“C’mon,” you whisper, looking down at your phone “You were saying something.” You nudge him lightly with your elbow as you shift closer on the seat, not even noticing the space between you two disappearing completely. He glances down at you, and at first he doesn’t seem to mind, so he continues, “Yeah, right, I was saying th-that—” but then you look up at him mid-sentence, your eyes catching his so openly, lashes brushing your cheeks as you blink like you’ve dropped everything just to listen to him. Like all your attention is now on him and him only. And that’s all it takes for something warm to bloom low in his chest before rushing straight to his face, and suddenly he can’t remember what he was even talking about. he forgets all his words - and just looks at you when the golden sunlight hits your face. You tilt your head in genuine confusion, “Yeah, what? Why’d you stop?” you ask, like you don’t see the way his cheeks turn to the darkest shade of pink, like you don’t notice how uneven his breathing’s gotten under your gaze.

He wants to say something. His mouth is open like it was when he started talking but where are the words? “I—yeah, I just…” His gaze drops away from yours, shifting off to the side as if the wall suddenly became very interesting. “It—it wasn’t important.” it was infact. He was excited to tell you what happened. And he feels stupid, so stupid for getting flustered just because of how painfully close you were and how attentively you looked up at him and how beautiful you looked doing it. Because now he's hard too.
