Sameer decided to cheat a little and take him and Lily out to eat while Aman was at work. He had Sameer on some health diet, but if Aman was expecting him to keep to it as religiously as he does… well then that wasn’t his Aman. Sameer brought Lily to an ice cream shop, for celebrating making it through her first day of school, even if it did end up being right before winter break. She seemed to be acclimating just fine with the move, fortunately. She always was adaptable like Aman was and social as the two of them put together. Which had to explain why she started talking to another child that was there so easily, as if she knew them for so long despite only moving here a couple of weeks ago.

“Looks like she made a new friend,” he said to the other parent, who must have had the same idea too. “Sameer Kapoor,” he said, introducing himself.

Derek had managed to weasel his way into a day off from the station. Well, more or less his deputies around the station had pressured their sheriff into a much needed day off. With nothing to do, he ended up picking his daughter up from her grandparents and deciding they both deserved a little treat, an ice cream cone for Evie and maybe a milkshake for himself. He had laughed at the way his little girl's lit up as they entered the shop.

"Seems like they both have," he smiled at the other as he watched the two girls talking happily. He was a little surprised Evie had taken so fast to the other, she was normally on the shy side. "Derek Greyser." he said in reply. "Nice to see 'm not the only one giving into the call of ice cream."

Derek laughed softly as the little girl in his arms squirmed in excitement. “Hush, Evie, We’re almost there you’re gonna get a chance to play soon.” He said in reply to his daughter’s pout as they made their way down the street. Evie had been looking forward to her upcoming play date with her new friend all week, happily chattering away to her father about playing with the little Ashcroft girl.

Derek had been looking forward to it too. Evie got a chance to socialize and surprisingly he and Jeremy had begin a friendship of sorts, bonding over their young children. He knocked on the front door of the Ashcroft’s residence with a smile on his face as the door opened, “Sorry we’re a bit early. This one here was rushin’ me out of the door.”

Boone grunted to himself as he sat back in his car. The message from Derek was innocent and perfectly acceptable to ask - just where was Boone hiding? The bear had been too damn excited for the all you can eat seafood buffet that he forgot about his previous plans with Derek, plans that involved Derek cooking up a storm. Or cooking up something else, Boone couldn’t remember, as he had eaten so much food at the buffet that he had to take his belt off and pull his shirt out from his pants. A shirt that no longer fit properly. He typed back a message to Derek and headed over, soon standing at the other’s door with a big smile.

“ – What’s cooking?” He asked, sniffing the air as he looked over to Derek. “Sorry I forgot the time! Little cub was, uh, a handful today!” Boone didn’t smell like garlic, lobster, or cheese biscuits. At least that’s what the bear thought, anyway. He had managed to tuck his shirt back in before knocking on Derek’s door, but the strain was real. The bear was stuffed.

Derek had spent the week excitedly looking forward to making dinner for Boone. A little dinnner date between friends while the kids were away. Harper would be with friends, the boy reaching that age where the last thing he wanted to do was spend time with his father, and little Evie with Derek's parents. It gave the werewolf a chance to put his skills to the test as he prepared quite a spread. Derek had just been finishing up cooking when he noticed Boone was late. He quickly sent the bear shifter a text as he checked on their dessert, a simple strawberry shortcake.

He had the sneaking suspicion the man may have been tempted by the new buffet in town. Derek couldn’t blame him, if he weren’t in the mood to cook he may have gone himself. Derek smiled as he opened the door, dressed in a white buttonup and jeans, sleeves still rolled up to his elbow from when he had been putting the last touches on dinner. “We've got stuffed chicken, fettuccine, salad, and a three cheese macaroni." he shook his head fondly, “Well, c’mon inside, before it gets cold!” he said with a chuckle, ushering the bear into his home and leading the way to the dining room.
