INTRUDERS
{ A thread RP challenge of view your character from another's point of view. I wrote this when Ozren had just turned three and was deeply influenced by the actions of the South Winds Pack}
Warm rays of high noon sun beat down on the narrow umbrellas of oak and pine, shielding the floor of the forest from its reaching fingers. Light that slipped through the heavy canopy captured the light earthy tones on the fur of a young she wolf sneaking along the bark dusted ground, making her coat shine with hidden copper and gold. The beauty of her pelt was dimmed by the expression of pure fear and worry on her face, causing her to look much older than she was. “Daur!” her voice chimed shakily. “This isn’t funny! Come out right now!” she dared not raise her voice too loud, although barely a half year old, her senses were strong enough to tell her that this territory was not a good place for her, or her runaway little brother to be lost in. She had only left her three, two month old pack brothers with Elder Whiash for only a few minutes to find some food and was horrified when she found Daur gone upon return. The she wolf kept in mind that she couldn’t blame the old wolf for letting him escape. Whiash was very on in her years and her bones had been failing her as of late. “Daur! Please come out!” she begged. ‘How could he have traveled this far so quickly?’ Her heart clenched at the thought of him getting picked up and carried off by a predator. ‘Please be all right.’ The she wolf kept her worried eyes and ears alert as she clumsily tried her best to be silent as possible. Her large paws seemingly snapping every twig and landing on every crinkly leaf, making her wince at the sound. “Da--!” her breath caught sharply in her chest when she came face to face with a territory marking not so long ago visited by another wolf in the forest. Her entire body shook as her mind quickly sorted all the scents and suspicions that were clarified by the mark just who’s Territory her brother had run into. “South Winds…” no sooner had her breathy words left her mouth she suddenly found herself looking at a swinging paw before it connected harshly to her right cheek. The force of the blow threw her small body crashing and rolling in the dirt a few feet, her back scraping against poorly placed stones. She didn’t even have a chance to regain her breath when the massive paw crashed down on her nimble bones ribcage and she was staring at a snarling black muzzle and frightening teeth with her wide hazel eyes. “Who are you and what are you doing here, Female?” The male’s deep, jagged growling voice and eerie glowing eyes speared pure fear into her wildly beating heart and for several minutes could not comprehend what he had asked her. More pressure to her ribs and his impatient growl resounding in her ears kicked her frazzled brain back into action. ‘I can’t let him find out about Duar! He’ll be killed!’ Her heart screamed. “I-I…” The pitch colored male raised a challenging eyebrow at her. “Well, Female? I grow impatient.” “I…” in the corner of her wildly searching eyes she caught the movement of a squirrel along the ground, her choice of meals these last few weeks. “I was hunting!” she blurted out, her frantic eyes snapping back to his. “I was hunting and got lost! I hadn’t realized I crossed your border!” She was sounding too desperate, her heart pounding faster than a hummingbird’s wings inside her crushed chest. The Male would have to be rather dim not to catch her lie. And by the non believing arch of his brow, amused glint in his eye and cocky smirk she knew he didn’t believe a word. “I don’t like liars, Female.” He growled, pushing his nose closer to hers and giving her a savage grin, putting those teeth far closer to her throat than she was comfortable. “Care to try again?” His leaning closer was putting too much pressure on her aching chest making her gasp for breath. “Sissy?” Never had anything else made her heart that cold in fear. Not after seeing the dead bodies of her pack scattering the ground, not the knowledge that she had to provide for three pups and a weakening elder, and not feel of the black male above her. It was that small innocent voice plunged her heart in ice as if had been dropped into the frozen over creek during the coldest winter. Time seemed to slow as she watched, horrified, the large male turn his predatory yellow eyes land on the voice’s owner that she already knew the name. “Please…” she begged. Her voice but a whisper in fear. “Please, he’s just a pup. He means no harm.” Slowly she reached a shaky paw to caress the side of his ribs, hoping to turn his attention. Her body gave a visible flinch when his fangs caught hold of her paw and applied pressure to it in a very clear warning. “Please….”

Ozren had not expected to find the young intruding female when he had escaped the chaos of the Field for a short nap. And he certainly didn’t expect to see a longed limbed pup either. Upon seeing her searching the forest he had first assumed her a spy that was chosen because of her innocent features. But he quickly ruled out that possibility, her face was to honest and her scent to clean. Curious he had followed her. She was obviously looking for someone and Ozren was determined to find out whom. When she had almost ran into the very territory marking that he had his first day in the forest he decided to make himself known. Her fear was sweet aroma to his senses, making him almost rip into her there to taste her blood. But he had a duty to gather information. And who couldn’t say he couldn’t have fun doing it. As he impatiently waited for her brain to get over its shock, he took in everything about her. The valley where her stomach should have been round, the tucking of her black tipped tail, the submissive ears, and quivering body. The scents of three male pups and an older She wolf that clung to her fur, the groan of her chest bone as he applied more pressure, threatening to break. The way her heart pumped just to the side of his mighty paw, keeping a beat of a passionate, fast paced dance. Her lie really hadn’t surprised him; he had yet to come across an intruder that spoke the truth. But he had hoped for at least some creativity. Seeing the pup, however, took him completely by surprise. He was a tiny thing, and very poorly fed, much like the female under him. Scenting the air it was clear that the pup must be the “Daur” the female had been looking for. The light pressure on his still broken and sore ribs snapped his attention back to the female. The only thing keeping from snapping her paw clean off was that she obviously had not meant to cause him any harm intentionally. The young female was pleading with him to have mercy on the pup. Unfortunately for her that was not his decision to make. Releasing her paw, he looked up to meet the eyes of the mighty wolf he knew had been watching from an earthy outcropping above on the hill.

Tongue lolling out hung over glistening white fangs from the side of his jaw, bouncing with each heavy step the great wolf took on his customary route meandering far from the heart of his territory. He didn't have to patrol so often at all, since his pack had become infamous and his territory generally avoided, but he needed a break from the constant duties of keeping things running smoothly. Although his usual rounds took him away from the chaos of the meadows, on this day he had wandered in a wider circle a few miles farther as if to temporarily escape the chains of leadership. No matter how hard he tried, those chains kept his mind heavy, and he breathed out a sharp pant pushing the thoughts away. The pack had been particularly successful lately, and a score of new litters would certainly be arriving soon.. .although all the positive was overshadowed by the death of Winry. Everything seemed to be darker due to this event, and he didn't like to admit the extent to which it had changed him. Not only she had passed on, but his grandson's mate, a longtime pack member and her mate's mother. The air of sadness was often palpable lately, and that on top of his normal concerns had awaken the old familiar loner within. All the more reason to go looking for trouble, he mused as he leapt lightly over a slanted fallen birch, tucking back legs up under his belly to clear the highest side. Besides, a good Alpha made sure his pack's borders were secure. A bright patch of midday sun found his thick tan furs shining, blending almost perfectly with the late summer forest surroundings. He looked up jaw still hanging open panting, tasting the wind and taking note of the slight shift of the leaves above from green to a more yellowish tinged hue as they began their annual transition of loosing vividness before the autumn fall. He was feeling old lately. Some of his nephews and nieces were having their first litters, and he allowed his mind to wander back to their own pup-hoods, drifting contentedly in and out of alertness with the scent of a hare or the call of a raven cutting the blue of the sky with it's utter blackness overhead while he loped on. Dropping to his belly against the bed of pine needles that littered the forest floor with muscles tensed, his body responding to instinctual sense of something. Yes, something. Something ahead, and ****, he was upwind. His black tipped ears swiveled in a ticking motion, zoning in on some faint sound, perhaps thrashing far ahead. He circled, body snaking low fluidly over and under low branches listening, eyes scanning ahead with a chilling blank stare. A name. It was a name he had heard, uttered by a female voice he was sure. Although is his recent years he has learned the hard way not to underestimate females, he also knew the natural feeling of fear any loner has when confronted with strong scent markings. The odd tree here was raked nearly bare with old scratches from his very own paws, and the scent of the pack hung dimly in the air even though this area was on the outskirts of their territory. It was fear that always gave him the advantage, and a tiny spark of anger at the intruders pinched in his gut. They would soon be much more frightened, he decided with a smirk as he heard the yip of the frightened she wolf, and with a slight pang of relief the calm and familiar voice of Ozren ringing up from down the steep embankment ahead. The relatively new male had come walking into the clearing back homeward with an arrogant attitude and a posture holding not even a lick of submission, that was beside his respectful words. He had read the honesty in this new wolf, with judgment skills that had been perfected over time and usually proved to be correct. Perhaps a little desperate for someone similar to himself to work with, the new male had skipped quickly over the many subordinate ranks to become an auxiliary held in high regard in his mind if not yet the others, something he was sure the pack would soon come to realize. With the lower ground before him and the other competent wolf on his side, his confidence tripled and he stood to his full height, impressive stature even more intimidating with his hackles raised in a spiked collar of black tinged with tan around his wide neck. He took two long strides toward the edge of the hill with his tail straight out behind into full view, and cocked his heavy head to the side to gaze downward, yellow eyes slicing over the wolves below. A demented growl rose in his throat seeing the pup, almost unintentional as he took a step to the edge and raised his tail out of pure habit. Paws splayed he lowered his head, jaw hanging open threateningly snarling, harshly white fangs poking up like daggers from his darker lips and gums. The growl faded, and his voice emerged with a calm prodding tone, as if he would not wait for the answer. "Good afternoon Oz. Intruder, state your pack and why the hell your in my land." The growl rose again from deep within his broad chest, and he lifted his head sharply singing out a dominant howl so loudly it crackled and filled the air, ringing upward back across the two miles doubtless heard by the pack. He slowly relaxed from the effort of the warning howl, letting his ears flip forward attentively locked upon the she wolf in particular with his signature blankly burning yellow gaze. A crooked smile played across his sharp features as he hopped to the side and slid most of the way down the needle covered hillside, expertly dodging a branch or two with a swift duck of his head. He shook his furs roughly, totally aware that he was prolonging the female's terror, and taking a sick pleasure in that fact. He reached the bottom with a light leap and stood on even ground, gazing down rudely looking the female over, mind automatically ignoring the lanky pup who's scent seemed to fit in with hers.

He thought the she wolf might die of fear right there below him when her wide eyes landed on Anubis’s intimidating and terrifying form. Her rapid heart was about to beat right out of her chest and her very bones shook like a leaf in an autumn’s breeze. Nodding at his greeting and seeing that his Alpha had the female’s complete attention; Ozren kept a watchful eye on the confused and wary pup. Although not a threat, he really didn’t want any little surprises such as a bitten paw, slash against his nose, or a bite on his ear. Ozren got that enough from Anubis’s pups. As Anubis joined them he released some of the rib crushing pressure he cruelly put upon her so that she may answer the Alpha’s questions with little problem. She took two hitched breaths then began to speak. “I…we…” she corrected, shooting a glance at the nervously pacing pup. “…are from the Red Woods Pack.” She paused looking back into Anubis eyes, which caused another tremor to shake her thin body. “They...they are all…dead now. It’s just the pups, Elder Whiash and me.” Another shaky inhale. “He didn’t know any better! I was just trying to find him! Please spare us! I’ll do anything! PLEASE!” Ozren growled at the sudden attack to his ears with her shrieked pleas. Throwing his weight against her again he took pleasure in hearing the faint cracking of her bones and her pain filled gasp. “Be silent Female.” Ozren snarled in her expressive face. “I like my hearing the way it is. I don’t need you deafening me with your screaming.” His ears were pinned to his head, camouflaged in his fur. “Don’t yell at Fawn!” Ozren turned and snarled at the pup too.

Anubis was thinking past the words he heard, dissecting the female's voice for hidden tones or the twitch in her lip telling of an untruth. It bored him nearly to tears to hear another common, submissive and pitiful story. His eyes yellow eyes read blatant annoyance, and he remained standing impatiently, tail tip flickering high side to side. There were only a few reasons a pack would be exterminated, he knew them well; the pack's leader had made faulty decisions, or they had chosen the wrong enemy. The third was weakness. At the moment, fear again was on his side. Fear is what kept him in power, and he would not waste time on something unless it was a worthy challenge or he knew he could prevail. The female was not very interesting to him. Maybe the elder would be more interesting he pondered as the female blubbered on. Then the pup spoke, which irritated him all the more. "Don't yell at Fawn!" His eyes snapped like a magnet onto the youth, face blankly expressionless. What a dumb kid, has some balls though; more then he could say about the female. Her overdone fear and submissiveness made his teeth almost literally itch. He could appreciate the arrogance of the pup, and was momentarily reminded of his own kids. He was by no means a strict father, remembering all too well what it was like to be ordered around as an Alpha's kid himself; thus he preferred to allow his kids to have the run of things. It showed him their spirit and character in watching how they treated their future subordinates. But this was not his pup. The massive tan wolf lifted a paw just slightly off the ground without moving and tilted it purposefully so his jagged claws were revealed. He leaned over quickly reaching out and swung smashing the pup in the side of the face and sending it rolling smack into a tree trunk. He looked on after the pup, a strange demented glaze shading the brightness of his eyes for a split second as he fought back the urge to tear the intruder youth to nothing, imagining the delectable screams that would surely follow. A horrified gasp flew from the she wolf as she craned her neck to look upon her brother, his small limp form leaning awkwardly against the bark with an angry red welt on his face showing just beneath his thin pup furs. Then she got that look on her face. Anubis smiled crookedly, as that look never seemed to grow old for him, all the many time's he'd seen it. She looked straight at him this time, her lip quivering as she halfway snarled. Pup killers, her mind raced, and it was so very obvious what she was thinking that Anubis had to laugh. The boisterous sound of his smooth laughter was so confident it was annoying, something he honed over his life to try and bring the inner beast out of an opponent and prod them into reckless violence. The funny thing is, is that he never really considered himself a "pup killer". It seemed like any violent wolf was automatically accused of this. The term was offensive, which is why he rarely corrected those who called him that, mostly because he enjoyed having an unnerving reputation. He had heard an old story, back as little more then a yearling loner, from a wolf who shall remain nameless here. The term was developed as a joke, meant initially as a boogey man tale that would unsettle the peaceful, boring wolves that hung around the lands polluting the air with their peaceful stupidity and failness. Problem is, some idiotic evil wolves took the name and ran about slaying pupehs, making it feared and hated everywhere. Now a days, the title held a certain prestige and nearly every evil pack called themselves killers. The old wolf had explained that the real original "pup killers" did not murder babes without thought; It was always cunningly thought out and always for a reason. Anubis was seriously considering killing the pup, if not as an example of what happened to rouge intruders, but simply because he felt like it. He answered the accusing glare of the she wolf out loud. "I don't discriminate Dear, I just kill everything." He flicked his tongue over his incisors, nose twitching ever alert to the scents upon the shifting winds, eyes finding the slumped pup by the tree for a second time while he spoke as if his very gaze on her brother would extract the answer he wanted. Perhaps the pup's death could wait until he met this elder.. or maybe not. He was growing terribly impatient and bored with this, and allowed it to show with the ticking movement of his pointed ears. "Elder eh? Where is she?"

Ozren could feel the rage pouring off of the female and see loathing burning in her eyes as she stared at Anubis, smothering her fear momentarily. He really didn’t understand females. It was clear that the pup was alive by the obvious movement of his thin sides. But, as usual, whenever it comes to hurting a female’s pup they tend to… get a little hostile. “Let me go.” He perked his ears toward the young wolf. Her eyes shadowed from him by the angle of her head. She couldn’t have just said what he thought she did. “I said…” her small laughable fangs peaked out from under a lifted lip. ““Let. Me. GO!”” she snarled up at him, stretching her neck up to try and get a bite out of his face. With a bored tilt, Ozren avoided her weak attack and lifted the paw he had on her chest to catch the underside of her chin, making it snap painfully closed. He then pushed her head back to the dirty ground and leaned in close to her ear, ignoring her frantic struggles to escape him. “You would do well to listen to the Alpha of the South Winds Pack, little Fawn.” She jerked to a stop at the sound of her name being whispered into her ear, making her involuntarily shudder. She did everything in her power to not look at the wolf above her, Anubis watching in amused boredom or the pup slumped only a few feet away. Taking joy at her obvious distress, the black wolf used his paw to tilt her head so she had no choice but to look at the pup, making sure his nails were pressed up against the tender arch of her throat. “Or you may end up in worse condition then our little friend there.” His tone was mockingly seductive as he whispered to her. Loving how well the female’s young mind and body reacted to him. “Tell us. Where is the Elder?” Ozren could smell the fear swallow her up again and couldn’t help the smirk that spread across his face. He dropped his voice into a deep husk knowing that he was one sick bastard to enjoy messing with a young female’s emotions but got a satisfied thrill out of it anyway. “Tell me, Fawn.” He knew that his sudden mood change from killer to lover toward her was throwing her off and he had all confidence that she would give them the information they needed. “I… She’s…uh…” she stammered, frowning as if it was hard to think. Ozren shared at amused look with Anubis before leaning into the female and giving her a small teasing nip on her jaw. Yellow eye’s bright with dark laughter. “Whiash is with the pups just to the east of here by the fallen oak tree!” Her breath came in short breaths as Ozren leaned away from her, a pleased chuckle rumbling in his chest. Stepping over the female as if she were just a small twig in a path, Ozren made his way over to the gaining conscious pup while speaking to the observing Anubis over his shoulder.
“Shall we go pay this “Whiash by the fallen oak tree” a visit, Anubis?” He asked lightly, swooping his maw down to capture the frightened pup in his deadly jaws, giving the confused and flustered female a devilishly smug look. Before turning his attention back to the Alpha wolf.

His fur slowly rose across his back, a wave of black along his spine sticking upward mingled with tan undercoat. The familiar urge to end her life crept up surprisingly sudden as he observed Ozren's frighteningly adept skills, touched with the tinge of pride that always came when pack mates behaved so cunningly evil. The female became like a puppet under the heavily built black male, choking out the location of her elder with not much more then a breathless stutter. Anubis sniffed loudly, half pleased by her ignorance but more so annoyed as he continued to watch her. She was worthless and foolish, and certainly of no use to him now. Definitely not deserving of mercy, he was sure of that. Even if she hadn't revealed the location of the wolf, he could easily track it down now that the intruder's scents were more familiar to him. Scent. The Alpha lifted his muzzle slightly at an angle, nose twitching hurriedly as a scent stung it. He muttered a sternly commanding "Get up." to Fawn. Yellow eyes flickered back to the movement of Oz as he stepped past Fawn and took three long strides to the tree, scooping the dazed pup up and grasping it by the scruff. Anubis's nose wrinkled at the sharp pleasant odor; a thin line of blood crawled slowly down the side of the dangling pup's face, the smell momentarily overwhelming his other senses so that he barely heard his pack mate suggest they find the elder. He watched it trickle downwards as the first drop splattered onto Ozren's paw below, shining wetly crimson mingled with his dark fur. Anubis lowered his head, yellow eyes slicing downwards over the pup's throat before raising to meet the similarly yellow optics of Oz. A thin wavering growl rose from his left where the female crouched, and he pinned the ear closest to her back as if insulting the sound's weakness. Although she indeed felt as though her paws were frozen to the ground, her body responded to the Alpha's hungry eyes on her brother and the fur around her thin neck bristled even more as Anubis turned his head sharply with a bright smile. Fangs glinting at her he prowled toward Oz, heavy paws pressing the dirt down as he rolled his shoulders back and snapped his head toward the pup in stalking mode. stretching his neck out to nudge where the pup's scruff met Oz's jaws, his lips parted baring front teeth. The pup's paw twitched lightly as his eyes fluttered open and then shot wide, spinning his lanky legs in effort to get down.
The scrambling movement pushed him to work, and Anubis craned his mouth wide, a strip of drool splitting as he opened his mouth before he hammered his jaws down on one of the youth's scrawny hind legs with a sickening crunch. Craning his neck to one side he tugged upward with a forceful yank, causing the pup to stretch awkwardly between the two males holding it. Canines grating against the thin leg bone, Bus barely felt the flesh slice away before the leg snapped loudly and the pup screamed a painful yowl, it's back straightening in a jolt of agony causing it to slip from Oz's grasp. It dangled from the Alpha's jaws flapping upside down in a seizure like shake for a moment, it's fractured back leg bent at a sharp angle with blood rushing in a torrent down his flanks. Anubis raised a fore paw and pushed down on the back of the hanging pup's neck, stretching it to the ground and tugging upward expertly popping the leg out of socket with a muffled knock. The pup writhed passing out from the pain and went into some kind of shock. Sprawling his paws over it's small ribs Anubis sunk to a crouch, starkly white section of the fractured leg sticking from the side of his mouth; torn ligaments visible throbbing long rivulets of crimson over his tan chest furs. Still holding firmly, blank eyes danced back to the female..

The second Anubis’s eyes locked on to the Female’s it caused her to react like her namesake hearing a gunshot. Her small body curled up, back arching and sprung away from the ground with such force that her paws kicked up the dirt and leaves beneath her. Eyes wild and small fangs bared, she lunged for Anubis’s throat, but never met her target. Ozren’s own fangs flashed just before sinking them just above her hip bone along her spine, stopping her flight instantly. The young crazed female clawed at the dirt at Anubis’s feet, jaws snapping, still trying to reach flesh. The longer Ozren held her in place just scant inches from her target the more wild her struggles became. Her mind too far gone in rage to care about the red trails sinking from her back onto the now scraped up forest floor below. Feeling that his Alpha was done with her little show, Ozren took two steps back, braced his muscles and swung his neck around. Fawn’s body dragged along the dirt, still madly clawing, before becoming air born and landing harshly on her neck and right shoulder. He leisurely walked toward her struggling form, ignoring her pup like snarls, and clasped her around the throat. Her maw was open wide trying to get a bite out of her attacker, copper ears flattened to the point of invisibility. Arching his powerful neck, Ozren lifted the front of her body off the kicked up ground and placed a heavy paw in the valley between her knee and stomach; bending her spine in such a way so that if she chose to flail it would be her breaking her own back. Her front legs were stretched out rigged and her face froze in a silent snarl. Eyes cold, Ozren slowly pulled her hips closer to his right side while pulling her head to his left with his fangs. Using his own body as the block so as to force her brittle young spine to bend farther back then nature intended. A strangled whimper escaped her throat as she was cruelly stretched. Her skin pulled tight against her starving ribs and her entire blood stained underbelly was exposed toward Anubis like some sick offering. The black male could hear every painful pop of her breaking spine and the erratic hammering of her small heart. Ozren growled in delight just as his eyes flashed to meet Anubis’s blood thirsty ones.

Big round brown puppy eyes glazed over as they stared blankly, floating in and out of consciousness watching helpless as his sister’s fragile body was cruelly contorted under the might of Ozren. Popping sounds rang out noisily as her spinal column shattered under the pressures applied by his wide dark paws. The young pup lay with Anubis hunched over it, his massive paws splayed grasping it’s ribs like a lion over the slaughtered lamb, one scrawny back leg still clamped up in his massive jaws with it’s chest rising and falling erratically mushed into the pine needles and leaves of the forest floor. Then all sound ceased and an eerily peaceful silence washed over them. The twittering of birds mingled with the wind, the forest always forgiving and moving onward despite the gruesome bloodshed. The calm allowed Anubis a moment to reconsider the repercussions of the killing. He wouldn’t have killed the pair at all had the resulting risk been great; from the moment he had set eyes upon the intruder from atop the hill, he had already weighed the options in his head. He also had ample experience in handling this type of situation. He knew the elder was most likely weakened by her years, and her only companions were the pups.. perhaps. He knew far better then to underestimate, although he doubted the pitiful female could have snuck a lie past him at all. Anubis had chosen the option that he usually chose; fear, again. Fear was an amazing emotion, far more effective then reasoning or anger could ever be to him. They would know the scent of their dead kin on him immediately. They would not mince words or play games; rather they would take him as he wanted to be taken, dead serious, before he even spoke. A nip of chill within the breeze heralding the approaching fall jerked the Alpha’s mind back from the completed task. He dropped the shattered leg lightly and leaned back still crouched, yellow eyes gleaming thoughtfully as his tongue flicked over his jowls and stirred a long tendril of bloody drool that hung down touching the broken pup’s back. He began to pant with a pleasant expression, not feeling even a slight hint of guilt for the young life he had just ruined, mouth curved upward in a content smile. He never got sick of killing, and he didn't care or even bother to check if the pup was fully dead. As the cool end of summer wind had just reminded him, the elements along with the scavengers of the night forest would assure it’s end. Anubis hefted himself up with one powerful front paw, resulting in a muffled crack from the tiny rib cage under it. He yawned idly, stretching his neck up and shaking tan pelt, letting the moment hang. Taking one long stride over the shattered pup and cocking his head to the side, the Alpha’s glinting fangs smiled sharply at Ozren; he could hear the grating breath of the she wolf leaving her lungs like a rhythm in his head and knew she was close to death. Without a word he brushed past him, black tail tip flickering under his chin commanding the black wolf to follow and commending his skill. Silent body language revealed their next task inaudibly as he vanished into the thicket. Dusk was approaching, the blue sky above fading under twist of red and orange.
GROVE
Ozren walked gracefully among the trees, his silky fur brushing against reaching leaves of foliage. An ear flicked back as he heard the faint outraged scream of a wolf and the chorusing laughter of others in the field not too far away. Rolling his eyes affectionately at their behavior he shook his head lightly before continuing his walk. The pads of his paws were silent on the pine-needled ground as he looked for a quite nook to take his nap. Ahead of him he spotted a large smoothed over rock blanketed in moss, the rays of the afternoon sun streaming though the forest’s leaves made the moss glow enchantingly. Smirking, Ozren slowly approached, going down the small hill to where the boulder slept amongst the trees. It stood over the male wolf like a guardian, strong, still, and quite. The wolf gave it an appreciative look just before curling up at its base in a bed of leaves. Ozren closed his tired eyes and with a sigh allowed his body to fully relax and his mind wander the skies. His mind drifted along the winds, away from the forest and sped towards the snowcapped mountains on the horizon. Behind a screen of hazed white he saw a small pack of white wolves huddled together for warmth. A swirl of snow clouded his vision for just a moment before it reviled to him the thin and delicate face of his mother, the Alphess Flay. Her amber eyes were warm as she spoke in hushed tones to the gray chinned wolf Nogkt, who Ozren felt took the place in his heart that his father should have filled. The scene changed again with a flurry of snow, showing a mighty white wolf overlooking the surrounding area with fierce yellow eyes, seeming taking no notice of the biting wind. ‘Father...’ the wind whispered, its haunting voice surrounding every corner of his mind. Athouse, Alpha of the Gray Rock Pack stood with his head held royally and his large ears erect. He had the very image of a mighty intimidating Lord. Suddenly, his head turned, casting his piercing eyes directly into his mind’s eye. A storm of wind and snow rose up around the white wolf, swallowing him up in its blinding white, an eagle’s sharp cry cut through the howl of the wind. With a jolt Ozren’s mirroring eyes shot open, looking wildly around him but only seeing comforting green and warm browns. Panting he shook head to get the eagle’s haunting cry out of his ears and looked down at his pitch black paws. ‘Black, huh?’ the image of the white pack coming to his mind’s eye. ‘Heh. Well…you know what they say Father…’ He stood swiftly to his paws, turning to give the boulder one last look. ‘…there’s a black sheep in every family.’ Ozren then ran to rejoin his family in the bright and open field, ignoring the cry of the eagle behind him in the grove.

NEAR THE BORDER
(My audition RP piece to join the South Winds Pack)
Shadowed trees swayed in the night’s breeze, their leaves dancing to a song only they heard. The moon’s gleam peered through the boughs of the old oaks and firs, casting slotted patterns upon the rich foliage below. The gossiping crickets suddenly hushed when they detected a stranger among them. Light paws carefully guided themselves around twigs and reaching bushes so as not to make any unnecessary sound. With practiced calm the male wolf made his way closer to the edge of the tree line where he knew, not only by scent, that a great pack resided. The moon’s reaching light caught his sharp eyes and for a moment they seemed to glow a most hunting yellow. His black fur shined almost like silk before once again being cast into shadow. His silent steps paused right where the shadow of the forest ended and the light of the clearing began. He took one last calming breath, raised his head high, squared his shoulders, and stepped into the clearing’s judging eyes.
Taking that he had not been viciously ripped to shreds upon revealing himself as a good sign that he was welcome; he trotted quickly to the opposite side of the clearing, his paws brushing against the playful grass, until his body was once again engulfed in the familiar shadow. Turning his head back, he gave the clearing a parting smirk and began his exploration of the new territory. He took in all the overwhelming scents, quickly noticing that as he went deeper into the forest, the more prominent the scents of other wolves got. Knowing that heading right in the middle of the territory without at least having encountered ‘one’ wolf would not be his most brilliant plan, the male skirted the edges of the territory. Leaping over moss covered rocks and weaving around thick dark trunks he kept to his path; senses on high alert for any sort of sound, scent or movement. ‘Though,’ he thought. ‘With this kind of pack my senses are most likely useless.’ He frowned, glancing from the corner of his eye over his left shoulder slightly, the fur at the nap of his neck bristling. ‘This might not go over as well as I had hoped.’

‘If those birds don’t shut their annoying beaks soon I’m going to climb up those trees and rip them off their cheerful faces.’ The male wolf thought venomously. He never was a morning wolf but today he felt even more irritated than usual. The cause being that he could just not shake the feeling of being watched even as he bedded down amongst leaves and ferns last night, leading to a restless sleep. Cracking one amber eye open, he gave the treetops a frigid glare before sluggishly getting to his feet. ‘This isn’t good.’ He grumbled in his head, his expression sour. ‘The trip here was tiring in itself. I can’t afford to be caught off guard now. I’ll find some food then rest my eyes a bit.’ A bird chirped merrily above him. “Oh, shut up.” He growled. ‘Stupid birds.’
~~~~~~
The scents of the firs and pines soothed the male’s irritation quickly as he continued his travels in search for food. He took his time about it though, enjoying the discovery of new plants he never saw up in the mountains with his Father’s Pack. He was slowly starting to relax, which a voice in the back of his head objected to loudly, the forest just seemed to have that effect on him. Suddenly he stopped dead in his tracks. There, carved savagely into the rough outer skin of an oak, was a clawed in territory marking. Ears going back briefly he stepped closer cautiously, as if it would attack him just as fiercely as its creator did the bark. Neck stretched, he sniffed at the mark and noted the scent of the creator. It was strong and very overwhelming. Jerking back he swung his head to looks behind him frantically. His eyes taking in all details of the surrounding area in one glance, his ears erect. Seeing nothing he took one last long look at the forbidding mark before slowly and cautiously walking around it, head level. ~Ozren
The dim dancing moonlight found the vividly tan fur of the Alpha sitting atop a fallen log in the center of the clearing. He perched on his belly, thick neck raised in statuesque posture with a certain distinguished grace, like a king holding court. The masses of wolves meandered about before him, chatting and playing, their growling and yipping echoing erratically into the shrouded forest beyond. The late summer's wind slipped smoothly over the long grass, leaving it swirling in a barrage of moonlit circles as it whisked its way up toward the mountain in the distance. Anubis' yellow eyes flickered wordlessly over the scene, one ear cupped forward attentive to the many conversations. Suddenly the small frightened squeak of a pup's growl rang out from the left by the treeline, and the Alpha's heavy head snapped sharply seeking the source of the pup's fear. He pulls his legs under into a crouch, leg muscles tensed beneath him before standing tall, fur of his neck bristling in pointed shades of tan and black muted by the night's darkness.
The commotion of the clearing ceased as he stood, all eyes following his sharp yellow gaze as a guttural growl rumbled forth from his wide chest. When his eyes found the loner, they glimmered icily for a split second, burning into the depths of the loner's with a rude searching glare. He leapt down, mighty paws thudding against the bare dirt and loped pointedly straight at the wolf, skirting a wolf or two on his way past. Seemingly in unison the pack began to growl, spitting and fierce snarls ringing behind him as he finally stopped, paw lifted in step facing the dark wolf. His body language projected utter dominance, hackles up all over and jaw hanging open threateningly, barely sheathing the array of glistening fangs beneath. Tail shooting high like a banner, his ears flipped back curving to points along his head, yellow eyes studying almost amused. Straightforward words "What you want?"
‘S***!’ His mind screamed. Really, he knew he should have not taken that last turn. He had landed himself just at the edge of the Pack's clearing and plain sight as well. While cursing the traitorous wind he slowly started to back pedal into the trees for better cover when he was spotted by the pup. Closing his eyes briefly he swore again under his breath and turned to meet the eyes of the Pack’s Alpha… ‘…and the whole pack. Triple S***.’ He jerked back the present when the Alpha stood above him and voiced his question. ‘“What do I want?”?’ he replayed. ‘To get out of this alive!’ “Merely a…calm meeting with you Alpha, if that’s not too much trouble.” His voice was clam despite the chaos in his head. His father had taught him how to hide his true emotions, and he did so with his trademark smirk. “I am known as Ozren. My father is the Alpha of the Gray Rock Pack up in the mountains far from here.” He paused, waiting for a response.
Seeing that he was getting nothing but a blank stare and more growls from the Pack, Ozren continued. “I have come here hoping to be welcome as a new member of your Pack. And I assume I need to…” he cast a slightly uneasy eye around at the other wolves. “…prove myself.” He locked eyes again with the large Alpha, knowing he was giving a blatant challenge but hoping that his arrogance would appeal to him in some way. ‘Or it could get you killed.’ Voiced his conscience.
‘Or that.’ He raised an eyebrow slightly and gave his head a slight tilt.
The first seven pictures are ones I did of Ozren myself when I started to get a good handle on how to draw in Photoshop. The second to last was in celebration of Halloween for Just Run. The coloring of the wolf was done by my friend Jen-Jen Rose who everyone should go and admire her art then throw money at her for commissions. The last pic being a commission she did for me. LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS!!
Here's the rest of the story from scanned sketches from my sketch book. I hope in the future I can finish it.
I had started to drat out Ozren's Back story in a long panel form, as I could edit the spacing on the submission page to have no breaks. Sadly, these were the only pages I got done before my laptop crashed, taking all the original work with it.
Ozren Rank Photos. In South Winds Pack Ozren held the title of Story Teller, as I frequently posted Paragraph RolePlay Submissions for him.
The second two are banners I made for the Just Run Pack. Unfortunately, it was decided that they looked to much like they had a "Twilight" vibe, so they weren't up for long.
This is Ozren, a character I wrote for in both South Winds Pack under Alpha Anubis then the Just Run Pack under Alphess Norabi. I had to stop writing for personal reasons and then my laptop unexpectedly corrupted and I lost all my original psd files on all the art I did for him. Though help from some of my other RP friends I was able to get the jpeg files back, though not in their original quality. Since I'm not writing for Ozren currently I thought I would reassemble his character page for others to view and to maybe see if I can get a hold of my old crowd again.
Please respect the work that went into creating Ozren's Profile and not steal the images for your own use.
