Chapter Summary:

Another day comes to a close as the cast celebrates the beautiful arrival of the Hyperion Shower.

Chapter 2: To a Summer's End

Some say the life of a detective can be a dodgy and dangerous one. You end up solving problems and closing cases one day, end up making enemies that want to hunt you down to the ends of the earth the very next. It’s not a life that anyone would willingly choose after knowing what they’re getting into, especially an inexperienced gumshoe looking for the thrill and adrenaline of danger rather than gaining the knowledge of solving problems and cases.

Unfortunately for Vector, he was in the latter. He signed up for it and didn’t even know what he was getting into. Hell, he still didn’t after all these years. Living week to week didn’t seem too bad when he first arrived on the scene at the ripe age of nineteen.

Now he was halfway through his twenties, still hadn't settled with a nice gal who would sweep him off his feet, and was barely paying the bills of the small, shoddy office building that he lived in for so many years now. However, due to two young stowaways he met along the way, that crumbling place felt more and more like a home with each passing year despite the odds.

The last couple of weeks had brought them away from home for awhile, now they’re finally back and can only relax for so long before the next scheduled outing on the list, which he did not have the energy for whatsoever even though they promised they’d come. All he wanted more than anything now was a cold glass of scotch, a heating pad for his aching back, the soothing sounds of cool jazz and piano playing in his ears and maybe an hour of some peace and quiet-.

“WHOOO!”

Vector jumped in surprise as a blur of orange and black flew past his muzzle, waving his arms to keep himself from falling back flat on his back. He groaned out as he rubbed his hand over his tired eyes. How does this kid still have so much energy after all of that? He himself struggled to stay awake on the drive home and yet this kid was going around like he’s gulped down 10 double espressos.

Amari is given either 3 or 4 beats that she must turn into a rhythm, which can be any sound of her choosing as long as it's something she's heard before and she'll be able to keep the beat. Once it's set, she must make physical contact with her opponent the same amount of times as the beat to BIND them. Once BOUND, she can control their movements for 5 measures until it's released
