i need you so much closer | robert
This wasnât supposed to happen.Â
(Not in any other alternate universe, past life, future life, whatever - just never. Not even now.Â
Especially now, Robert thinks.)Â
For a moment there was silence between them, her hands resting on his shoulder, their bodies just barely a few inches apart. Until -
I need - you to care. I want you to stay because you care âbout me. Jusâ fucking⌠fucking stop, her voice was buzzing in his ear, and there was the pounding, distant and faint, coming from the prefects bathroom. The music that was drowning out his thoughts, the alcohol that clouded and tainted his judgements.Â
Because somewhere in between the I need you and fucking stop, the lines of what he knew he should do and what he couldnât help himself do - the right and the wrong - blurred.Â
This wasnât supposed to happen.
Her lips pressed against his. His lips pressed against hers. She tasted like alcohol - burning, heated. Red. He feels her arms lace around his neck as his fingers barely and lightly brushes through the contours of her jawline, finally entangling in-between the loose strands of her hair. His other hand travelled the down to the small of her back as he pulled her in closer, until every inch of her was against him.
He pulls away slightly, his lips grazing over hers. âFuck you too,â he manages in between breathing. Fuck you because this wasnât supposed to happened. Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you because of the alcohol. Fuck you. But fuck you, again, because once again, he finds his lips locked with hers and he is trying but the kiss was slowly tasting like guilt and temptation.
For a brief second it was nearly her to be the one to run away. Small touches and light brushes of fingertips over jawlines had never been a part of the deal before. Gasping and biting and fucking with a smirk as sharp as a razor and alcohol as bitter as she could muster. Games like that she could play; she could win. At the slightest hint of tenderness her fingernails clutched tightly to his shirt, tensed out of a fear that could thankfully be easily mistaken for lust and want.
And then the moment had passed as he was kissing her and pulling her closer and Della's pounding head and hammering heart made it impossible to figure out where his body ended and hers began. Her whispered fuck yous continued, as if hissing it over and over would magically erase all the damage she had inflicted.
Fuck you too. His words should have tasted like victory whispered against her lips. She had gotten what she wanted; she'd made him stay. Except she didn't fucking know what she wanted and she never fucking knows what she wants and this time her fingers aren't clutching and grasping out of fear. Crimson nails of her left hand were gently dragged across the hot skin of his neck, fingers tangling in his hair. The alcohol played tricks on her mind and it seemed logical that closeness and touching - pulling and pressing - are the only things that could sate her desire for whatever it was that she was trying to achieve. And so she tugged him closer, inhaling the smell of the cigarette he had just smoked and grazing her teeth over his bottom lip.Â
It shouldn't be happening.
It was a fact. Something that made sense in the midst of the blurred lines and the hushed curse words. Something that neither of them could deny. And yet the kissing and the touching and the brushing of skin all argued with that fact, as if both of them were fighting against it being true. Perhaps that was what she wanted - to believe that it should be happening. The alcohol could fill in rest of the gaps and explain the why part for her.
Regardless of all the shoulds and shouldn'ts, it was happening and that was the one thing her mind could comprehend as she pulled him towards her and let out a small gasp. Stumbling backwards, she dragged him with her - lips still locked - until her shoulder blades were pressing against hard, cold stone. A contrast to his heated touches, his kisses that shouldn't but were.
