Knowledge of God
"It is clear that there never was a time when nothing existed; otherwise nothing would exist now." C.S. Lewis, from Miracles
C.S. Lewis, from Miracles
Think as to think soberly
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. - Romans 12:3 (NKJV) -
We must not think too highly of ourselves, especially of--
1. Our knowledge
“Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; - Jeremiah 9:23 -
We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. - 1 Corinthians 8:1 -
2. Our gifts.
3. Our graces.
In order that every man may do his own proper work, he must form a sober, practical estimate of his own ability. The work must be thoughtfully done. But the thought, to be productive, must be sober.
If a man thinks more highly of himself than he ought to think, he will probably despise the service to which the Master has called him, and seek to undertake work for which be has not the adequate powers.
If a man under-estimates his ability, and thinks that he can do nothing, or nothing of profit to the Master, then he will do nothing, and the Church will lose his service and he will lose his reward (Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 19:12-27).
If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose. T.D. Jakes
Chaplain Jacob Duché leading the first prayer in the First Continental Congress at Carpenter's Hall, Philadelphia, September 1774.
HELP PEOPLE + YOUR TALENT = PURPOSE
Stand Up, sermon by Craig Groeschel
In Daniel 4, King Nebuchadnezzar dreams a dream about a tree. Daniel interprets the dream although other magicians and interpreters couldn’t or wouldn’t because they were afraid to tell the true interpretation or the bad news to the king.
But, Daniel interprets the dream because he cared about the king and said to the king:
26 “And inasmuch as they gave the command to leave the stump and roots of the tree, your kingdom shall be assured to you, after you come to know that Heaven rules.27 Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.”
Galatians 6:1
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.
Street Evangeliser vs. True Friend's Sharing
“THERE IS A SIMPLE REASON I never listened to street preachers: they didn’t seem to care about me. It wasn’t that they were annoying. I found their passion admirable, and I appreciated people who stood up for what they believed. Rather, it was that they treated me like an object of their agenda. Did they have any idea how their message would impact my life? Did they even care?
Sure, there are street preachers who share their message while still greeting people kindly, getting to know others’ troubles, and praying over personal pains, but I never saw them. What I saw were men who would stand on street corners accosting the public with their beliefs. No doubt they reached a few, but they repelled many more.
Unfortunately, I have found that many Christians think of evangelism the same way, foisting Christian beliefs on strangers in chance encounters. The problem with this approach is that the gospel requires a radical life change, and not many people are about to listen to strangers telling them to change the way they live. What do they know about others’ lives?
On the other hand, if a true friend shares the exact same message with heartfelt sincerity, speaking to specific circumstances and struggles, then the message is heard loud and clear.
Effective evangelism requires relationships. There are very few exceptions.
From a book by Nabeel Qureshi: “Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity.”

Creation - Creativity - Human Creativity
Creativity is one of the first themes readers encounter in the Bible. In the first chapters of the Genesis, God creates the heavens, the earth (Gen 1:1, 21, 27; 2:3–4), and all living creatures including humans (Gen 1:27; 5:1; Deut 3:32). God’s creative action always occurs as an expression of His free, sovereign will. Through the Bible, the roles of Jesus Christ (John 1:3; Col 1:16; Heb 1:2) and the Holy Spirit (Psa 104:30; Job 33:4) are affirmed in God’s acts of creation.
In the ot, the Hebrew word bara, meaning “to create a new thing,” is usually reserved for God (see Gen 1:1 and note). Likewise, in the nt, the word ktizō, meaning “to bring into existence” or “create,” is used in reference to God alone (Mark 13:19; Rom 1:25; 1 Cor 11:9). Given this, we might assume that creativity lies only within the sphere of divine action. However, this perspective neglects that we, as humans, reflect God’s image and can share in God’s creative action through creative acts of our own.
To understand our place in the drama of creation, we should look at how God created us. God made us in His image to give Him glory through service and love to the world. Because we are made in His image, we can assume that we have a likeness of His creative spirit within us. God initiated this sharing in His creative works by giving Adam the tasks of cultivating the garden (Gen 2:15) and naming the animals (Gen 2:20). The major difference between God’s creative action and ours, however, is that God has the power to create something from nothing.
The Proper Use of Human Creativity
In Exodus 31, God filled Bezalel, son of Uri, with His Spirit so that he would have the understanding, knowledge, and skill needed to craft the various vessels for the tabernacle (Exod 31:3–4). God also called upon the craftsmanship of Oholiab of the tribe of Dan and other skilled men and women to build the tabernacle (Exod 31:6). He invited His people to creatively apply their artistic talents to make objects for service to Him.
Yet immediately following this account, the Israelites misused their creative capabilities by forging an idol—the golden calf (Exod 32). The implications for human creativity are clear in the close positioning of these two stories: When we use our creative abilities without God’s assistance and direction, we run the risk of producing idols.
Human creativity can be exercised in both positive and negative ways. The same word used for Bezalel’s creativity in Exod 31:3 (melakhah, meaning “to think and plan to create something”) is also used for the workers of King Uzziah who created machines of war (2 Chr 26:15). We can use our creativity to make objects that glorify and serve God, or we can use it to enslave God’s people or fashion idols. Creativity should be exercised appropriately under the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Creativity and Restoration
Understanding the nt message of restoration is crucial in applying the concept of creativity today. As believers, we are renewed after the image of our Creator (Col 3:10); by His workmanship, Christ renews us so that we can perform the works God has prepared for us (Eph 2:10). These good works include using our creativity to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
If we are to share in God’s creative action, we should do so through good works—bringing restoration to the world. Creativity should not be self-seeking, but world-serving. It should be an act that proclaims God’s original creation, in which believers participate because of our re-created life in Christ.

GOD LETS WOLVES IN OUR LIVES
It's a mind-blowing video about wolves being reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park in the United States after being absent nearly 70 years and the most remarkably how "trophic cascade" occurred there.
In other words, after wolves reintroduced to the park, the nature flourished and animals grew both in species and in number. Amazing!
God lets wolves in our lives although "He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul." (Psalm 23:2.)
Those wolves are used by our Almighty God for our good. He does this by fulfilling His promise in Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
We don’t have God’s mind. We don’t see with God’s eyes. 1 Corinthians 13:12 says, “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”
He created them actually. Genesis 1:31 says: “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”

Seeing Life from God's View
The Purpose Driven Life (Rick Warren) - book note
Seeing Life from God’s View - Chapter 5
The way you see your life shapes your life.
Your unspoken life metaphor influences your life more than you realize.
Bible says, “Do not conform yourself to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God.”
The Bible offers 3 metaphors that teach us God’s view of life:
- Life is a test, life is a trust, life is a temporary assignment.
Chapter 6. Life is a temporary assignment
God is very blunt about the danger of living for the here and now and adopting the values priorities, and lifestyles of the world around us. When flirt with the we temptations of this world, God calls it spiritual adultery. The Bible says, You are cheating on God. If all you want is your own flirting way, with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. James 4:4 (msg)
Imagine if you were asked by your country to be an ambassador to an enemy nation. You would probably have to learn a new language and adapt to some customs and cultural differences in order to be polite and to accomplish your mission. As an ambassador you would not be able to isolate yourself from the enemy. To fulfill your mission, you would have to have contact and relate to them.
But suppose you became so comfortable with this foreign country that you fell in love with it, preferring it to your homeland. Your loyalty and commitment would change. Your role as an ambassador would be compromised. Instead of representing your home country, you would start acting like the enemy. You’d be a traitor.
The Bible says, “We are Christ’s ambassadors." Sadly, many Christians have betrayed their King and his kingdom. They have foolishly concluded that because they live on earth, it’s their home. It is not. The Bible is clear: “Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul.”
God warns us not attached to what’s around us because it is to get too temporary. We’re told, “Those infrequent contact with the things of the world should make good use of them without becoming attached to them, for word all contains will pass away.”
In order to keep us from becoming too attached earth, God to allows us to feel a significant amount of discontent and dissatisfaction in life -longings that will never be fulfilled on this side of eternity. We’re not completely happy here because we’re not supposed to be! Earth is not our final home; we were created for something much better.
It is a fatal mistake to assume that God's goal for life is your material prosperity or popular the world it. The success, as define abundant life has nothing to do with material abundance, and faithfulness to God does not guarantee success in a career or even in ministry. Never focus on temporary crowns.
Made to Last Forever
The Purpose Driven Life (Rick Warren) - book note
Made to Last Forever - Chapter 4
Surely God would not have created such a being as man to exist only for a day! No, no, man was made for immortality. - Abraham Lincoln
"But a small parenthesis in eternity." - Sir Thomas Browne
The Bible calls your earthly body a "tent", but refers to your future body as a "house." ~ "When this tent we live in - our body here on earth - is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home he himself has made, which will last forever."
Start living in light of eternity, and that will color how you handle everything. And, your values will change. You use time and money more wisely.
Paul said, "I once thought all these things were so very important, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done."
Describing eternity to man is like trying to describe the Internet to an ant. :)
C. S. Lewis captured the concept of eternity on the last page of the Chronicles of Narnia.
Just as the nine months you spent in your mother's womb were not an end in themselves but preparation for life, so this life is preparation for the next.
