Fu Hu has a weird habit when it comes to eating. The bamboo for pandas in Vienna is provided in large amounts several times a day and it is dropped everywhere. Yet, having eaten his bamboo stick, he won’t just reach for another one. Instead, he will touch his mother’s paw, open it and check what’s inside, what she has there. If she’s currently holding any piece of bamboo, he’ll take it away from her and start chewing at it. He will look for his own bamboo only after he’s checked that she doesn’t have anything in her paw. He will do that even if it’s clear that her paw is empty.
