Fc: Penelope Mitchell Positive Traits: Tough, observant, passionate, magnetic Negative Traits: Violent, secretive, irritable, remorseless
As a kid Edith knew there was one thing she could always count on; her family. Raised by miners she figured she’d end up one too, but after watching one too many of the people she loved go into those tunnels never to come back out, Edith decided she couldn’t become another statistic. After learning what she could from the scant records Dust kept and whatever information she could glean by flirting with soldiers in their barracks she learned it wasn’t just the warring cities using her town as their playground that caused problems. It’s the faulty tech and tools provided by Iron, it’s the drugs manufactured in Wheats.
Over the years Edith has become something of a vigilante, helping the people of her town get by. There are many who suspect she’s behind the mine collapses that kill only soldiers, but it’s incredibly hard to prove something like that, and nobody wants to try. Depending on who writes up the report these collapses are written off either as faulty Dawnlight tech or just another tragic accident.
To get the equipment necessary for her homemade explosives Edith has befriended many groups of pirates and bandits, doing favors and running missions with them in exchange for getting first dibs on the parts she needs. With plenty of trial and error over the years Edith has perfected her craft and can cobble together a device that will pull down specific caves, causing maximum damage to whoever is down there without destroying the entire tunnel.
Edith works at the Three Horses Bar, both to earn money she can exchange for tools and to keep track of whose armies will be where and when, in order to orchestrate her attacks. None of the soldiers have ever turned their attention to the pretty blonde bartender long enough to realize that though her smile is vacant her eyes are full of fire. Though she started in the mines Edith has been considering expanding. She lost everyone she loved a long time ago, so she doesn’t much care if she gets caught. At least she’ll go down fighting, rather than choking on mine dust and searching for an exit that has long since caved in.

Self-proclaimed, mind you. The Genius is a well-known member for the pirates, but the Genius is far more than they seem. Always one step ahead, always aware of everything going on, always on top of things, the Genius knows many secrets of the desert, among which: the true identity of Verian Dust, the unofficial leader of the Rebellion. Why? Why do you think?

The dealer came to Dust for one single purpose: to be rich. What the desert lacked, the City of Wheats had plenty: drugs. What started as a merely medical franchise soon became a full on drug cartel. Sadly for the dealer, they weren’t ready for the big league, and are now hiding out among the pirates and rebels, worried for their own safety, on the wanted list in every single city in the Valley.

Alright crew!
The second Discord event will start tomorrow! I’ve shared some plot drops over the past weeks, and given a few characters some side-missions that will play a center role in the upcoming event. Watch out for the first post tomorrow that will start off the event and set up the play, please give yourself as much freedom for chaos as you wish! Your character can do whatever they want, and I will be working with your ideas as we continue!
Event date: Monday 25th of January till Monday 1st of February midnight (GMT+1) time.
We will headcanon the end of the event most likely. Feel free to create as much chaos as you want, the only rule is that responses on discord should not exceed 400 words at a time!

ANOTHER EXPLOSION…
… and the Lord’s of Dust Bar at the heart of the Dust pirate and rebel operation is no more. Over the official channels the death of Rebel leader Verian Dust is being claimed by the Green Army. It doesn’t take long for the messages to be leaked on the unofficial channels as well, with other sources suggesting it is a ploy from their enemies to extinguish the fire.
WITHOUT MUCH WARNING…
… the second cave collapses. Out of the dirt and the dust only one survivor makes his way back to the main cavern, coughing and shouting. He’s not sure what he saw, mostly nothing, but he can be sure nobody made it out alive. Stanford Hart was certain of one thing however, in the past month, he had lost two of his people.
And if he wasn’t careful, he might loose more.
MISSION #002.5: Find the voices
Cian asked Nakia first, the Manger had no answers for him however, and whatever they heard, clearly someone in the cave needed help. He walked up to two members who hadn’t yet gone on a search or rescue. Ariel and Nolan, while he could’ve used the medic here, the voices clearly had been distressed.
“Be careful in there, whomever hides down there, they’re not miners,” Cian said. He feared the worst, perhaps some family hiding out in the mine who got trapped. People living away from Dust, people on the run. “If you get in trouble, you turn back, we’ll need you back here,” he said.
He knew Nolan would be fine, an android made for war wasn’t something he worried about. Cian handed Ariel a gun however. “Something isn’t right here. All of this, be careful, we might need you more than most.”
An additional mission for our two new characters Nolan and Ariel Lennox! Let me know if there are any questions, I’ll be lurking to give you hints as you explore ;) Check the previous plot drop for information!
FROM DEEP WITHIN THE LAST CAVE…
… voices are heard. The cave itself has not been entered for a least a month due to an earlier cave in. So there shouldn’t be any noise coming from there. Deep in the caves a small team of Wheats soldiers have been trying to unearth whatever caused the collapse, but the tunnel collapsed again on them. Whatever they were trying to unearth must’ve been worth the risks.
NON-PLAYABLE CHARACTERS (batch 2; City of Dust)
NAKIA SAAR: the Manager of the Mines
SIMONES REYES: the foreman of the MInes
tldr; 1) hates cian 2) dumb 3) ‘sexy’
Perhaps there is no one more suited to be a pirate than Beckett Walsh — after a mining accident killed his family, the boy took to the streets, easily making a living off the unassuming hearts of those foolhardy enough to fall for his bright blue eyes and too-charming smile. At sixteen, he was recruited by the main pirate gang of the City of Dust. Although the youngest in his group, Beckett quickly found his place — and a new family. But death continued to follow close behind him, and the gang fell victim to a closed mission gone wrong. He was the sole survivor, eventually volunteering to join another group under Cian's leadership. And all that pain, death, and misery? It only made him kind of an asshole.
fc: Daniel Sharman
ROLE: The Healer NAME: Ariel Lennox BIRTH: City of Dust AGE: 43 GENDER: Cis Male PRONOUNS: He/Him OCCUPATION: Medic SPECIES: Human ALIGNMENT: Anti - War FC: Joaquin Phoenix
PROMPT: A Duster suffering from a god complex. Born in the ranks of pirates the only way they could go along with their family was if they made themselves useful. Being a medic was useful.
Written aesthetics: keeping your distance, steady hands, bones aching from age-old injuries, control freak, always knowing best, swallowed the encyclopedia, telling yourself the same lies over and over, insomnia, walks alone at night, starched collars, childhood flashbacks, waking up with a start, heart racing, flirting out of boredom, making lists
Intro: TW Domestic Abuse, Alcohol Abuse, Bullying
Runt of the litter. Ariel was pushed, prodded and mocked by hoards of trigger happy brothers. The teasing later maligned into something less childlike. Black eyes, cigarette burns, bullets skimming kneecaps. Where was mum now? Born into a viscous swathe of pirates, their family culture was far from loving. Loyal and proud, but not loving. The boys were hard on Ariel.
His only escape was found by clinging to his sharp wittedness, to study and practice a trade that would make him indispensable. Luckily he found a supply and demand that the city of dust had by the bucket load. Injured bodies to heal. By the time he was a grown man, now capable of defending himself he had long quashed any violent genes with years of silent solitary study. Watching him chat someone up at a bar nowadays, it would be tough to imagine the skinny brow-beaten boy he used to be.
Timeline
Ariel was born into a family of boisterous boys who were all excellent fighters. Ariel on the other hand was a terrible fighter, but quick-witted and sharp. This didn’t stop the rain of violence that burdened Ariel his whole childhood, leaving him with bones that creak and scars littering his body.
Those days leave him with burning caution around those with a penchant for physical violence and keeps himself at a distance from the battles.
He turned to logic to defend himself, and to become indispensable. He realised quite early that his inability to fight would render him useless in the desert and even at the risk of becoming estranged from his family.
When fellow pirates returned wounded, he would exercise his expertise in fixing them up, he even dabbled in cybernetic enhancements. He commanded a new power over the flesh, one he couldn’t muster through fighting, the ability to heal.
He holds himself in high regard, and over the years he has convinced himself that he doesn’t fight because he is above such things, but the truth lies in his historic inability to throw a punch. He extends this thinking to his stance on war, he believes such things are a waste of life and are simply games for egotistical men.
He left the pirates after a younger brother returned from siege wounded. Only human, Ariel failed to heal him and he remained permanently wounded. Although his younger brother never blamed him, Ariel couldn’t deal with the grief and took his failure as a signal to move on. His grief arose from an inability to hold onto his precious self-image as the omniscient healer, but also because his younger brother was now vulnerable to the same physical weaknesses that he had been the victim of as a child.
He spent some years in the City of Iron before joining the crew, working as personal physician to many a rich socialite. But the grief about his brother never left him, and he found City of Iron full of too many vices. He had a choice to make, return to Dust and face his demons or stay in Iron and let addiction rot him away.
He has worked loyaly as a crew member for many years now, keeping in touch with his family politely but always making it out as though he is on to bigger and better things. He is a loner at heart, finding some of the crew’s volatile personalities grating, and prefers to spend time alone, although he can’t resist a beer around the fire, it reminds him too much of home.
Welcome Roamers,
Here at Pandora’s Valley we’ve just started off our second mission! However, if you are interested in joining the crew, that’s still very much possible. I will make up a new side mission for every new member that joins! If possible teaming you up with someone else to get interactions going. However it doesn’t all revolve around the mission itself, so don’t fret that you won’t be able to write with the other characters.
We currently have four open skeletons: The Navigator, a human from the City of Iron who turned to the desert when their child was killed for being a mage; The Sniper, a skilled criminal who sends money back to their family in Dust; The Gutter Rat; a dangerous individual who has fought for the mines on multiple occasions; and The Supplier, a joker whose jokes because their downfall.

BACK IN THE CITY OF DUST…
… more is happening than just a few explosions. As Neela puts her tablet back in her pocket, two more explosions cut through the market district of the desert city. New pours in, but it is slow. While Cian’s crew ensures the safety of the miners, pirates and rebels take on the two armies in small guerrilla attacks, turning Dust into a battle field. But all the news that cuts through is the sound of gunfire and possible casualties.
MISSION #002: Save the Miners
Cian was the first to get out of the car. He looked around the mines as if he had never been there before, the immensity of the whole cavern which stretched out left and right for a full kilometer. Small caves entrances were connected to the main cavern, camps were set up within it, most miners slept there, few returned home during the night.
“We’re here for-”
The foreman who was tapping away on his tablet shook his head. “No, not now, mine collapse, dealing with a virus of some kind, I can’t deal with whatever you’re selling now.”
Cian was slowly joined by by the rest of the crew.
“Come again?”
“Collapse, virus, don’t have time for you, sa? Get going.”
“We can help.”
The foreman shook his head. “We’ve contact the armies, they should be here-”
“- in a few hours. Exactly. Let us help.”
“They won’t be here at all,” Neela said, walking forward, presenting her tablet. “Explosion in Dust, decoy?”
“Shit, probably. Vale. We’re helping. Show us what’s happening.”
IT IS TIME! for mission 2! Which takes place in the Mines, and a few of you have received pre-intel from me before hand, which you can use as much as you want throughout the event ;) During the event the character of Kennedy Maddox will be supplied with some more information, and every Friday I’ll drop some additions.
We’ll start interactions tomorrow evening after i’ve posted the first plot drop!
