I used to cry myself to sleep thinking of ways that I could make you come back. Trying to find out exactly where it was that I went wrong and what I had possibly done. You leaving really did damage me. I felt like I wasn’t good enough, that I would never be good enough, for you or for anyone and to be honest if it wasn’t with you I didn’t want anyone. I lost the life in me, that feeling of belonging, of wonder, of curiosity, of joy. The colors had faded. I no longer saw the sky in shades of blue, or the different greens in the leaves. Everything became basic. I no longer cried, I became numb. I’m still numb.

I have loved you for years, it is not my fault that you couldn’t hear it. I should have learned how to love you with my hands, maybe then you would have paid attention. After all these years of yelling, I have lost my voice. My love was never loud enough for your ears but it was deafening to everyone else. Everyone but you.
