“You haven’t changed a bit”
With my theatrical flare, I have somehow managed to get myself a regular slot on an independent radio (10-11am tuseday, Insanity Radio 103.2… but no, I’m not advertising.)
Unfortunately one of my very old friends is ill at the moment and therefore has not taken the wet and wild journey to university. Unknowingly, I prattled on about rubbish for an hour, playing embarrassing classics such as ‘Sex Bomb’ by Tom Jones and ‘Alright’ by The Backstreet Boys.
Later, that day I was perusing trough Facebook, casual minded and happy with my earlier radio performance. The tone sounded, and a speech bubble pops up. I receive the message:
“I listened to you on the radio this morning! You haven't changed a bit! Haha”
Bare in mind, I haven’t spoken to this particular young lady since year 11 (4 years previous), and that didn’t exactly end on best friend terms. However before our distancing, we were fast friends.
This therefore got me to thinking. If I haven’t changed, am I still as immature as I was in year 10/11? Therefore am I annoying to listeners? Or people around me?
I agree it was a fairly slapdash show, the system kept shutting down and I was panicking because the two presenters hadn’t emerged with 3 minutes to go before their show. But I hope that I don’t irritate listeners to the point of insanity (get it?) or even worse- turning off the radio.
After pondering on these questions for several days I have come to the conclusion that she meant my girlish charms were still intact. Also that the joyous appreciation and enthusiasm for life was evident, along with my view that everything in life can be hilarious.
She may have been meaning that I was bloody annoying. But, honestly, I don’t care.
