Dua seeking forgiveness from Allah

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

Translation

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Whoever says,

'I seek Allah’s forgiveness, besides Whom, none has the right to be worshipped except He, The Ever Living, The Self-Subsisting and Supporter of all, and I turn to Him in repentance.'

…Allah would forgive him even if he was one who fled during the advance of an army.”

Transliteration

astaghfirullaa-hal-ladhee laa ilaha illaa huwal-ḥayyul-qayyoomu wa atoobu ilayh

Ten Ways to Remain Firm Upon Islam

1. Seek Allah’s help for guidance and steadfastness. Allah has praised the Du’a of the scholars in the Qur’an: “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.”

2. Sit with righteous people and attend circles of remembrance of Allah like Islamic lectures enthusiastically. Visit pious people.

3. Study the lives of righteous people by reading books or listening to tapes about them. Give more emphasis on studying the biographies of the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

4. Frequently listen to Khutbahs and lectures that soften the heart and are emotional.

5. Observe the obligatory deeds, like performing the five daily prayers and making up the missed fasts of Ramadan, with care, due to the great good that obligatory deeds carry.

6. Do voluntary deeds, even if they are few, that are easy and loved by the heart. Surely the most beloved deeds to Allah are the consistent ones even if they are few, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) informed us.

7. Start memorizing the Qur’an. Recite it constantly and as much as possible. Recite what you memorized in the voluntary prayers.

8. Remember Allah and seek His forgiveness, i.e. do Dhikr and Istighfar. Surely these are easy deeds but their benefit is immense. They increase the Iman (faith) and strengthen the heart.

9. Stay as far away as possible from ‘the corrupter’s of the heart’, like bad friends, television, satellite channels, music, obscene magazines, etc.

10. Repent as quickly as possible. With sincere repentance, by the will of Allah, there will be no turning back. Indeed Allah becomes very happy when His servant repents.

How do I get myself to pray more

Assalamu Alaikum

The more you do dhikr,the more reward you will get but whatever you do be consistent in it.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are mostconsistent, even if it is small”. [Collected by Bukhaari and Muslim]

Followingare some tips.

1, Fix your prayers. Don’t ever leave salaah. This is the bestact to pray salaah at the fixed time.

2. Be dutiful to your parents. Be good with them for the sake ofAllah Subhanahu wa ta’ala. Love them and spend quality time with them.

3. The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are mostconsistent, even if it is small.

4. Be good with people for the sake of Allah Subhanahu wata’ala.

5. Be patient when something goes wrong and don’t get angry.Patience is difficult to do but it has countless reward.

6. Make habit of doing dhikr all the time. It will help in shaaAllah.

7. Send blessing upon Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

8. Gain knowledge and try to implement in your life.

9. Implement Sunnah in your daily life.

10. Make lots of dua. Ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala to help usto do deeds that will please Him and grant us jannah and save us frompunishment of Hell.

11. Spread Salaam when you meet a Muslim say Assalamu Alaikum.

12. Never think you are better than others. Always be humble

13. Don’t get jealous and pray for others

14. Be happy with Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala decree and always bethankful. It will increase your blessings in shaa Allah.

I hope it will be helpful. May Allah guide us to the straightpath.

I don't know how to go back to God. I feel like I destroyed my soul

Return to Allah.

Allah said through a hadith qudsi “O son of Adam, even if you were to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth..”

The Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, says, ‘O son of Adam, as long as you call on Me, I shall forgive you of what you have done, and think nothing of it. O son of Adam, even if your sins were to reach up to the clouds in the sky, and then you were to ask for My forgiveness, I would forgive you and think nothing of it. O son of Adam, even if you were to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth, and then you were to meet Me after death, not worshipping anything besides Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as the earth.’” [Tirmidhi]

Allah Subhanahu wa Taala says in the Qur’an:

1. Sura 25 – Al-Furqan (MAKKA) : Verse 71

And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds, then verily, he repents towards Allâh with true repentance.

2. Sura 7 – Al-Araf (MAKKA) : Verse 153

But those who committed evil deeds and then repented afterwards and believed, verily, your Lord after (all) that is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

3. Sura 25 – Al-Furqan (MAKKA) : Verse 70

Except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

4. Sura 28 – Al-Qasas (MAKKA) : Verse 67

But as for him who repented (from polytheism and sins), believed (in the Oneness of Allâh, and in His Messenger Muhammad SAW), and did righteous deeds (in the life of this world), then he will be among those who are successful.

5. Sura 4 – An-Nisa (MADINA) : Verse 17

Allâh accepts only the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and foolishness and repent soon afterwards; it is they whom Allâh will forgive and Allâh is Ever All¬Knower, All¬Wise.

Tell me about Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

I can tell you that he was an orphan who told us to honour our parents.

That he forgave and embraced the same people who exiled him from his home.

That he loved the poor and gave away all of his possessions.

That he didn’t care for leadership and rejected it when it was offered to him.

That he loved his wife and grieved after her passing for the rest of his life.

That anyone who spoke to him, felt tempted to ask if he loved them most, because thats how they felt in that moment.

That he would pray for us at night instead of sleeping until his ankles would swell.

That he emancipated slaves.

That he commanded men to honour women.

That if he was offered spoiled food, he would eat it anyway so he wouldn’t hurt the persons feelings.

That he gave his undivided attention and care to people we wouldn’t think twice about.

That he used to shorten group prayers if he heard a baby crying.

That he forgave people who stoned him and asked God to forgive them.

That he would address people who did wrong by their good nature and virtues of their character first.

That he never refused to give to anyone who asked of him.

That he commanded us to love and be kind to animals.

That he was always smiling.

That this world needs people who are able to do even one thing from everything listed here.
