Ok I’m pretty sure most people who were gonna do some Hot Takes on The Girl in the Spiders Web film adaptation have already done so, but I’m late to the party and really need to get my two cents in on this one. This does contain spoilers to an extent.

I’m not here to fight anyone on the book or film, if you did or didn’t like it then that’s your right, this is purely some personal opinions on the way that the movie adaptation was handled, after sitting on my thoughts for a little while and sorting them all out. This is still rough because I literally just saw it today and am only typing this out once without editing, but seeing as I read the book in its entirety yesterday, I feel like I have a fairly accurate view still of the differences here. But to sum up what’s below the cut: The film adaptation shows a disregard of Lisbeth and other characters in a way almost paralleling the very societal opinions of them that the books themselves criticised.

the other night i tried to make a curry and i got chilli burns all over my face, so i thought to myself ‘hang on, doesn’t milk soothe chilli burns? it does’ and i couldn’t google because i couldn’t see so i just had to blindly feel my way to the fridge and pour out a bowl of milk, and then plant my face in the bowl of milk, anyway at that point the rice cooker went off and triggered a power surge which turned my electricity off, which i didn’t notice at first because i had my face in a bowl of milk and when i did emerge from the dairy prison i thought i had gone blind with chilli burns. so no i don’t really cook much.
