Not quite! It was a subconscious manifestation, not fully under our control.
…but it is totally acceptable to question why Dialga looks like such a dork, yes.

Ahaha, you mean when the universe was young?
Sorry to say, but we were mostly just formless entities of raw timespace back then. We couldn’t make physical projections of ourselves until everything cooled down enough for matter to be a thing. Those projections are timeless, so they’re the same as you see now.
