I DID IT.
I finished everything that needed to be done, besides cleaning out drafts. but there are only 447 of those left out of what was 883. so that’s pretty okay, considering everything else I was doing meanwhile. I can’t believe I’m actually finally done with emma. I can’t wait to start her up again! I’ll make a promo thing later. sooooo.
I AM BACK!

Sometimes I’m terrified of my heart; of its constant hunger for whatever it is it wants. The way it stops and starts.

“Gotcha!”
Emma was a mess, even by common standards.
Her dress was torn and streaked with mud from barreling through the forest in pursuit of the duckling. Her hair had been pinned up when she began her chase, but now draped down her back in messy blonde curls. She had leapt over several rocks and fallen logs, occasionally snagging her hem, but she ignored the rips.
“Dumb duck,” the princess muttered, scooping it up and nuzzling her face with its. "You really are trouble, aren't you? Let's get you home." Emma turned to head back to the castle when she realized—the tiny bird's winding route had led her off trail. She didn't know this part of the forest. Which meant one thing. She was lost.
“Seriously?” Emma groaned. She clutched the duckling close to her chest, turning in every direction. Nothing was familiar. Not even faintly.
She had been circling in the same spot, in the middle of a large clearing, for quite some time, trying to figure out how to get home when she heard it. Footsteps. Someone was nearby. More than likely, it was someone she didn't know. At least, she hoped it was a someone—and not a something.
The steps grew closer, headed in frozen Emma's direction. Without an escape plan, out in the open like this with no hiding places and nothing but bare hands and a duckling to defend herself with, she was out of luck. There were trees nearby, or course, but they weren't close enough to hide behind. By the time she got to one, the stranger would have already seen her.
So Emma stood straighter, concealing the duckling and readying herself for a fight—in case it came to that.

"I, for one, would like to be able to eat this week."
Prim pushed forward a small piece of goat cheese. It wasn’t too small but it wasn’t that big. “I have some cheese, if you want. It’s not much but it’s all I have.”

“Well, that’s all I have with me. I have more cheese at home.”
Prim started to smile as Emma reached for it. But it disappeared as her hand went down. The girl wasn’t going to make her eat something she didn’t want to, but it was hard to tell how long she’s gone without food. Prim had her sister, a food provider, and a goat, making cheese every morning. Emma, at most, didn’t have much.
She looked up and used the hand held out to help herself up.
“Okay, maybe we can find berries around here!”
“ Alright. But I hope you know how to tell them apart - because I don’t. ”
Emma didn’t bother dusting herself off after standing. Truthfully, it hadn’t come to mind. She was too distracted in her worries - what if there weren’t any berries to be found? What if they only found a few? Would that be enough? What then? She glanced around quickly, in hopes of finding a source of berries - and maybe something more. She turned back to Prim a second later, putting on a straight face.
“ So — Where do we start? ”
