It’s pretty unfortunate that Hobi and Namjoon went to the Chris Brown and Usher concert. Not so much because of Usher, but definitely because of Chris Brown, especially since that was the part of the concert they posted the most on their stories. They took photos with the guy and, I don’t know, it just feels a bit… unfortunate.
I try not to judge someone based on the people they surround themselves with, but when you’re an artist or a public figure, sometimes you do have to be mindful of being seen or photographed with certain people who are never going to bring you good press, positive publicity or, above all, a good influence. Regardless of whether you admire them musically or genuinely enjoy their work.
I honestly think there are some artists you should just enjoy privately, in your bedroom, office, car, whatever, and avoid being seen at one of their shows. Is that a bit hypocritical? Maybe. But let’s be real, loads of people do this. Plenty of people say they hate Chris Brown, and I genuinely believe they do, but there are still songs of his that they like. And that isn’t necessarily wrong, because sometimes you have to separate the artist from their art, the person from their work.
But yeah, it’s just a bit unfortunate. I got a little bit of second-hand cringe when I saw those clips of Jungkook and Taehyung listening to his music, but I thought, well, at least they’re just listening to his music and not collaborating with him, going to his concerts, etc. And then this happens. A little disappointing, not gonna lie.
And please, stop attacking fans who are expressing their disappointment on social media, at least those who are doing so genuinely and respectfully. I know a lot of people are going to use this as an opportunity to insult BTS and lump them all together, etc., and I think that’s a bit unfair.
Everyone is responsible for their own decisions and has to live with the consequences. That’s it.
Look, I’m nobody to police which concerts they go to and which ones they don’t. That’s their business. But as a woman, I absolutely can express my moral disappointment that they chose to go to Chris Brown’s concert. Because, like, they could have simply ignored the Chris Brown part, not posted it, and maybe just posted Usher’s part instead. Would that have been a bit hypocritical? Maybe. Would it have been misleading? I don’t know. But, bro, they literally took photos with the guy. At that point, it’s really difficult to even come up with a narrative to defend them.
