Canon (self-explanatory, takes place pre-raid)

details: Kai loses his arms to Shigaraki, he’s later treated for his injuries by another emergency backup vehicle and transported to the hospital.  He’s taken to jail, but released later due to no longer being a threat.  However, he’s monitored closely before he goes into hiding in an attempt to revive what’s left of the Yakuza despite no longer having his power and significant influence.

Post canon AU (takes places after the raid)

details: The League of Villains never make it to Chisaki while he is being transported.  One or more of the Shie Hassaikai managed to either break free or avoid being caught and hi-jacks the vehicle he’s in.  Together, he and the unnamed member(s) retreat back to the underground where they go into hiding and strategize on how to bring back the Shie Hassaikai.  Kai still has his quirk, and is vengeful after what happened.

details:  Rikiya sets out to destroy Chisaki after hearing of his influence and what he’s up to before the League can get to him.  However, Chisaki strikes a proposal and a compromise to join forces and merge their powers.  Chisaki is still allowed to undergo researching Eri’s quirk and the quirk erasing serum but under Rikiya’s watch and discretion.  Depending on the timeline, Chisaki still has Eri in his possession.  If it takes place after the raid, Chisaki no longer has Eri and moreso follows along with the post canon AU verse.  He and the rest of the Shie Hassaikai reside in Deika city in this verse.

LoV (takes place pre-raid)

details: Everything is canon except the raid never happens. Magne is brought back to life, and the League of Villains and Shie Hassaikai merge successfully with minor conflict.

Escape AU

details: Kai and some or all of the Shie Hassaikai manage to escape the heroes and flee.  Eri is still in their clutches.

putting this under a cut. I really don’t want this to be seen as drama, and I really don’t want to start drama. But. I do want to explain why erasing extremely problematic aspects from a problematic character isn’t good. i’m going to shut off anon for a while.

hey so, i’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say this was sent with the intent to be educated on something you don’t understand. I’m going to be as clear as I can but I also want you to understand that my only reason for answering this is so I can shed some light on why I added to my rules that “woobifying” villains is not something I like to see, which i’m assuming this ask is about and why it was sent in the first place.  I’m not here to police people's actions or portrayals, and i’m not here to dictate what you do and don’t write.  But understand that certain things do have an impact on your followers and how watering down a villain’s character can make people uncomfortable. 

I’m here to write with my friends first and foremost.  That’s what i’m taking priority of, and that’s right up there with my mental health and controlling what I see and have on my dash.  My comfort.  

My rules are set in place for my own comfort, not to control what you have on your dash, but my own. There are things that can put my health in jeopardy, and i’ve listed those things in my rules as a BOUNDARY.  My rules weren’t written for you to ignore or treat like they only apply sometimes.

Secondly, you can write what you want who you want how you want.  But not everyone is going to agree with it or be comfortable with it.  I’m not saying you need to stop for my sake, but I will be taking measures and steps to be sure my comfort is prioritized by controlling what content i see  And I do want you to understand that erasing problematic aspects from a character is problematic. 

Watering down a villain makes me uncomfortable.  By watering down, I don’t mean writing ships, i don’t mean writing crack.  What I mean is erasing the parts of them that make them villains.  The crimes they’ve committed: murder, child abuse, whatever list of crimes your muse has committed.  Yes, a lot of the villains have been victims of a corrupt and broken society, tragically.  But just as I stated in my rules, them being victims does not absolve them of the horrible things they’ve done.  They have killed people, they have hurt children, attempted to kill children, and put other innocent lives in danger. 

So when I see all of this being written OUT of their character to fit how you’d rather see them, it doesn’t really sit right with me.  

I love the villains, too.  I’m passionate about them and love to learn more about them and their psychology.  But I don’t excuse their behavior.  I don’t condone what they’ve done.  And erasing the parts of them like that is not a comforting thing to see.

If I did this with Kai, made his character do a complete 180, not only would it be erasing the abuse Eri went through, but as an abuse survivor myself it’s very discomforting for me to see a dynamic change so drastically. It is legitimately triggering to see.

I don’t expect this to change your mind or how you write your muses, but I do want you to understand that erasing those kinds of elements from a character is not a good practice to follow.  And it is quite frankly very disgusting.
