Rick Grimes in Season 7
It was a hard day - the hardest we’ve had in awhile. A man lost his arm. The project’s behind schedule. People were at each other’s throats. The thing is though, as bad as it was, when the day was done they came together. Not all of them, but enough. They chose to be together.
There are moments between Rick and Michonne in Clear that to me – there’s one in particular that when we shot it I was like, “Maybe she’s gonna see him that way one day.” The moment when we were looking for bullets and ammo, and there is none. It was an ill-devised plan. Michonne does not call Rick out for this, but he kind of thinks she does. So she hands him the one bullet that she did find after he kind of snaps at her. When we shot it the crew all looked over to Mr. Gimple, and they were like, “Are Rick and Michonne gonna get together?!” And I was like, “HUH?!” Then I thought, “Well, that makes sense actually.” For her it made sense to me because she is a woman who has to deeply respect the man she opens up to. She was already developing such a respect for him. The way she treated him versus the way she treated the Governor – she could see he was a good man burdened with leadership versus him needing leadership to feel like a man. There was something about that realization of seeing him like that: seeing his brokenness and his pain, things she could connect to, that made her put down her mess and open up more. I think it’s awesome that it took as long as it did for them to get together because it developed a very complex connection. – Danai Gurira

I want Michonne. Turn her over, and this all goes away. Is she worth it? One woman? Worth all those lives at your prison? Is she?

The Walking Dead | 9x02 - The Bridge
The decision was made a long time ago. Before any of us knew each other. When we were all strangers, who would have just passed each other on the street before the world ended. And now we mean everything to each other. You were in trouble, you were trapped. Glenn didn’t know you, but he helped you. He put himself in danger for you, and that started it all. From Atlanta, to my Daddy’s farm, to the prison, to here. To this moment now, not as strangers, as family. Because Glenn chose to be there for you, that day, a long time ago, that was the decision that changed everything. It started with both of you, and it just grew, to all of us, to sacrifice for each other, to suffer, to stand, to grieve, to give, to love, to live, to fight for each other.

You wanna know why I fell in love with you? Because you’re a fighter. And you never give up. So fight, Rick. Fight for me. Fight for all of us.
