Ive been thinking about this for a while and i think there are so many interesting ways to go with this!
Recommend me some video essays
I’m mostly interested in history and media (film/literature/story) analysis, but I’m open to anything!
Dear neurodivergent/disabled people, what job are you doing?
I am thinking of starting a job next to my studies, but I struggle with what I want to/can do in terms of accessibility. I was hoping some of you could share your experiences regarding what kind of work you do so I know what jobs/sectors I should look out for (or avoid). If you are not comfortable sharing publicly, you are always welcome to send me a message 🫶🏻
guys I think it’s unfair to call os and rg out for queerbaiting. Both of them have always been honest about how they have no control over the storyline and that IF the writers were to go in that direction they would think it’s great. Moreover, they probably don’t have power regarding the PR schedule. Yes- it was pretty mean to throw buddie press around as a way to diffuse the whole Bobby situation, but that is not on os and rg. Most likely, they get told when/where to go and they go (because that’s their job). So, while I definitely think there was a lot of buddie-baiting these last couple episodes, I think it’s unfair to blame that on the actors. Let’s all just please be kind and appreciate the fun interviews we’ve got this last week
9-1-1 08x15 SPOILERS!!!
The thing about Bobby’s death is- it doesn’t just affect us viewers, but it has a huge impact on the characters as well.
Athena has pretty much lost everything. Her kids are grown and rarely home anymore. She lost her marriage to Michael. Her home and all her memories. And now her husband. Furthermore she has lost the her biggest tie to the 118, which story wise is not a great move. Yes she and Hen are besties, but we’ve barely seen any of that in the latest seasons. I find it difficult to imagine how they’re gonna use Athena’s character in connection to the 118 crew in terms of storytelling.
Buck will not be okay for a long time. He has lost one of the most important people to him both on a business and personal level. I cannot see how Buck can do much besides grieve for many episodes (especially if we look at how he reacted in the past about losing people). Sure he will go through the motions, go to work, etc etc, but I don’t think he will have the headspace to grow/settle in his life.
Eddie’s personal progress is also halted. He was in El Paso trying to make things better between him and Christopher. Besides, he was busy figuring out who he was and finally allowing himself to choose joy. Yet all of that is now interrupted by Bobby’s death. And, similar to Buck, I don’t see Eddie bouncing back from that soon, so it will probably take a while for him to continue his journey (if ever- (I can imagine after so much shit has happened he is just too tired to actively work on his own happiness)). Plus, the people that were vital in helping him with his religious guilt - Bobby and the priest - are now gone or tainted by that grief. Lastly, Eddie wasn’t there. So he will probably taunt himself by thinking “if I was there could I have saved him?”
Chimney will probably never forgive himself. Bobby sacrificed himself for Chimney, but he didn’t give Chim a choice in the matter. Now he will always feel guilty and at fault for Bobby’s death, even though it was his own decision. The birth of his son, which is probably already a bit stressful to him in regard to Maddie’s previous PPD, is now probably tainted by his grieve and guilt.
Hen would always feel guilty for not being able to safe Bobby. She was in there with him, and as the head-paramedic she is usually the one who makes everything better. But this time, she couldn’t. Besides, Hen will probably be the captain now that Bobby is gone (or at least intrem-captain until they get a replacement). That already by itself is a stressful job, but now she also has to deal with her own grieve as well as that of her team.
And these are just A FEW aspects of the show that are affected by Bobby’s death… And as much as I am heartbroken about Bobby’s passing, I am also grieving the show I love. Because I cannot imagine that it will ever be the same again.
the thing i keep thinking about is how katniss, despite knowing the capitol is evil and despite seeing how they edited her games to tell a story, didn’t question haymitch’s much at all really when watching them. really drilling in the message that no one is immune to propaganda.
my fav thing about sunrise on the reaping was when haymitch was like yeah caeser i'm a lone wolf 😏 i'm with the newcomers but i'm not WITH the newcomers, yknow? they call me a rascal. a rebel against the gamemasters. I scored a ONE and that is a THREAT. you do not want to mess with me 🙅
cut to him with like 20 kids following him around like ducklings, him hiding in his t-shirt, him letting a bunny guide him to safety because it reminded him of his girlfriend, and him making nightlights out of potatoes.
“[Lenore Dove] touches the snake’s head, then the bird’s in turn. ‘It takes a lot to break these two. They’re survivors.’” - Sunrise on the Reaping, page 13
I’m going to a musical soon of which I know none of the songs; should I…
Listen to the soundtrack in advance
Experience the songs live for the first time
Other (comment)/check answers
I can’t decide what would be a more fun experience, to see the songs performed as they were designed to be heard, or familiarise myself with the music and get into the vibe. What do other people usually do in these cases? I don’t often go to the theatre so I’m not too familiar with the whole experience :)

It always makes me chuckle when Odysseus says:
“Hurt more lives than I can count on my hands”
Because yes, he is technically correct. But 10+ deaths feels a little different than 600
do y'all think jonah magnus picked elias bouchard to body hop to solely because he had the most disney villain name ever. like the elias/alias pun was so on the the nose i bet jonah was giggling and kicking his feet thinking 'this is going to be SO funny in 20 years time when the archivist figures it out'

I just realised…
During Full Speed Ahead when Polites says:
I see an island, I see a light that faintly glows. Maybe they’re people lighting a fire.
And Odysseus replies with:
Something feels off here. I see fire, but there’s no smoke.
They’re actually seeing the light of the glowing seeds which the Lotus-Eaters eat. I don’t know why it took me so long to realise… In my head the Lotus-Eaters were some expert survivalists who managed to create smokeless fire 😭😂
This is probably really niche but-
Does anyone listen to both Epic the musical and the Magnus Archives?
If so, am I the only one who sees many similarities between Polites and Martin? In my head they truly are the same character in different fonts. And with that you can also make an interesting comparison between Odysseus and John.
