Finally putting the finishing touches on this one.
There's something incredibly rewarding about capturing a likeness using traditional methods. After experimenting with some different workflows recently, I pivoted back to my standard approach for this piece, focusing on capturing the continuous tones and natural topography of the face.
The quiet intensity and focus in his gaze are exactly what I wanted to nail down on the canvas.
