(i assumed for your main blog since you didn’t specify LOL but you can let me know otherwise if you wanted someone from your multi!)
Of all the times to run into another passenger. It was his own fault, really. He should have checked his number tracker- afterall, he’d been sent at least a few beyond the original fourty-seven cars he had scanned when he and Grace had been ejected with that first car.
But he was in a panic, and his head was killing him. ( Hopefully in a figurative sense, and not a literal one. ) So, he’d frantically stumbled into the next car without even thinking about running into another passenger. Only to come face to face with one nearly right away.
“Oh.” He didn’t seem to know how to react, at first. He really didn’t have the time, energy, or mental clarity to attempt a recruitment. But he couldn’t just walk off and ignore the other passenger either, could he?
“Hi. You- you caught me at a bad time, sorry.” He started, voice breathless and strained. He stepped to the side, increasing the distance between them a little bit. But he also stumbled in the process. Not quite falling, but making it clear he wasn’t fully steady on his feet.
Great. If he didn’t have enough problems already, he was also thoroughly embarrassing himself.
“I-... had an accident with a shifting train car.” He half-mumbled, frustration now seeping through his voice along with the obvious pain. “Uh, are you new? Or have you been here for awhile?”
Normally it was better to catch passengers as quickly as possible, before they absorbed too much One-One propaganda, or bonded too much with a null. But in this case, he was secretly hoping the boy already had at least some train experience. If only to avoid making the interaction more awkward than it already was.
