narrowed into slits at the snarky remark from the other. He was a lot things but an uptight twatâŠwell, okay. Maybe the insult wasnât that far off. He was definitely uptight and probably a twat 60% of the time. 100% of the time when a Davenport was involved. Something about that family got under his skin. He wasnât entirely sure why. Maybe because it seemed the Davenport children were free of restraints and able to be themselves even if they were bloody annoying. Oliver was, much to Apolloâs dismay, was a bubble of happy energy that Apollo wished he had inside of him. Or maybe he really despised the Davenports because their father was dead and his father was alive.
âI donât remember asking for your help,â He muttered bitterly under his breath. The last thing he wanted was to owe Orion a favor but on the other hand he needed his jacket back. He watched as Orion walked past him and into the alleyway. Apollo stood stubbornly there with his foot tapping against the ground and he felt the heavy decision weighing on his shoulders. Go home without the jacket or let Orion help him. âFuck,â He muttered under his breath before he followed after the Gryffindor, the feeling of regret following him.
âDo you think Iâm going to go around advertising that I willingly spent time with you?â He set his books down on the ground before entering the tight space of the alleyway. He saw the look Orion shot him and Apollo wondered exactly how the fellow Gryffindor was going to get both of them into the store. From the limited knowledge he had of the Davenports, he knew that their father had been a well known Auror. Two older brothers had followed in his footsteps. Clearly Orion knew some tricks of the trade that would allow them to enter into a store undetected.
Questions. Apollo nervously chewed on the inside of his cheek. This was what he hated most about being around people especially when one of his secrets were involved. But over the years, Apollo learned how to dance around these types of questions. âDonât worry about it,â He spat out as he watched Davenport check the windows. He should have thought about that long before Orion showed up. âIâm  only taking whatâs mine.â The windows were a no go and Apollo let out a heavy sigh which was followed by a harsh snort at the mention of black market shit and their fellow Gryffindor, Jack Barrett. It was true that he was well known for dealing in all sorts of things but Apollo was a natural at distrust and even if he admitted to owning anything dark magic or black market, he wouldnât get it from a fellow student here. Well, except for the one blonde Ravenclaw he did happen to trust. âI donât like dealing with amateurs,â Apollo replied and left it at that. Let Orion think whatever the hell he wants.
Each window that didnât open sent a wave of dread through Apolloâs body and decreased his  hope for getting his jacket back that night. Cassio was going to kill him if he didnât get that potion back in his possession. And on top of that, heâd probably stop supplying Apollo with any. After being on the potion for weeks, he couldnât imagine a life without it. It truly was helping him cope with everything that had happened. It allowed him to be more open with Isaac. It helped him fight back the anger he felt at his father for the unbreakable he was forced to make. Not having itâŠ
His head snapped in Orionâs direction and Apollo realized that he was talking to him. âWhat?â He asked, head tilted to the side. Oh. Right. âYeah..Iâll goâŠcheck.â He walked along the building but saw nothing. Until almost the very end. Apollo bent down to examine the window. He pulled at it and easily it opened. Instant relief washed over him and Apollo grinned. He was going to get his jacket back. He was going to get Cassioâs potion back and then he could dump Orionâs sorry arse and get a drink.Â
Apollo pulled out his wand and pointed it at the cracked window. âEvanesco!â He muttered and watched as the entire window vanished before him. His gaze shifted from the now open space to Orion and then back again. This was his shot. He didnât hesitate and he definitely didnât wait for Orion. It was better for him to do this alone anyways. Without warning, Apollo slid his feet through the window and vanished inside of the store.
Though Apollo was younger than Orion heâd often reminded him of Otto. It had to be a first born thing. At least that was the logic he was going to go with. And donât even get him started on the war between the walls. Half of the time Orion only practiced in the dorm to piss Apollo off. Whatever the hell Apollo got into or didnât. It was hard telling and it didnât help they seemed to keep the same hours. Clearly neither of them were very good at wrestling their demons.Â
Orion peered up at the roof while the other checked the windows. If he had to they could try that. Heâd really hoped that wasnât the case. Last thing he needed was to raise a ruckus and bring attention to himself. Oliver was already suspicious and he wasnât exactly sure how long he could fend off the rest of the family from finding out why he was here. Orion swallowed hard, his chest feeling a little tight at the thought of the their reactions. More so of Oliverâs and their sisterâs. He was meant to be a big brother, someone to be modeled after and clearly heâd failed in that respect. But to fail them like that? He wasnât sure he would survive the embarrassment of it. It was hard enough seeing that look in his motherâs eye.Â
Yep. Just like Otto. Orion shook his head and sighed a lot louder than heâd intended to. If he thought for a second that he wasnât going in with him, he was severely mistaken. Not to mention that heâd helped him get that far. A small part of him was curious to see what was so damn important that heâd have that sort of reaction. Surely it couldnât have been money. He knew the Maddox family was far from hurting as his own had been. So what is it? Without a second thought Orion got down to his hands and knees, surveying the immediate inside of the building. âBleedinâ tosser.â He muttered and proceeded in the very same way Apollo had.Â
He couldnât make Apollo out in the darkness which only caused him to grow more annoyed. âYouâd better hurry the hell up. Not getting caught out here for you.â He knew damn well he was going to have to help him back out of there. But a part of him was enjoying that thrill too. While they didnât always see eye to eye, doubt they ever would, it didnât hurt to have a moment and for once it wasnât Oliver giving him a hard time.Â
Orion pushed up from the ground and took to leaning in against the wall. The less conspicuous the better. Though he wasnât exactly sure what someone would think if theyâd see him this far down the lane. Whatever.Â
