the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.

i vividly remember reading american girl doll books as a six year old and reading that the protagonists were eight, and thinking they were so so old and i couldn't wait to be that old. spending whole sundays devouring chapter books and relating to the characters' middle school drama. what do you do when the characters you looked up to or related to as a kid are now stuck in that space that all your childhood memories are in? how do you leave them behind like you leave behind everything other part of childhood?

I just decided to post on here and I have so many questions. How did I not realize that so many people still use tumblr? Like didn't it die in 2016? Why are there so many tumblr posts on Pinterest? And how long does it take before I get those on my explore page instead of random memes? How do some people have really cool looking profiles that are actually websites? Do I have to use tags or can I rawdog it? Okay that's all I'll come back when I have an interesting thought to grace the world with.
