in which owen looks more put together than ever
dmnfox:
fox considered the offer for a while. exercise did tend to help sometimes – though he’d always preferred running. on the plus side, surfing did look rather tiring. on the negative side, it had never looked very fun. “if you agree to not let me drown out there i’ll give it a shot, i guess.” why not? maybe it was more fun than fox thought.
“who do you think i am? i’m certified in cpr and everything. if you do get stuffed, i can rescue you.” the prospect of having fox join him lifted his spirits a great deal. his own board prepped and waxed, he went and got the shorter board from its place leaning against the wall. “i’ll wax it for you and everything. wanna borrow a wet suit?”
tyllrs:
“why would you ever think i only give serious offers,” ty said—not asked, because it was not a question—and stared at owen, then promptly shook off the statement. literally. with a physical shake. no, thank you. his gag reflex was just fine. if his throat wanted dicks being forced down it, it wouldn’t have a gag reflex. “to be honest, i feel like you’re going to leave me in the middle of the ocean somewhere to get eaten by sharks who think i’m a seal from underneath.”
owen stood up, looking mildly offended because he wasn’t sure if he should be offended. but, ty almost never meant what he said, so he moved on. “i would never. plus, it’s the wrong time of year. most sharks have migrated south for the winter.” sort of, anyway. “if you learn now, you’ll be fine if i ever do leave you out there in the summer.”

Cori: It's Really awkward too because it was a regular thing.
Cori: And now I'm like. I can't just flunk you because you didn't want something serious, but that also sounds nice.
Owen: you're in a real pickle rip
Owen: maybe you'll get lucky and they'll flunk themself
tyllrs:
“why, i never,” ty gasped, insulted, and pressed a hand to his chest like a matron in a southern period drama. “i don’t flirt with people just to get things from them, owen. and i wasn’t flirting. this is my natural state of being.” he snapped owen’s wetsuit again, harder this time. “if you’re misreading the signs that isn’t my fault.”
“my bad,” owen said, rolling his eyes and swatting at tyler’s hand. “you only give serious offers right? let me know when you’ve taken care of that gag reflex.” he crouched to comb the lower part of the board. “speaking of serious offers, if you ever wanna learn to surf, that offer’s always open.” he looked up at tyler, smiling crookedly. “i have another board and another dive skin.”

Cori: Do you what the Real problem with teaching grad students is? Do you?
Cori: You end up teaching people you've slept with. That's what. That is the real problem.
Owen: wow
Owen: that is truly unfortunate
Owen: i'm so sorry
camesonvine:
not good. he knew how long those pieces took owen. but…it had been an accident. “i’m really sorry i was trying to fix the—well you know how the power fluctuates? i mean it’s definitely not going to do that anymore.” cam made his way to owen’s room, flashlight aimed in on him. “want me to get you ice?”
owen didn’t really think he did it on purpose. he was just being a better than average roommate by trying to fix something for everyone. so, owen could really only be upset with himself for not saving more often. “it’s... it’s whatever, it’s fine. i’m fine. i was super into it i forgot to save, y’know?” it wasn’t the first time he’d lost something because he was too in his flow to remember to save. cam’s light slid over the mess of his room and illuminated him on the bed. owen didn’t look up. “uh,” he could feel the lump already forming on his knee, “yes. please”
dmnfox:
fox shrugged slightly. “there’s not really much to talk about.” just the more of the same inability to get a good night’s sleep. he was surviving, that was all he could do at the moment. especially because he didn’t like taking medication unless it was something he really needed to do. there was a little part of him that was afraid if he started to rely on it in any way that it would just lead down the road to addiction. “it’s just the same bullshit on a different day.”
it was stupid to ask if he’d ever tried exercising. it was such a silly question, as if fox, who had dealt with this problem for a long time hadn’t considered such a simple solution. “wanna join me? i got a spare board. full disclosure, the water is pretty cold. but, it’ll be fun? and i’ve never not been exhausted after, so,” he shrugged. “couldn’t hurt?”
