Non-art Related Rant

This will be a long, ranty post. Hang in there.

I have terrible news. My congressman is a piece of shit. His name is Congressman Leonard Lance (sounds like a comic book villain, BTW) and I called his office today to see what his stance on what happened in Orlando is. I got the runaround for a few minutes, and was directed to his website. I found, in tiny text in the bottom corner, that he is attributing the attack to online radical islamic propaganda. No mention of the clear motivator in the attack. No mention of the people or significance of the attack. He's pretending it's just another senseless terrorist attack.

Here's the deal, people. This was not random. People were targeted because of their sexuality, their beliefs. And REAL PEOPLE died. People with families who cared about them. What if it had been someone you know, someone you care about? Would it be ok to you to have a congressman or a president who now is going to use this tragedy to try and build a wall around the country, to try and ban muslim immigrants, WHEN THE ATTACKER WAS FROM NEW YORK CITY?

Get your heads out of your asses, people. I refuse to let these 50 people, or any of the other 615 people who died so far THIS YEAR to have died in vain. I'm going to stand and fight.

I'm not asking you to do the same, although it would be awesome if you did. I'm asking you to please, EDUCATE yourself. Educate yourself on issues and problems that, while they may not affect you personally, are important to the People.

Stop believing that a party that wants to control everything from what your children read, to what goes on in a woman's body, to who you can worship, to who deserves to not be sick in this country is about small government. Stop believing that what the talking heads on the glowy fucking box in front of you are telling you. They don't care about anyone other than themselves and their bank accounts.

We have to look out for yourself, and for those around you. Forty-five Representatives will be leaving their seats in 2016. 34 Senators are up for re-election this year. This is where change is made.

EDUCATE. LEARN.

AND FOR FUCK'S SAKE, PLEASE VOTE.
