zoomers i am going to give you some fathrly advice: really plucked brows are coming back. dont do it. you cn permanently fuck them up and in 5 yrs when its not on trend you will look like shit. a groomed natural brow works in every era of fashion theres lots of ways to comb and style brows to trend without mangling them. im just saying this as someone who saw what happened to 80s moms who went crazy wth the tweezers

In the early 2000s, the trend was for incredibly thin eyebrows, like this:

It was so prevalent that I actually got really upset when I was 10 years old (in 2004) because I thought my eyebrows were too thick and wanted to pluck them. Both of my parents had to talk to me about it separately to keep me from doing it.

Three years later, I was getting asked how I got my eyebrows to look so nice. Literally nothing about them had changed. They were the exact same shape and thickness as they had been. It’s just that slightly thicker eyebrows were coming back into fashion.

Honestly I just despair of the fact that eyebrow “trends” are a thing that exists. Like… how the fuck did we reach a point where you are also supposed to “style” (and shape and pluck and shave and “thread” (whatever the fuck that actually is, I genuinely have no idea) and tint and tattoo and etc etc etc) your goddamn eyebrows in order to meet some arbitrary and ephemeral fashion trend.

I mean, that’s been a thing since literally forever. Consider hikimayu, the brow fashion in pre-Westernized Japan that looked like this:

Or, on the flip side, the trend in ancient Persia for having a unibrow:

It’s not a modern thing at all, it’s just that permanently fucking up your brows for the sake of fashion means you’ll never be able to be “on trend” when the pendulum swings the other way.
