i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.
Christine is my oc who I have a difficult time picturing as anything but a cartoon character, so while realism isn’t really my wheelhouse, I gave it a try
Part 3 of my favorite screenshots from my warrior/Grey Warden playthrough of Dragon Age: the Veilguard. I'll tag spoilers on this one because of a few images. That cutscene in the last shot really shows off how good the character creator really was, I feel like just about any creation would blend right in with the other models. The quality of the third act in general is just 👌
Doodles of all (ranchable and special) slimes from the first Slime Rancher game, in order of how much I like them! I actually love all of them, it was difficult putting any of them outside of my top 10. And I'm still playing Slime Rancher 2, I just don't think I've seen all the new slimes yet, so the updated list may come later!
Edited to add my giant list of reasoning for this ranking under the cut.
Crystal Slime: My absolute favorite. The color, the crystals, the sound of the crystals forming and breaking , the locations where you find them, the fact that they're not just a recolored rock slime! 10/10, they look delicious.
Tabby Slime: My solid favorite until the crystal slimes came out. They're adorable! They pounce and boop you in the face! I always keep a few free range on my ranch.
Mosaic Slime: I imagine their glass shell has a texture that doesn't exist on earth, like it's hard as glass yet still flexes when you poke it. Finding these guys in the Glass Desert is a moment I'll always remember. So pretty, so cool. The only thing that really knocks them to third place is that I find their catching things on fire to be sliiiightly more inconvenient than the crystal slimes' crystal hazards.
Phosphor Slime: A really great addition to the early game areas, like you think you've seen all the slimes and then dusk falls and these guys start spawning. I also love to fill up the cave area with dozens of them and plant them some cubeberry trees and just let them hang out. The glowing cores are awesome, I think it would be cool if more of the slimes gave the impression of being just a little transparent.
Rad Slime: Seeing these guys in the Indigo Quarry for the first time was so cool. I love how they roll around on their radioactive field instead of resting on the ground. And the fact that, in their Gordo form, the field expands as you feed them is a nice touch. Also love the color!
Puddle Slime: Soooo cute! I love the introduction to different mechanics, like having to get them a special enclosure and not put too many together because they'll get too shy to make plorts. Also the first slime you don't have to feed. I only wish they had a little more water texture, but seeing their little eyes pop out of the water is always a delight.
Pink Slime: I love them. Such a good little mascot for the game, beautiful color, pairs well with anything when ranching largos. Bet they smell like bubblegum.
Rock Slime: These also look delicious. I love the little rock crowns instead of just having them be made of rock, gives great shape variety. Beautiful shade of blue!
Quantum Slime: fascinating mechanic having them teleport, especially with the static effect, the color is beautiful, and the Ancient Ruins are probably my favorite area in the game, and this slime being there doesn't hurt! It's also the first slime I'd call really difficult to have on your ranch, but they're worth it.
Boom Slime: I love the idea of a slime that periodically explodes, stuns itself and then continues about its day. And the color and pattern are perfect.
Hunter Slime: Their design being similar to the tabby yet unique in its eyes, tufts, and invisibility mechanic is 10/10. Just the fact that making them into largos makes them hostile, so you pretty much have to keep them as meat eaters, is not to my personal preference.
Fire Slime: A variation of the Puddle Slime's design, yet unique and refreshing! Having them appear during solar anomalies in the first game was a great choice, but I also like that they hang out in lava pools in the sequel.
Honey Slime: I love seeing them in the Moss Blanket area, they're nice and hazard-free so great to make largos with, also look delicious!
Dervish Slime: I can’t explain it but this is just the perfect slime to find in the desert area. They have a unique hazard in making cyclones but not way too inconvenient to want to take some of them back to the ranch. It seems like just the kind of defense mechanism they'd need in a harsh environment.
Tangle Slime: I have pretty much no reason to be putting this slime in last place... except that I didn't bring them to my ranch because I was afraid they'd grab plorts with their vines and become Tarrs, so I probably worked with them the least. I love their color, their flower hat, their way of catching food! Another fantastic late game slime!
Special Category
Lucky Slime: A variation on the Tabby design with a satisfying little sound cue! Perfect and adorable!
Gold Slime: I love the shape variation making it look like a little droplet. They really didn’t have to go any more decorative or intricate than that to make a design that would make players rejoice/panic upon spotting one.
Glitch Slime: Of all the minigame slimes, this one disguising itself as other slimes but with a Ditto face is the greatest in my opinion. Also just a great design, I don't think I did it justice.
Quicksilver Slime: Another variation on the Puddle Slime, being all melty. I love watching them zoom by, and their little eyebrows, but it's just not my personal favorite minigame.
Saber Slime: Probably the biggest divergence from the original formula of a slime design, in my opinion. I like them, but don't often look at them very long since I'm running away from them! (Just found out from reading the wiki that you can make non-feral largo variations with them... now I'll have to try that.)
