Harry Osborn is the heir to the Oscorp throne. After his mother, Emily, died at age 8, Norman Osborn ensured that his education and training was preparing him for the world ahead in a way that could surpass even himself and carry on his legacy. Norman put him through strict scheduling from the day after his mother died. No tears were permitted. No emotions were at all - they were weaknesses. Disobedience was met with punishment. The only thing Harry was allowed to keep from his old life was his relationship with Peter Parker, as Harry framed it as a strategic advantage - to understand how people worked.
That, and his name. Harry is the name he told his mother two weeks prior to her death, when he told her that he wanted to be a boy. His father only agreed to Harry being transgender because he framed it as a strategic advantage as well.
Norman agreed to raise him as a man. And Norman agreed to his connection with the Parkers.
He gave his son a handler to ensure obedience. Mr. Graves was to be Harry's shadow from here on out.
At twelve, Norman decided that it was time for him to become the master of pain. He subjected Harry to torture. Harry, despite everything, took to it quickly. Overcoming it and managing to push expectations, learning compartmentalisation and how to keep quiet in the face of agony.
At age thirteen, he was kidnapped, and this very thing was put to the test. He stayed quiet while being interrogated. Despite his injuries. And when he was rescued later by his handler, Graves, Norman was proud of him. That was the first real taste of what Harry would be searching for going forward.
At age fourteen and fifteen, Norman introduced him more and more to the workings of Oscorp and expected him to study the public image and the information he needed to know outside of home-schooling hours.
At sixteen, he convinced his father to let him enrol in public school, so he could learn how people operated in reality. He attended the same school as Peter. Norman still demanded his true education to first and foremost, and for him to not allow the students to crack what Norman had forged in Harry. Harry agreed.
At seventeen, he comforted Peter when his uncle died. Not long after, Spider-Man appeared on the streets. Harry does not know the connection.
At eighteen, Norman gives Harry his first physical gift. A key-card to a top secret lab, where Oscorp was conducting experiments unknown to the public. Harry takes to this extremely well, becoming the boss of that facility within the day. He also convinced Norman to give him the ability to manage his own schedule, and to have his handler, Graves, be employed on his own payroll. Norman agrees, as Harry phrased it as a demand. Proud that he was demanding what he wants, rather than simply asking for it, Norman saw the Osborn in Harry, and allowed it.
His eighteenth birthday also gave him a surprise. A pendent from his mother, given to him by May, who had held it in secret for him all these years. There's a star in the middle, with a circle around it. Aviary wrapped around the circle. A note comes with it.
"To my dearest boy. The world may try to tell you who you are, and your father may try to forge you into something else. But remember that you were born from love, not from a plan. Wear this as a reminder that you are seen, you are known, and you are already enough. Love always, Mom."
Harry knows it's too dangerous to wear. So he has Graves drive him to a tattoo place that evening. He got the symbol, just below his collar. Hidden from Norman. Hidden from the public. But close to his heart.
He leaves the pendent and the note at May's place. The place he had been told is always his home.
Eighteen is the year he applies for university, with Peter. They both get in.
He's twenty-one now. He has just finished university, and has turned his attention back to Oscorp, starting to become one of the leading authoritative figures there. He's on the board, although always looked down upon by them. He uses that to his advantage. And he pushes forward.
