misc hollow head designs. definitely more complicated to design than notetakers. some lore under cut
as the name implies their heads are hollow. their 'horns' are their ears.
not demonstrated well here but their outer-shell color varies between person but is always a shade of gray, lightest an off white and darkest almost black. their hair is typically darker than their shell, sometimes tinted with the color of their horns (which have a large variety of colors).
hollow heads' hair is coarse, comparable to twine or coconut fibers.
initially the species' ecological purpose was for small animals to store various seeds in their heads and spread them around when they'd eventually fall out of them. (because the image of a small animal storing seeds in a hollow head for the winter was a cute image to me.)
a new hollow head is born when a seed starts to sprout in one's head and then seeds in the ground and a woody, humanoid figure eventually grows. in this stage the forming hollow head inside is malleable and impacts/changes to the environment change the resulting hh. more time passes and the woody plant material breaks away and out comes the new hollow head.
the new hh has knowledge gained from the seed they grew from and the roots system where their plant was growing.
horns are grown the longer a hh is alive though at different rates per individual so length is not an exact correlation to age (and some individuals shave them back if they get too big).
hh have no sex characteristics but do tend to have genders - likely due to external influence over time.
hollow heads have performative teeth but no tongue. vocalization is done via some air system in their chest cavity. i don't know.
