A/N: Here is the second part of the Hostage one shot.
Olivia glanced out to the living room from the kitchen. She just finished drying the last plate from another quiet dinner. You were sitting on the armchair, watching the news. Olivia mentally sighed. It has been two weeks since you been rescued. You have barely spoken a word to anyone, even to Liv. With Noah, you tried to act as if nothing happened, but Liv could see how much you were struggling.
Especially at night. You would always wake up shaking or gasping from the nightmares that haunted you at night. Olivia had tried to comfort you once but you freaked out, and pushed her away and ran to the bathroom. Luckily, Noah didn’t wake up that night. Olivia had let you know that she was always there for you if you needed to talk to her but you wouldn’t respond. It pained Olivia but she knew that you needed time and will eventually come talk to her when you were ready.
The sergeant was pulled from her thoughts when she heard hurried small footsteps coming from the small hallway. Noah hurriedly walked towards the silent figure in the armchair with a big smile on his face. He has changed into his pajamas as he was told to.
“I brushed my teeth,” Noah happily said, standing close to you.
With a soft smiled, you nodded in approval. “And changed into your pjs.”
The small child giggled and climbed up your legs. You slightly flinched when he quickly sat on your lap, cuddling with you. It took a few seconds before you wrapped your arms around him. The both of you didn’t notice the dark brown eyes silently watching from the kitchen. You kissed the top of Noah’s head, and continued to watch the news.
…………..
Olivia stretched and winced when she heard the pops from her back. She turned slightly from the couch and noticed that Noah fell asleep in your arms. You were still watching the news, mindlessly running your fingers thru his hair. She glanced down at her watch and noticed how late it had gotten. She was about to get up when you looked down at sleeping boy in your arms.
You tighten your hold on him, careful not to wake him, and silently got off the armchair. You glanced at your girlfriend before looking away quickly. “I’ll tuck him in.”
The shocked looked from the brunette went unnoticed to you as you walked towards the hallway, to Noah’s bedroom. The walk to the small boy’s room was quiet as you turned on the light on his room. You gently placed him on the bed, carefully pulling the covers and tucking him in. On the nightstand, you saw Spots, the stuffed giraffe that Noah loved to sleep with. With a small smile on your face, you placed the giraffe in Noah’s arm. You chuckled lowly as Noah pulled the plush toy closer to him in his sleep.
You brushed some of his hair away from his face as you observed his sleeping form. With a sigh, you gave him a kiss on the forehead and silently walked towards the door. You turned around to glance one more time at the sleeping child, before turning off the lights and closing the door quietly.
Olivia heard your footsteps approaching and turned to look. She grimaced when she noticed you were looking down, not wanting to make eye contact with her. What surprised her is when you took a seat on the couch instead of the armchair. The brunette continued to stare at you, wondering whether to shuffle closer to you or keep her distance.
You didn’t notice the internal struggle going on with your girlfriend. You were struggling with your own struggles. You longed to touch her hand or cuddle with her. But every time you thought of it, something inside you made you go against it. You could still feel those slaps and the punches from the two men. You were able to hide the bruises and cuts with long sleeves and pants from Noah and the others.
You wanted to go and talk to your girlfriend about it. But you were just too scared to talk about your time been kidnapped. You knew that Olivia and the others have seen some of the torture. But you didn’t want to tell her that the torment continued after the webcam was turned off. How they would continue to punch, kick, slap and the cuts. It would just be too much for you.
You and Olivia continued to watch the news but the two of you could barely process what the reporter was talking about. Still lost in each of your own struggles. Olivia was about to get up and call it a night when she felt eyes on her. She slowly turned to her right and she saw you staring at her.
It was the first time in a while that you haven’t looked away from her. She softly smiled at you and was about to reach for your hand when you quickly looked down at your lap. She grimaced, cursing at herself for smiling at you.
You blinked as you looked down at her hands. You heard Olivia sucked in a breath when she noticed that you were slowly reaching for one of her hands. She didn’t dare to move a muscle, not wanting to frighten you by making a sudden move. She almost cried in relief when she saw you intertwined your fingers with hers and gave her hand a light squeeze. Olivia wanted to cry in happiness. This was the first physical contact she had with you that didn’t make you didn’t flinch away or recoiled.
You nervously looked up at your girlfriend. “Do you still love me? After everything that has happened to me?”
“Of course I do,” Olivia’s eyes widen in surprised. She was shock that you would think something like that. “I will always love you, Y/N.”
“Even if I’m tainted?” You whispered so lowly that Olivia almost didn’t heard you.
Olivia shook her head. “Y/N, you are not tainted. Don’t even think that again.” She gave your hand a light squeeze. “What happened to you, doesn’t make you dirty. In my eyes, you’re a survivor from the torture you endured.”
You sat in silence, listening to everything that your girlfriend had told you. It was difficult for you not to blame yourself for what happened. Deep down you know that it wasn’t your fault but it was hard when you played the ‘what if’s’ scenarios in your head over and over again the past two weeks.
“May I hug you?”
The question was sudden that it startled you from your thoughts. You stared at Olivia for a few moments before giving her a nod. You flinched when you felt her arms around you. Your body immediately tensed, even if your tried not to.
Your heart started to pound loudly, as she continued to hug you. The smell of lavender and a hint of coffee was slowly calming you down. It was the smell that Olivia always carried around her. Slowly, your heartbeat returned to normal and your body relaxed against her.
Without thinking, you wrapped your arms around her and pulled her closer. You felt a kiss on the side of your head. You felt safe in her arms again as you cuddled closer to her. Olivia knew that there were still more milestones ahead. But she would be by your side, helping you overcome them and give you the support that you need. She will always be there.
