Hi friends, loved ones & strangers,
As some of y'all know, I lost/left my job about 6 months ago. But what some of y'all don’t know is since then I’ve been struggling heavy. It has been impossible trying to pay bills & rent, feed myself and my cat child while also combatting severe depression, physical pain & other illnesses. On top of engaging in my business as a healer, I have 2 other jobs as a delivery driver and a nanny. Not totally glorious but it allows me to have the flexibility I need to do my healing practice. Even though I work basically all day everyday; unfortunately, they don’t pay enough. So, I am constantly facing the possibility of getting my car repossessed and getting evicted & deciding between paying for groceries and having my water or electricity shut off. The center of my struggles has been paying off debt & past due utilities during these past 6 months that I’ve accumulated and have been haunting my mental, emotional and financial stability. I have very little consistent family or community support out here as a result of a lot of fucked up, violent reasons. So, I’m reaching out to y'all in the interwebs with my own fear that my situation isn’t dire enough and internalizing classist shame around my money choices makes me feel deserving of poverty and hardship. To that I say fuck capitalism! Even though my service as a healer shouldn’t be a requirement for financial support, I share my gifts via Instagram, YouTube or in person to support as many folx as possible and would just love the same support in return. In addition, the intersections I experience as a queer black woman make it very hard to even build a business or get compensated around supporting others in a healthy sustainable way. One of my ultimate goals is to create a center that supports the healing of people of color in order for us to build a world without oppression for ourselves in the now & future. This is kind of a far off dream but I can’t really get there if I can’t survive.
