Controlling Your Lip Shape

Have you ever been unhappy with the way your lips fit your face? Who says you need to be stuck with it! I'm not talking about expensive cosmetic surgery, I'm talking about using makeup to your advantage! Makeup is fabulous for changing your appearance, but don't forget to love yourself and the way you are in the process!

Let's get started! I'll show you guys my natural lip first. I used Rimmel Lip Liner in Eastend Snob and NYX Matte Lipstick in Pale Pink

This style is my personal favorite to do, especially when I'm getting dressed up. I call it the uni-lip, as the key to this one is simply connecting the tops of your lips above the cupid's bow. It's very Lana del Rey so of course I love it. I used Revlon ColorStay Lip Liner in Plum and Revlon Lipstick in Black Cherry.

This one is high glamour. I just extended the cupid's bow and exaggerated the lip line all around. You get fuller, lustrous lips and no botox necessary! I used the same lip liner from above and Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Bordeaux.

This one is very twenties inspired, if you ask me. It's the perfect bee stung lip! You need to blank out your lips completely with a concealer that matches your skin tone and then fill them in with a bright color in an almost heart shaped form. I used Revlon's Cherries in the Snow

This one is for you big lipped beauties who want a slimmer, classy business-esque look. Again, you need to blank out your lips with a concealer and then line them a little less than your actual lip shape. I used Starlooks Lip Liner in Naked and NYX Matte Lipstick in Indie Flick

There you have it ladies! Try these out and let us know how you like them on your lips! I would definitely try out the uni-lip first before any of them, you'll feel super sexy and very glamorous I promise!

Faux Tanning Tips

Ladies! I have been so incredibly busy with the end of the spring semester nearing but I wanted to take a few minutes and provide those of our paler readers with a few quick tips and tricks to obtain a fabulous bronze glow without harsh UVA/UVB damage! 

Let me just start by saying, that I love spray tans. I am queen of the perfect faux tan and i am not ashamed to admit it. At the end of the day, it makes you look airbrushed and helps smooth out any skin imperfections. 

To keep from turning orange, always go organic. And NEVER run into an Ultra Tan for a quick booth session. For all of our Greenville/Charleston based readers google organictansc and choose your location, make an appointment and be prepared to walk out feeling like you belong in the VS Swim catalogue. The all natural, 100% organic cocoa and coconut oil based bronzers will moisturize and heal dry, damaged parts of your skin. Most spray tans contain a chemical that binds with the oils in your skin and turns bronze by reacting with those oils, gradually becoming darker the longer you keep it on your skin without allowing your skin to come into contact with water. So when the chemicals in the spray tan are not of higher quality, your tan will reflect it. 

Finally, always exfoliate and moisturize before getting sprayed! The more open and supple your skin is, the less likely of darker, orange looking patches are to occur on dry places such as your wrists, elbows and knees.

April ipsy Bag Review!

It's that time again! My favorite day of the month when I get my ipsy in the mail! This month did not disappoint me whatsoever, honestly this may have been the best one I've received yet!

Let's get to it, shall we?

Pop! Goes the Shadow by Elizabeth Mott in Champagne

Now I have never heard of this brand before, but it kind of blew me away! Super, super pigmented, and wow what a beautiful color! perfect for the lid and creating a brown or gray smokey eye. I may look into these shadows and get more if they're this pigmented, and just $13! The only bad thing about this shadow is that when I took it out of the box, some of it was broken, but that's probably just rough handling in the mail. All in all I was very impressed! I've swatched it below:

Starlooks Lipliner in Naked

I have loved Starlooks after getting one of their eyeliners in a past ipsy bag, so this lipliner had a lot to hold up to. And honestly, it surpassed my expectations. This color is a perfect light color that can be worn alone or under a wide variety of lip colors! I like wearing it alone, it's a wonderful color! I've swatched it below:

Urban Decay's 24/7 Eyeliner in Black Velvet

This was the one item I was soooooo excited to receive this month! This liner is part of Urban Decay's new summer line and very unique in its formula. True to UD's patented waterproof liners, this one stands the test of time for sure. Not only that, but it is a matte liner, and looks exactly like velvet. I can't get over how sleek you can make it, and how smokey it can be as well. A very versatile product and I will more than likely be purchasing a full size soon! I've swatched it below:

Coastal Scents Eyeshadow Brush

Now i have pretty high brush standards, I'm such a huge Sigma fan, but this brush is really good for picking up product! It evenly placed the color all over my lid and is very versatile for blending as well! I like this brush, especially since they're very inexpensive, but I probably won't buy any more, just because I'd rather buy my Sigmas.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant

First of all, I love microdermabrasion products. I've had one done by my aesthetician and my skin has never felt softer. So once I received this product I was so excited to give it a try. It blew me away! I woke up to baby soft skin and a brighter complexion! I rubbed it in for 2 minutes and then washed it off with warm water. I highly recommend Dr. Brandt's skin care line as a whole, but this product is worth buying full size!

Here's a look I created using these products. The lipliner is all over the lip and I covered my usual winged liner with the Black Velvet liner to give it a matte suede look. I placed the eyeshadow on my lid with the Coastal Scents brush and of course last night I washed my face with the microdermabrasion.

If you haven't joined ipsy yet, I highly recommend it! It's very inexpensive and you get to try out products you may have never wanted to buy before! If you're unsatisfied with your ipsy bags, I also recommend going into your Glam Room on ipsy.com and reviewing your past bags. This really helps the team decide what to give you better!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette Tutorial

Hey guys! I'm sorry we've been so sporadic this week, but we haven't forgotten about you and our incredible love for makeup! Today I wanted to show you guys a wonderful look using the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. All I have to say about this palette is INCREDIBLE. Some of the shadows may feel chalky to the touch, but they glide on perfectly and beautifully. AND the entire thing smells like chocolate! Easy to say that I've definitely been using the crap out of this palette.

SO LETS GET STARTED SHALL WE.

1.) after I primed my eye, I used NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk as a base. This white base keeps the colors true to pan, which is helpful since we're using some pretty pastel colors.

2.) Next I brought Salted Caramel into the crease using a fluffy blending brush. I used the Sigma E25 brush. This color will act as our transition color.

3.) Then I took Strawberry Bon Bon into the inner half of the lid using a flat shader brush. Without using Milk, this color would barely show up on the pictures, just saying.

4.) Then I took Candied Violet into the outer half of the lid using the E25 again, and brought it into the crease a teeny bit.

5.) Next I took Semi-Sweet onto a pencil brush and brought it into the outer-V and into the crease. I used a Sigma E30.

6.) Now I took Creme Brûlée and placed it on the center of the lid, to pick up some highlights. I just used a normal flat shader again.

7.) Here I put Champagne Truffle in my inner corner, using some random brush, it really doesn't matter.

8.) Then I put White Chocolate onto my brow bone, using another flat shader. Then I used a smudge brush, such as the Sigma Short Shader E20, to put a mixture of Semi-Sweet and Milk Chocolate under the bottom lash line.

10.) Oh lord I look so much different after I put on face makeup. Alright lastly I put on Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner (by the way, can I just say that I'm missing my Kat Von D Liquid Eyeliner so badly). Then I put on Maybelline The Rocket Mascara and Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil in Medium Brown.

Here's the finished look! Once I finished this eye, I really felt like I had candy all over my eyelids! This is such a sweet eye look that anyone can rock, perfect for spring!

How To Make Any Glossy Lipstick Matte!

Hi Ladies! I'm sure I'm not the only one left a little frustrated at the scarce selection of matte lipstick's. For me, when summer time rolls around, I love nothing more than a bare face, a few swipes of mascara and a killer matte lip. It's my warm weather 5-minute face go-to. If you have found your perfect color in a glossier lipstick, no fear, i'll tell you step by step how to make it matte!

Step 1: Exfoliate your lip. Having a moisturized pout is essential in achieving a beautiful matte lip. 

Step 2: Apply foundation and matte powder over your lips as well as your face. Blend appropriately. 

Step 3: Apply your lipstick of choice.

Step 4: Lightly apply your matte powder to a cotton ball or piece of tissue and blot your lips with it.

Step 5: To finish, and create long lasting color, begin at Step 3 and repeat.

Wa-lah! Now you don't need to worry about investing in 2 different types of lipstick, save all that for rich bronzers and eyeshadows! ;)

The Blackest, Bestest Mascara Ever!! Oh, and might I mention its drugstore brand?

Rimmel's Lash Accelerator mascara is the best drugstore brand mascara I have ever used! (Where's the heart eye emoji on this laptop?!) It's formula was meant to help ladies grow stronger, thicker lashes overtime with the help of the formula held within the mascara. I haven't seen a huge difference in my lashes since using this BUT it is so glossy and deep noir, it's the perfect final compliment to your finished face. 

And look at that brush! It separates every lash perfectly, leaving no clumps, while still adding the perfect amount of volume at the base of your lash! Try it out! I promise ladies you will not be disappointed. You can find it at any drugstore near you for under $8 bucks.

Maybelline Color Elixir Liquid Lip Color

One word: PHENOMENAL 

These lip colors/lip glosses, whatever they are, are quite possibly one of the greatest things to ever grace my lips. I loved the first one I got so much I picked up four more.

LETS GET STARTED.

#085 Hibiscus Heaven

One of my favorites. An extremely bright, light hot pink. Great for cool colored eye makeup.

#025 Mauve Mystique

A light mauvey color, not extremely pigmented but paired with a mauve blush looks very appropriate.

#010 Celestial Coral

By far my favorite. Warm tones look best on my skin and this color can really brighten up a gold or neutral eye look.

#030 Raspberry Rhapsody

A deep red-purple color

#005 Breathtaking Apricot

Another one of my favorites. It looks bright orange in the tube but looks bright and pinky on. It also has tiny flecks of gold in it for dimension.

I love these glosses/colors/whatever they are. They stay ON, like, actually really hard to get off at some points. I wouldn't say they stain your lips but they have great pigmentation, especially for $9. I can't wait to add to my collection!

Hair Brushes

Ladies, ladies, ladies. We all know that we all have beautiful hair, even if we don't think we do. There are ways to take care of your hair, and there are ways to style your hair. 

Let's talk about ways to fix up that pretty do of yours with some brushes.

1.) Basic Styling Brush

Alright so this one is a pretty standard styling brush, a mint green one I bought from Paul Mitchell. It's great for combing out your hair as soon as you get out of the shower because the round ball ends of the tips of the brush don't catch in your hair and break it as easily as other brushes. It's also perfect for holding your hair while blow drying, to help with straightening.

2.) Big Boar Bristle Round Brush

This big ass thing is a boar bristle round brush. Since I have long hair and like my ends to be rounded towards my face, I use this brush to achieve that. The boar bristles really comb through any knots leaving it shiny and smooth, and also dry your hair faster. I love this brush and pretty much use it every time I'm straightening my hair.

3.) Thermo Active Iconic Boar Combo

This brush is crazy, and perfect for those who need to style their hair quickly and still have it look fabulous. This brush incorporates boar's hair and ionic nylon bristles to keep your hair looking smooth and speed up drying time. The hollow brush with vents make for unrestricted air flow and heats up your hair evenly. Also, there's a handy pick at the end that you can take off and put back up inside the brush just so it doesn't poke your grandmother's eye out.

4.) Boar's Hair Paddle Brush

Alright, at this point you're probably like, who is this crazy lady obsessed with boar's hair or whatever the hell it is. But the only reason I have so many brushes with this INCREDIBLE innovation is because it actually works! This is totally my favorite brush and I use it everyday, even when I let my hair do its thing. Paddle brushes are really good for de-tangling hair without ripping it out of your head, and this one leaves the hair looking shiny and healthy, even when it's not. You can find boar's hair paddle brushes pretty much at every salon, and I sincerely advise you to invest in one.

Yeah I know, pretty much a weird post about brushes, but I use all these brushes all the time, and I feel like they really improve the look of my hair, and hopefully yours as well. Let us know how it goes!

March ipsy Bag Review!

It's that time of the month again! (not that one, thank god)

IPSY BAG DAY

My personal favorite day. This month I was not disappointed, which I haven't been ever since I started to review the products I receive in my glam room online. I highly recommend doing that when you get an ipsy bag.

LET'S GET STARTED

1.) Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer

Now I've had products by Pixi before and was not totally impressed. I thought it would be a way better quality since it's exclusive to Target and Target makes incredible products. This primer says it will moisturize while evening skin tone, which I can't really tell that it evens anything out, but it definitely moisturizes without giving my face a wet look! (which is necessary for my gross oily skin). It seems to hold my makeup in place but if I notice that it doesn't later, I'll be sure to let you all know.

2.) NYX Eyeshadow Love in Rio trio in Moonlight Skinny Dip

I LOVE NYX. I love them. They are one of the most fabulous beauty lines that are totally reasonably priced. I have a couple individual eyeshadows by NYX but was thrilled to find this eyeshadow trio in my bag. Incredibly pigmented and irresistible colors. The left one is an matte off white, the middle is a slightly shimmery toffee color, and and the right one is a matte espresso dark brown. I think they look splendid as a neutral eye, using the off white as a highlight and inner corner color. I have them swatched below:

3.) Chella Liquid Eyeliner in Indigo Blue

Personally, I have never heard of Chella. In any manner whatsoever. So I was of course intrigued by this brand and what it would be like on my face. I was so happy to see that the color of this liquid eyeliner was a deep blue, almost the color of brand new dark denim jeans. I have so many black eyeliners so a colored eyeliner is always welcome to try out in a cat eye. Absolutely no feathering, and I think that this eyeliner will hold up pretty well in wet environments. The only bad thing is that the felt tip is rather long, which makes me feel that it will more than likely bend in the future. Swatched below:

4.) bareminerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Get Ready

This is actually pretty cool for you bareminerals lovers: this shade is an ipsy exclusive! I've heard a lot of people talk about how they were not crazy about this shade but I completely disagree! I am a total fan of pinky nudes and this one is super flattering, with a very creamy formula. I think this color, though not anything super exciting, could look good on anyone and a good complement for a brighter blush! Swatched below:

I loved this bag I really did! No complaints, and very good quality products. I'm sad I did not receive five products this time, but I know that these four can be used a lot in my daily routine!

Milani Blush Review

I've been falling in LOVE with blushes, especially now that it's spring! There's nothing like adding a bright pop of color to those cheeks now that we are actually warming up! I've been hearing fabulous things about these baked blushes by Milani so I decided to give them a try!

1.) Bella Rosa (on the left)

There is one word for this blush that about sums it up: PIGMENT. Holy cow this blush is extreme. a beautiful cherry pink that really brightens up the face, especially when applied to the apples of the cheeks. Watch out though, because this blush is so pigmented, it can really be dramatic on the face unless used SPARINGLY (I cannot stress this enough). But all in all, one of the prettiest pink blushes I have ever seen, and used. Here it is swatched:

2.) Red Vino (on the right)

Typically when I buy beauty products, especially at the drugstore, I try to buy something pretty normal, such as the pink Bella Rosa, and then something insanely different. Case in point is this baked blush. I've never seen anything like it before. A dusky wine color with gold shimmer baked right in. Like Bella Rosa, this is also a very pigmented blush, with high payoff. I would not recommend this blush just for anyone, but perhaps for people with a darker skin tone. The gold shimmer is not ridiculous on the face but instead brightens (it does have a sheen), but again, use sparingly!!! Below is the swatch:

All in all, these blushes are incredible, like most of Milani's products this year! The only bad point I do have to say about these is that the packaging is really terrible. Very thick, and then the blush lifts up to reveal a little blush brush. But the blush lifts up too easy and I could really do without the awful little brush.

Hope you guys like this review, I would assume most of Milani's other baked blushes are just as high in quality, so try them out and let us know how they look!
