my sister after listening to me explain who Omega Supreme is: this is like glup shitto but for transformers
nutbuster and glup shitto my beloved
No one asked for my thoughts, but that's not going to stop me lol.
As a transformers fan- yep. This is still applicable to me. I completely understand this reaction because there are SO MANY characters in this franchise.
I have had this experience before.
One time, I heard a random fan going, "I love Glit and it would be great if they showed up in a future story."
And I'm sitting here, going, who the heck is Glit? This sounds like a fake name. There's no way this is a real character.
No. It's a real Transformer. He's a Decepticon doctor who looks exactly like Ravage, but is white and blue instead. He's considered a bad Decepticon because he will help both Autobots and Decepticons. Oh, he also likes to get drunk and sing.
What????
But honestly, this isn't surprising bc the main point of this franchise is to sell robot toys and make money. You want as many characters as possible (this is why they killed Optimus in the 86 movie so they could sell toys of new, incoming characters- which ended up being a huge mistake.)
So yeah, even though I consider myself a TF fan who knows a good number of characters and a lot of lore, I'm still surprised once in a while by the existence of really, really obscure characters.
Yeah, I'm always the first to admit that Transformers names can be pretty ridiculous. Every time I talk about my favorite guys I have to listen to myself unironically say "Yeah, Pipes and Cog are two of my favorite guys"
My condolences to the unfortunately-named Erector. And Lube. And Squeezeplay.
Unfortunately...
I'm.
Not.
Joking.

seasoned transformers fans waiting to explain 40 years worth of lore to a tf1 new fan who asks the name of a random bot standing in a crowd scene

When the story has a sequence where the characters each get personally tortured with their exact personalized greatest fears and traumas
More people should get into poly shipping. Both because polyamory is awesome and because it's really fun to make complicated ass diagrams
Racism in fandom spaces is actually insanely bad and if you ever try to downplay or avoid conversations about it because "fandom is supposed to be fun" then I'm not sorry to say this: You're adding on to the problem.
If POC speaking up about a fandom's racism issue offends you more than the racism itself, you need to think about that. You need to think about how POC fighting racism offends you more than the racism.
“Fandom is supposed to be fun” and how, pray tell, hypothetical but also real stranger, are the People of color in your fandom supposed to enjoy it when they are being subject to racist attacks and harassment?
Is your ability to ignore the presence of racism worth more than their ability to have fun? Because it’s not, and I hope you can learn that and do better by your POC fandom members.

Gomez and Morticia Addams got divorced. I woke up mortified and with a sense of inexplicable dread.
you literally don’t need any other plot and i would watch the movie
Every 'normal' adult is fussing around Pugsley and Wednesday because "poor children that must be so hard for you to see mom and dad break up like this"
But the kid are absolutely unfazed, arguing that "it's alright they will be together again soon". The normie are so sad for the "children clinging to vain hopes" until Morticia and Gomez get married again two weeks after the divorce.
In the meantime Mama and Uncle Fester fight about which one of them will go to whose custody.
They pretend to argue in court and at meeting with lawyers over the splitting of the properties but that's mostly Gomez insisting to leave more and more thing to his wife in an angry voice.
At home they decided not to talk to each other so Lurch has to (begrudgingly) transmit messages from one to the other, even when they are sat on either side of the table.
That works (more or less) then Morticia says one word in french and Gomez run to cover her with kisses until Morticia remind him that they are spliting (that's the only moment he seems to regret the whole thing)
This. All of this.
Wednesday offers to help with split custody of Pugsley. her suggestion involved a big table saw
They fight over who gets to hire the expensive big-firm lawyer and who gets to hire the up-and-coming rookie divorce lawyer. It's a whole Thing.
The up and coming lawyer is Thing?
Thing wins the case
it's actually started because Thing just passed the bar exam and no one will hire Thing
10/10 post everyone, no notes.

Important snail information, please be gentle with these little creatures. You can kill them if you use the wrong method, tapping them on the shell, and waiting is the proper way to get them ready to be picked up. You can also wait till they crawl on you, but also important with snails. Wash your hands with water only if you are going to handle them, the chemicals in soap can be harmful, and the salt in your sweat is also harmful.
Drug arrives years after pandemic’s peak, but could still offer protection to vulnerable populations.
An antiviral pill has, for the first time, been shown to prevent COVID-19 in people exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus at home, according to trial results published today in the New England Journal of Medicine1. The drug could be a lifeline for those who still face real danger from the virus, such as care-home residents or transplant recipients on immune-suppressing medication.
There are good things happening in the world.
Are you confident you are the only person alive with your full name?

wait i just found out you can be nice to people and be their friend i thought we had to kill them all cause i was raised in a lab to be a living weapon
This is so silly but I'm watching a short video essay on sincerity in cinema and the creator is talking about how he watched Lord of the Rings for the first time at 17. He explains that he'd grown so used to the 'ironic' meta style commentary in the movies of the 2010's that as he was watching the opening narration of LotR, he spent the entire time waiting for the joke to come. For someone to take it all back with a zinger line. He listened to Blanchett describe and explain the backstory, and he waited for the other comedic shoe to drop.
And he kept doing it. Scene after scene.
He spent the film expecting someone to make a joke about how unserious things were or to break the fourth wall or do some other self referential type thing.
Now, maybe I'm just at that point in my cycle or maybe I'm too delicate in general, but I literally teared up hearing that. Straight up cried a bit. It is so fucking sad that sincerity and genuineness is being bred out of people.
People say all the time 'this generation can't take anything seriously!' and really, is it any wonder? Younger people have been trained out of it. You are no longer encouraged to be genuine or show emotion or be honest. You are actively punished for it. In fact, you are almost guaranteed to suffer for it.
That is so fucked up. I'm sorry to go on a bit of a random ramble rant but it's so fucking gut wrenching to see younger people lose that element of themselves. You can't express your passion without being told you're 'crashing out' or 'cringe'. You have to live in this neutral state of fear of perception, and god forbid anybody step outside of it!
You're told you should only consume and succumb and be ironic and emotionless and cool.
Listen, if you're following me and you're like.... 25 or under, let's say. Please. I beg of you. Do not fall for this rhetoric. Please, for the love of all things, feel. Feel and create and be honest with yourself. Indulge in things that make you happy. Be sincere. Wear your heart on your sleeve. Do not let this hyper-capitalistic, hyper-consumerist, self-centred, individualist culture take that from you.
Bleed yourself into the work you create. Live. Don't fucking let anyone tell you different.
