Jackets : New Rock bar in Le Marais
If you're anything like me and can't think of anything better than singing along to Arctic Monkeys or The Smiths after a few too many happy hour mojitos, you're in luck.
From those who brought you the ever popular bar/club Le Pompon, and Andrew Woodhead, from the of-the-minute Paris-based band Dancing Doors, comes Jackets.
Looking forward to seeing grimey converse and headbanging skills this Friday from 8pm

& Other Stories to open in Paris
Probably the greatest store to hit the highstreet in a very long while, & Other Stories, curated by the makers of H&M, is soon to be opening their store in Paris!
After opening their flagship store on Regents Street on the 8th March, & Other Stories are set to expand over the pond to provide Parisians with their architecturally structured yet rather whimsical clothing. They seem to have achieved a perfect mix of drawing upon modern day "blog" influences, whilst maintaining a clean-cut feel and not falling too heavily on throw away trends (topshop I'm looking at you). There's nothing better than concept stores so I'm more than excited to go and visit it!
Regents Street store opening - 8th March
Sophisticated & architectural - ss/13
The store is set to open their doors at 277 Rue Saint-Honoré opens at 12.00 April 5th.
figured I should start doing something with my life. here's to blogging again
trawling the internet for clubs to go to in Paris can go one of 2 ways: a list of tacky erasmus sweat-induced mega clubs, or a list presented on a poor website layout made by a questionable 30-something trying to wrack their brain for club names that are probably inexistent now.
although check out time out guide, that's pretty great for finding up-to-date places
My favourite place right now in Paris is a bar in the 10eme called L\inconnu.
The place sits on the corner of Rue de Mazagran, around Grands Boulevards/Bonne Nouvelle metros. If you're sick of obstacle course terrace tables with pretentious waiters and are looking for bars with an atmosphere definitely head to this area. The bar is sat on a road corner and by around 10pm the place is usually heaving inside and spilling out on the roads (also check if you can see this old guy from a window across the street, he tends to just stand there staring looking a bit God like on all the young prey down below. Extra points for making eye contact although you will probably wish you hadn't).
If you want feeding get there a bit earlier and try one of the BEST PLATTERS YOU WILL EVER TASTE. We had a mixed fromage et charcuterie platter and it was the greatest, most french platter I've tasted yet. (Ask the tall, french, denim shirt wearing, dark skinned guy to do it, he's so sensual when he makes it it's fascinating. And he gives more bread if you ask).
Drinks wise, unlike most bars in Paris these days you will not find a cocktail list. But ask the platter guy and he will reel off a list of ingredients and magic up a cocktail that will melt you. (Both his skills and the cocktail will melt you). Wine is 3 euros, mixers around 8, cocktails around 10.
The place just has a really great vibe and if you like this
you'll have a great time.
Also the one bar girl is hot shit and we're all lesbian for her. The place is run by this sweetheart of an English guy who told me he's been in Paris for a while now after his brother started a bar here too. He seemed genuinely flattered when I was saying how great a place I thought it was. The people behind the bar make it.

Hey I love seeing things you know pop up on tumblr. I've been meaning to go to this place for so long now, it's up the north side of the river and apparently they do the best coffee (I don't even like coffee but I still think it looks like a great place for brunch)

I've been really shitty at keeping this blog alive and have used reblogging pretty pictures of Parisian rooftops as an excuse of keeping it going. Pretty much all my friends and I out here rant away about how great it would be to have a blog and I always forget I do have one (though is tumblr really a blog? controversial) so I'm going to start using and abusing it.
So Friday night a few of my friends were going to some Latino night and I really wasn't feeling being rubbed up against some sweaty Turk (clubs like this should just be bombed now, they've had their day haven't they?) so I decided to go and stand outside Bercy stadium where Radiohead were playing, just down a few metro stops from me (and it's on LINE 6 - the best line in Paris, I honestly don't think I would have gone if it wasn't for it being on my favourite line.)
I asked a few touts how much they were selling for, 100 euros a piece and got laughed at when I suggested 20. I thought start low and barter your way to a happy medium but he told me to "allez au cinema" ... great. Was about to leave when this American guy came and asked me if I spoke English and what I was doing there, and then offered me a ticket to go in with him. Okay so I already think American people seem pretty false by their disturbingly happy demeanour, but when he got out the papers and it matched up with the guest list gates in front of us, I knew this guy was completely legit (even if he was pretty old and still seemed a little rapey.)
We got in just in time for Radiohead, the stadium was completely packed out so we had to sit on the steps in between seats, the French are great and all just sit anywhere, but no one shouts and fights like the English. Everyone was smoking indoors too and no one bats an eye, I love the French. I can't express how amazing it was. They played There, There and Everything in it's Right Place and You and Whose Army? AS IF THEY PLAYED YOU AND WHOSE ARMY! I was getting drunker and happier and this guy I was with was morphing more into Jesus with every song/sip of beer.
As soon as it ended he rushed me to the merchandise stand and told me to pick anything I wanted. The feminist inside of me rarely lets a guy buy me a drink let alone buy me a limited edition Radiohead poster and 30 euro t-shirt, but he shoved my purse back in my bag and I had little say in what was happening. I felt a bit seedy and guilty and Danica Thrall-y but WAS LOVING LIFE TOO MUCH TO CARE!
He then begged me to go for dinner and I couldn't really say no after what he'd just given to me, even though it was midnight, I was pretty drunk and really not wanting food. Once again he told me I had free reign of the menu and could order what I wanted. I'm pretty naive when it comes to realising I'm on a date and I think it was when he started telling me he wouldn't want to be anywhere but here with me (sick in mouth) that I realised this wasn't just some friendly end to the evening. I stuck with ordering a brownie whilst he had a massive fish platter and made a swift exist with a full belly and radiohead merch in hand.
So the moral of the story is, as it always is in Paris, LIVE THAT DREAM AND GO STAND OUTSIDE RADIOHEAD
disclaimer: I am NOT promoting the gold digger life style, leave that to rappers' groupies.

When I went home recently I kept seeing these adverts and realising she's driving through streets I walk around on Sundays. I'm living in a dreamworld
Brandy Melville is probably one of my favourite shops of Paris. It's styled upon the kind of Gossip Girl / The OC type girl and it makes me feel nostalgic and happy. Their policy is a bit disgusting, "One size fits fine": note the fine, not all. However their clothes are unbelievably comfy and effortless so I cannot stop going there, also the pricing is pretty decent, I think both these dresses ranged from around €20-€30 each.
