Late Payment Fees

Some individuals receive benefit payments once per month. For example: senior's pension, social assistance and disability payments. There are those who are also only able to go to the bank once per month. These people may not have access to on-line banking or are not willing to do it because they do not trust it. They may also not have the knowledge, capability or patience for telephone banking. Businesses, such as Bell Canada, should allow these individuals to change their billing due date to match their payment date. One person called Bell Canada to request that her phone bill due date be changed to the end of the month, which is when she would receive her benefit payment, and she was told no. The late fees keep adding up and when you have limited income every cent matters. Therefore, these businesses keep making profit off the backs of the poor, the aged and the disabled - for example.
