Now everyone can have their opinions. RPing can be enjoyed in many different ways! There are people that like to be super involved and others that like casual interaction. It is a hobby and as long as people are having fun it doesn’t matter if they write or not. Which is why we would never make writing a mandatory task.

Everything related to the announcement about "writing thread for the AC" said it was a new "requirement" aka mandatory and not optional, so I think the wording choice is what threw people off because it seems more than 1 of us though it wasn't optional (I'm not the same anon as the previous ask), just saying
Thank you for the clarification on that Moonie! I can see how the wording was confusing. But it is optional. It is also listed in the optional part of our pinned post in the AC group. We will fix the wording on our post!

Are you talking about the writing? Because if so it’s not mandatory! It’s just one of the options of the additional task requirement. Since the community voted to have a writing group and we had a few people ask we decided it was a great idea! All the other options are still there!
