In this episode: Austin (Chris Jehnert) a gay runaway teen, is offered help from a stranger who takes pity on him named Phoenix (C Bain). Austin enters a new living situation that seems to fit his value system. We meet Linda (Aleigha K Spinks), Austin’s landlord and boss as well as a new boy (Tyler Begnoche) who takes an interest in Austin.

Trans woman detained and humiliated by TSA while going through airport security

A trans woman live-tweeted the shameful treatment she says she experienced at the hands of the Transportation Security Administration. But the TSA says its agents followed procedure.

Shadi Petosky, a trans woman from Minneapolis, shed new light on the often terrifying experience of “traveling while trans” in a livetweeting session earlier this week. 

When Petosky was going through security before a flight, a TSA agent stopped her because of an “anomaly” that showed in the screening: her genitals. She was pulled aside for additional screening, forced to explain her sex, detained in a room alone, patted down aggressively, told to go back through the machine “as a man” (whatever that means), missed her flight, and was eventually asked to leave the airport.

It’s not ladies’ night at “Stonewall”

You know, despite the bad rap Stonewall got before anyone even saw it, I largely withheld my judgment. I figured since the finished product wasn’t that far away, I could wait until I actually watched the film before coming to any conclusions. Well now that thanks to a TIFF press screening I have, I can unequivocally say that Stonewall does one hell of a disservice to queer women, past and present. No, this isn’t a case of bad representation–it’s a matter of barely there representation, and we deserve better.
