for    clarification,    this    blog    is    both    canon    and    canon-divergent    with    pieces    from    the    original    orphan    (    2009    )    script,    which,    if    you    don’t    know,    has    many    dissimilarities    from    the    movie.    i    play    based    on    the    orphan    (    2009    )    dvd-exclusive    ending    where    leena    never    encounters    kate    and    max    at    the    pond    at    all.    after    their    fight    at    the    greenhouse,    leena    afforded    kate    the    opportunity    to    escape    which    lent    her    the    window    to    reinstate    her    role    as    esther    coleman,    who    she    presents    to    the    police.    she    is    immediately    placed    back    in    foster    care    in    leena’s    main    verse,    but    i    am    open    to    writing    various    scenarios    with    different    players.    i    am    tremendously    flexible.

don’t    be    a    creep.    isabelle    fuhrman    and    leena    klammer    are    both    of    age    but    esther    is    not,    and    i    am    not    comfortable    with    writing    smut    at    all.    leena    can    and    may    form    an    erotic    or    romantic    attraction    to    your    character,    but    i    won’t    portray    anything    more    than    depictions    of    distant    lusting    and    mild   affection.   shipping    is    not    available.

Do you think esther/leena having her own show would work?

i    think    it    would’ve    worked    before    orphan:    first    kill    became    a    movie.    a    miniseries    would    have    probably    been    a    better    varsity    play.    while    i    enjoyed    orphan:    first    kill,    it    really    didn’t    do    me    over    in    terms    of    appetite;    there    was    so    much    left    to    be    said    and    seen    that    i    fear    we    will    never    get    to    see    light    of.    everyone    involved    have    all    agreed    that    they    are    open    to    a    third    piece,    but    ...    i    seriously    doubt    that    will    ever    come    to    fruition,    unfortunately.    it    feels    a    little    too    late    now.

                  it’s    night    or    close    to    it:    through    the    tendrils    of    thick,    ropy    rain    in    the    window    esther    can    make    out    the    soft    glitter    of    starshine.    she    isn’t    tall    enough    to    reach    the    third    crosspiece    of    john’s    retable    housing    tools    by    the    dozen,    but    she’s    reaching    up,    up,    up,    on    her    tiptoes.    while    blindly    helming    her    widened    hand    left    and    right    in    search;    a    finger    nudges    one    out    of    the    innumerable    teeth    of    john’s    automatic    mini-saw.    she    finds    the    rest     of    it    and    claims    it    whole    by    the    hilt,    and    heaves    it    out    of    its    recession    at    the    same    time    that    the    door    moves    to    introduce    kate    behind    it    who    tries   the   knob    but   ...    finds    that    it’s    bolted    twice.    that    slimy    bitch    is    always    in    the    way.    instead    of    replacing    it,    esther    steps    off    the    chair    she    was    standing    on    and    shoves    the    saw    fast    under    john’s    desk    for    later    use,    because    kate    will    never    notice    where    it    was    to    begin    with,    much    less    where    it    is    now.    she    unfastens    and   draws    back    the    door    then,    and    meets    kate.    answers    questions    for    her.    “    the    door    locked    behind    me,     mommy.    i    swear.    daddy    said    mrs.    webb    could    be    in    here,    but    she    isn’t.    ”

                  at    the    landing    of    the    stairwell,    esther    stalks    star    from    between    the    bars    of    its    balusters.    how    long    would    you    fall    if    you    plummeted    from    this    height?    how    hard    would    your    bones    crack    on    impact?    with    her    tiny    arm    flanked    by    two    slabs    of    wood,    she    dispenses    one    of    her    precious    puppets    from    above    and    sees    the    mouth    of    the    terrazzo    floor    yawn    for    its    unfortunate    welcome;    it    touch-downs    somewhere    by    star’s    feet    without    sound.    when    esther    descends,    it’s    only    to     meet    star    with    a    gracious    simper.    she’s    got    her    hands    behind    her    back.    “    can    i    see?    ”

i    want    leena    to    absolutely    hoodwink    the    f*ck    out    of    your    muse    by    pretending    to    be    a    homeless    child.    i    mean,    sure,    we    could    speculate    that    she    was    put    back    in    an    orphanage,    maybe    even    mariana’s    home    for    girls    again,    but    it    would    also    be    cool    for    someone    to    cross    her    living    rough    on    the    streets    like    she    was    known    to    do    before    she    ever    started    swindling    families.

Mun what are your thoughts on the orphan prequel?

i    get    a    little    nervous    talking    about    my    take    on    things    because    ...    well,    frankly,    i    don’t    believe    i    have    the    best    palette.    to    answer    your    question,    though,    i    guess    ...    i    have    my    scruples    with    it.    but    fundamentally?    i    thought    it    was    the    right    amount    of    entertaining,    right    amount    of    shock    value.    it    was    cinematically    impressive.    the    cast’s    performances,    making    do,    was    conducted    in    ways    ...    beyond    my    expectations,    given    isabelle    was    an    adult    at    the    time    of    filming.    the    choreography,    the    angles,    the    outlines    were    a    little    interesting    to    me.    i’m    not    big    on    its    cool-tone    ambiance,    but    i    do    acknowledge    that    it    does    underpin    a    certain    climate    the    developers    were    going    for,    so—    i    mean?    what    do    i    really    have    to    say?    they    had    a    hope    and    vitalized    it    in    real    time,    and    that’s    so    ???    awesome.    story    wise,    i    am    disappointed    that    they    didn’t    give    us    a    deeper    glimpse    into    leena’s    background.    they    actually   made   it   more   convoluted.    i    know    that    the    albright’s    were    a    background,    and    it    couldn’t    be    a    background    in    a    background,    but    ...    i    think    we    all    want    to    know    a    little    more    about    our    girl.    there    were    also    a    few    inconsistencies    between    orphan:    first    kill    and    orphan    (    2009    ).    i    won’t    go    into    those    inconsistencies    because    i’d    have    to    put    it    under    a    read-more,    but,    yeah.    they’re    really    not    hard    to    notice,    and    it    probably    would’ve    been    easy    to    patch    them    up    instead    of    sweeping    them    under    the    mat.    conclusively    ...    i    liked    it.

                leena’s    upright,    midway.    she’s    got    her    backpack’s    strap    drawn    around    the    bend    of    her    elbow,    the    rest    of    it    sags    somewhere    by    her    hip,    when    the    sound    of    mary’s    hand    beating    the    table    garners    the    unblinking    eye    of    everyone    in    the    room.    now    that    they    have    each    had    their    turn    of    abusing    said    table,    leena    takes    its    radius    from    the    underside    to    stop    it    from    moving    on    its    already    done    legs.    from    squeaking.    the    newfound    vacance    unburdens    leena,    who    sways    her    head    against    the    stiff    lapel    of    her    duffle    coat    to    knock    away    a    generous    lock    of    hair    stuck    to    her    cheek,    and    finally,    after    a    long    while    of    simply    not    doing    it,    she    repositions,    by    demand.    the    silence    isn’t    consoling,    but    on    the    unobserved,    mary’s    servance    as    a    distraction    is:    leena    can    breathe.    there    are    voices    that    hone    in    on    her    from    inside    her    unrighteous    mind,    distant    heckling    from    every    cleft    of    it—    they’ve    buzzed    down    to    nothing    now,    as    their    shared    eyegaze    is    forwent    and    leena    pivots    the    direction    of    her    stare    to    a    nearby    window    through    which    streetlamps    burn    like    cat-eyed    lanterns.    the    rolling    of    her    throat    then,    a    word,    a    sentence.    “    everyone    is    watching    me.    ”
