We’re going on a little winter holiday. I wanna be excited but here’s a glimpse of what’s going on in my head....
We need togs and towels. Do N’s togs fit? E’s never been swimming. What togs will she wear. Ugh- I don’t like the way I look in mine. I wonder if my boobs still fit my swim bra.
We might see snow. What will E wear to keep her warm. N refuses to wear pants at the moment. What will he wear. He says they’re too tight. But he doesn’t want the ones with pockets and ties. I need to go shopping but what if he doesn’t like the new ones. His shoes are all too small. I need to buy more shoes. It’s only been 8 weeks though. Why do I feel like money is flying out the door. He’s growing so much. I wonder if his jacket still fits. And gloves. Where are his gloves?
I wonder if the supermarket delivers to the holiday house. It’s 20 minutes from the city. I should work that out. Or maybe it’ll be nice to go shopping by myself. No coz then I’ll get FOMO. And then my parents are coming. And then in laws are coming. Ugh. What will we eat. I need to meal plan so we buy the right amount of food for our week there. But what does R like to eat - and M doesn’t like curry things. Maybe I’ll take my favourite casserole dish. And I better remember my favourite herbs and spices. And a chilly bin. And what will we pack for lunch while we’re driving.
How do I make sure all the people are happy all the time? What games will the adults like to play in the evening? And what toys shall I take for the kids. Enough to keep them happy for a week but not so many that they take over the car. Maybe I’ll take a book for myself to read. That’ll be nice. Oh nah I won’t have time. I’ll be too busy making sure everyone has what they need. Is this even going to a relaxing holiday for me at all? Oh but it’ll be nice to get out of our house and have the parents there. I guess. I hope I get a sleep in.
Should we take the buggy? Will we even need it? Or just the front pack? But that hurts my back so we should definitely take the buggy. Eugh but will it fit in the boot with our suitcases and things.
Sheets. We need to take sheets. And blankets for the babies bed. Hmm, and I better take my own pillow because I can’t sleep in anything else. And so better take N’s pillow for comfort of having his own things. I wonder what cuddly toys he’ll want. And what books should I put in the car for him to look at while we drive. I better make sure we have charged batteries for his camera. And my camera. I need to download and empty the SD card. Oh my plants need watering as well!
........ and that’s just the start. 🤦🏼♀️ Mum life, eh?! The invisible load that we carry is huge. My brain never ever turns off. There’s always something.
