“The folklore among knitters is that everything handmade should have at least one mistake so an evil sprit will not become trapped in the maze of perfect stitches. A missed increase or decrease, a crooked seam, a place where the tension is uneven - the mistake is a crack left open to let in the light. The evil sprit I want to usher out of my knitting and my life is at once a spirit of laziness and of over-achieving. It’s that little voice in my head that says, I won’t even try this because it doesn’t come naturally to me and I won’t be very good at it.”

That last phrase especially - “I won’t even try this because it doesn’t come naturally to me and I won’t be very good at it.” It really is like some kind of all-encompassing evil spirit sometimes.

Well! I’ve never heard this before, but it’s good to know that my “enh, wabi sabi, no one but me would ever notice this mistake” attitude has prevented my knitted items from being haunted.
Do you do this, @paperarmour? If not, ARE YOU CURRENTLY POSSESSED???
Nah, I had myself exorcised last year so I could level up to error-free knitting
That’s exactly what a possessed knitter would say.

First you start knitting, then you try crochet (or the other way around) because that cool project requires it, then you see all that marvelous embroidery and you think why not? At a certain point you wonder, is it so hard to sew clothes? Maybe you could try, and you start thinking about that old sewing machine in the attics. Then you see a video of someone spinning wool and you feel your hands itching, but wool is so expensive, how much does keeping alpacas costs, then
I feel personally called out by this post
…as I’m sitting less than 2 feet from the new quilting tools I bought, because I already sew and embroider, so I might as well combine them.
Have you ever considered keeping alpacas, @paperarmour?
Yes. Sheep are higher on my list, but yes.
I cannot tell you how real this post is. For YEARS I have said “I knit, but I’ll never get into weaving” and “spinning is CRAZY PANTS I’ll never be interested in that” and somehow I’ve come to terms with the reality that it’s only a matter of time before I get a loom and a spinning wheel and now I’m thinking “okay spinning and weaving sure but I don’t need to dye my own yarn, right? Right????!?!?!”
And the rockets’ red glare, and the bombs in air Gave us proof through the night that our flag was still there And our flag marked with blood, with the blood of our hands And our hands marked with death, with the blood of the man And the man on the cross, and the cross on our hearts Has it done nothing more, than to drive us apart?
Uh oh, you just died and now your family is planning what your tombstone will say. They decide to use your last outgoing text message... What's your tombstone say?
My last text says “Aw, thanks!”, which sounds fine to me.
“Be right down.” Uh-oh.
“idk I think it makes a difference but also I’m biased because they’re generally dicks”
i’ll take it igss
“Nope, was an older one, the fur one” Uh…
"Yep"
I am just so sad. I’m observing another school this week, and the 8th graders are reading Midsummer Night’s Dream and watching the movie along with their reading and in the movie Hermia kissed Helena goodbye and everyone was like “ewwww”
and the teacher parlayed it into a discussion about different cultures, and how that was acceptable in that situation and culture, but it was sad (though not entirely surprising) to see these kids react that way.
coupled with the fact that it’s apparently impossible for me to find a church I like that’s LGBT+ friendly because my standards are RIDICULOUSLY HIGH because I’m measuring everything up to a church that refused communion to me???? Like what the hell Laura get your goddamn life together
I feel like it isn’t your life that needs to get together because your life is pretty goddamn together. It’s the rest of the stupid world that needs to catch up to you and your neat life.
Also, point me at any 8th grade child and I will fight them, no questions asked.
@arcaneaccount seems to always know what to say when I feel so lost for words. But I second everything she said.

To everyone miffed at the featherless raptors in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World:
If you watched the first movie and/or read the book it is stated that frog DNA was included in the dinosaur genetics because INGEN lacked the entire dinosaur genome. They never go...
this is what i’m talking about when i ask for movie trivia

The best part about paperarmour's queue is when she reblogs something from me it'll post a couple days later and I'll see it and be like “WOW that's really funny” and go to reblog it and I'll see she reblogged it from me.
