One of the most tragic realizations one can derive from the atrocities that have occurred in Paris are layered in so many different shreds of heartbreak.
It is without a doubt that the media circus that has engulfed the events that have occurred in Paris has completely brought upon us a new level of erasure towards the factors that have led up to the murders to begin with.
One cannot be policed or admonished for not mourning the dead in Paris, as such death and murder is an almost daily occurrence in the countries and people(s) that have been victimized the most by ISIS, and yet these people have been so dehumanized and forgotten, any news that surround them are treated passingly and even annoyingly by Western readerships.
We have been conditioned to only sympathize with those closest to who we believe our identities are shared with the most, to only mourn those who fit into these personas and we have become a desolate reminder that the world is built on borders and exclusivity and we have been conditioned to fundamentally hate those at the lowest totem pole of our vicious food chain.
The deaths of civilians in Paris is absolutely tragic, and the murder of one innocent soul is equivalent to the murder of the human race as a whole. However, to respond with such paranoia, such Orwellian tactics, and such hatred for the Refugees that have suffered the most from this common enemy is the most baseless and disgusting result of these events.
House those who are less fortunate, for they are directly all of our responsibility.
The exclusivity of Europe and the West must not be heralded as a personal civilizational achievement and it cannot ignore the several centuries of murder and colonialism that has disadvantaged the planet for the sake of a few countries that sit upon this glorified peninsula.
The least you can do is welcome these Refugees with open arms.
