Dear Detectives, introducing our newest and... furriest Survivor, Edgar Valden! What’s that? You say we’ve already introduced the Painter? No, no my dearest detectives, you must be confused! How could you ever forget his furry dog ears and cute curly tail? 

“Maybe they have me mistaken for someone else? Oh! Or maybe this place already has another artist? I bet they’ve never seen someone paint with their tail before! Err... I may need help getting the paint out of my fur then...”

The Painter has entered the Manor!

(Hello, hello! This is a new ask/rp blog for Edgar Valden from Identity V albeit with the twist he is part dog shiba inu if one wishes to be specific! The askbox is open and I look forward to interacting with everyone <3) (I just realized I forgot to link my rules, so here they are!)

The Painter looks at the little image with a smile, his furry tail beginning to wag. If there was one thing he liked, it was pictures of dogs! In fact, dogs and other canines were his favorite things to paint, well, aside from landscapes. Edgar's favorite thing, and the main thing he created his art about, were dogs running in landscapes. He was unsure why he liked painting and drawing these topics so much but perhaps it was simply due to the fact that, that's what he liked to do the most. There was nothing more freeing than simply sprinting as fast the artist could in a big green field. Perhaps that's why he became so good at kiting the Hunters? Though Edgar always referred to such simply as 'chase'.

"Hey!" He says, his tone indicating he's rather happy if the fact his tail is wagging quite ferociously did not already give that away. "That's like me! It's true after all, I am part dog! I guess if you want breed specifics, I'm a shiba inu. Although…" Edgar trails off, his head tilting to the side; this always being an indication he is either confused or in thought. "I'm not sure if I could be considered a purebred or not. I am still part human… Maybe that makes me a halfbreed?" The Painter offers a smile then once he untilts his head, his furry ears perked up to indicate his happiness. "It doesn't bother me either way. I'm happy with who I am!"

The artist then quickly pulls out the small notepad and pencil he always has hidden in his breast pocket and begins to draw something. "Did you draw that picture yourself?" Edgar asks while he draws. "You did a really good job! Sometimes art can be frustrating if it doesn't come out right the first time or the way you want. But the important thing is that you're trying and to have fun! As long as you like what you make, that's what's most important! And I for one really like your drawing too!" The Painter explains with much passion in his voice. It's quite clear this is something very important to him.

"Here!" He says, his tail beginning to wag once more. "I drew you something too!"

With this, Edgar flips his notepad over to reveal his own drawing:

do you still play in matches? but how can anyone hurt a cute doggy!?!

Edgar offers a small smile at the question, a smile intended to ease any worry or fear about his safety and wellbeing. It was true he still participated in Matches, even despite his… more canine characteristics. But he knows the question comes from a place of concern, after all the Manor isn't exactly the nicest place to be and perhaps one may think just because the artist possesses these characteristics then maybe he would garner a different treatment than the other Survivors. Sadly this would be incorrect, the Painter is a Survivor and just like the other Survivors, he has his role in the Matches just as they do…

"I do still play in Matches!" Edgar explains, his tail swaying gently. "But I don't think I should receive any special treatment just because of who I am, you know? I don't think that would be fair to the others… Besides!" The artist flicks one of his pointy ears and points to it. "I'm pretty good at not getting caught anyway! I can listen and hear the Hunter just as well as they can listen for me!" He points to his nose next. "That and I can sniff 'em out from a mile away!" Edgar says proudly, putting both his paws on his hips as he smiles. "Dogs have a very strong sense of smell, you know!"

The Painter then looks away, taking his paws from his hips and letting one of them play with one of the buckles of his suspenders in an air of melancholy. "As for the Hunters…" Edgar looks back. "I can't claim to know why they do what they do and… it does hurt when they do catch me," His ears slowly fall flat against his head at this statement, his tail following a similar fashion and laying still behind him, "But I'm not angry at them…"

"After all, didn't we all come to this Manor for a reason?"

who’s a good boy!!!!!! who’s a good boy!!!!!!!!!! YOU are!!!! its YOU!!!!! 💕

Edgar's furred and pointy ears instantly perk up, whatever previous task he was engaged in wholly forgotten. There was that question again he was always asked! 'Who's a good boy?' Surely this inquiry was as old as the dirt and trees themselves and one the Painter was no stranger to. He tilts his head first to the right then to the left when he hears it repeated, one of his tan-colored dog ears flicking as he ponders the answer to such a question. He’s rather certain he knows it but he can never seem to recall…

“Who’s a good boy…” Edgar repeats, bringing a paw to his chin as though to help him think better, his tone indicating he is in deep thought. There were lots of people at the Manor he would consider such, like those that were kind to him or those that rescued him in a Match. Even some of the Hunters if they were nice too! “Oh, I think there’s plenty of people here that fit that description! After all… W-Wait- Me?”

A look of surprise comes over the Painter's visage before turning into a beaming grin. Why, of course! How could he forget! He was the good boy! That was the answer to the age-old question! As if by instinct, Edgar's fluffy tail, the same color as his ears, begins wagging fervently; perhaps so much so it threatens to knock over anything that dares be behind him. Similarly the artist is filled with a pure and unbridled urge to just run. But this was a different sort of run than the one in Matches, this was one of nothing but joy and pure excitement. This was an urge that overcame all his fellow canine kin, that to simply zoom.

And luckily for Edgar, the Manor had plenty of long hallways to do just that.

"Really?! You think so?!" The Painter exclaims, utter excitement in his voice as his ears perk up again and his tail continues to wag. "Well I certainly try to be!" He bows a bit forward then, mimicking the playbow a real dog would do, an invitation to play, before he takes off out of the room and down the hall; his brown lace-up boots creating quite the ruckus on the Manor's hardwood floors.

'Chase' was one of Edgar Valden's favorite games after all.

Almost as much of a favorite as being called a good boy.
