Taemin had distracted him enough not to think about his dad and thinks actually looked better now. “Can you? Really?” Minho asked, shrugging. “I didn’t fall for you because you were a romance expert so it’s okay” He assured him with a smile, he didn’t want to pressure him, he liked when Taemin planned things and surprised him with a side he didn’t see often. “No more teasing, promise”

“Fine by me. You keep teasing me like the little shit that you are and there won’t be any sex for you in the first place.” Even though Taemin threatened, it would be very hard to say no to Minho once they were at home and alone. His boyfriend’s mouth on his and everything else would be just a big lie, but... Taemin liked lying to himself like that and pretending that he wasn’t so weak for his Minho. I didn’t fall for you because you were a romance expert... Gee, thanks, Minho. “Nah, you fell for me because I have a great dick and gave you the best fuck of your life. “That’s the only reason? The hell...?” Taemin teased as he went back to heading towards his car. He knew exactly the ideas that were swarming Minho’s mind, which was why he liked his boyfriend so much... it was like his sexdrive never ended, but then again, he was starving, so sex could wait a little bit, right? “Alright, burgers and fries first, then.” He nodded, as he unlocked his car and slid behind the wheel. “Hey, I can be spontaneously romantic, what the fuck?” Except he couldn’t. He never could. Especially when for most of his life, he thought that love came in the form of gifts and things like that, all thanks to his stupid biological father. “Keep teasing me like that and there won’t be any romance. Just burgers and fries.”

Minho smiled against his mouth, moving his hand to his butt and groping it tightly before letting go, chuckling entertained. “Just in case anyone is wondering if that ass is single” He explained with a small shrug, kissing him again and wondering if staying out was a good idea. Taemin’s tongue always made him think of other things, he was too easily distracted by his man. “Boy toy, now you’re giving me ideas” He sighed, trying to take his brain out of there. “You have a romantic side?” He asked with a surprised expression, making fun of Taemin. “I’d pay to see that”

“I don’t think anyone is wondering that, but I’ll accept it.” Taemin laughed against Minho’s lips, before kissing him again. Even though he was the worst at showing his feelings, all he ever wanted was to make this man happy, even if it was by taking him out for burgers and fries after a shitty night. “What kind of ideas are we talking about here? Because I might be into them.” Again, he smirked on his boyfriend’s lips, but hearing when Minho said next made Taemin playfully shove him away. “Well fuck you too, asshole. I even wrote you a letter and put a ring on it. Damn, man.”

“See, most dads are crap then” His friends’ dad were also jerks, although well, he didn’t have many friends for a start so maybe the statistics were not his forte this time. “You do look amazing” He appreciated the way he looked, shrugging. “I might show you off a little, we could get burgers and fries to go and eat them at home, or you know, actually have a date. Eat out, take a walk, I don’t know. I don’t feel like going home yet” He needed some more fresh air because he didn’t want to go home upset, he didn’t want those vibes on the one place he liked being happy.

“In that case, I’ll let you show me off, then.” Joke or not, Taemin was a vain man... and any excuse he had to be complimented, he would take it. Even if it came with an attempt to try and make Minho less upset about the last hour or so. “Let’s have a date, then Kim Minho-ssi.” He pulled Minho closer, placing his boyfriend’s hand on his waist as he stole another kiss from his lips, this time letting his tongue taste him for a brief moment. “Show me me off to everyone like your little boy toy.” He chuckled. “Let’s go to that place near the pier... we liked their fries, remember? Then we’ll take a walk and I’ll show you my romantic side.” Which didn’t come out often, but anything for MInho.

“It totally was, I already knew that” Minho was cranky now and he knew it wasn’t Taemin’s fault, but fuck it, he was allowed to be upset a little, right? “You got lucky” He said attempting a smile, but it was probably a really fake one. He couldn’t help but being bitter, and he took a deep breath because he knew he should let it go and not ruin the night for them. “The best kind of asshole though” He assured him because he was really grateful for Taemin being there tonight. “Burgers and fries, that sounds like something that will make this night better” He agreed, sighing “I’m afraid he already did but I’ll make sure to forget about it. It’s not like he’s been part of my life enough to ruin it, right?” The man had already done that the second he abandoned him.

Taemin was probably not going to hear the end of this soon, but he knew that Minho had every right to be upset, so he didn’t try to change the subject. If his boyfriend wanted to be angry, then he should be angry. “Eh... not so much, because I also have Hodong who is a huge pile of shit, so.” He shrugged. Maybe having an asshole of a father made up really amazing people or whatever. Not really though? Because Joon was awesome without even trying. “You sure you want to go? If you’re not in the mood we can go home. I just figured we could eat since we were already outside and I look amazing.” He teased, trying to distract his boyfriend a little.

Once they were out, Minho was finally able to take a deep breath. “I’m actually pissed and annoyed and I don’t want to see him ever again, meeting him was a waste of time, nothing new, just like I expected him to be” He told his boyfriend, not even caring about looking back at the man who claimed that wanted to reconnect with his son. “Are all dads like this? Because if that’s so, then all dads are fucked up” He commented, holding tighter his hand. “Thanks for being there with me, though, I was scared I would end up punching him but you’re much more smarter than I am to say things” And for Minho it had always been hard to express himself so he appreciated Taemin’s presence.

“It was not a waste of time.” Taemin shrugged. “At least now you know how much of an asshole he is.” Which--was sort of what he had been trying to keep Dal from doing and it made him a complete hypocrite, but Taemin decided that for once, this wasn’t about him and tried focusing on Minho. “You know that mine isn’t.” And by that, he meant Seungmin not Hodong, of course. Taemin reached into his pocket for his car keys, nodding as his boyfriend thanked him for being there. “Anytime.” He leaned in, pressing a kiss on Minho’s cheek, then stealing a peck from his lips. “I’m just an asshole with a sharp tongue.” He chuckled. “Do you want to go somewhere and grab something to eat though? I am hungry. C’mon, we’ll grab some burgers and beers or I’ll fry you some pork belly... Let’s just not let him ruin the night for you.”

Minho actually chuckled at the comparison of a drama because honestly it was the most stupid excuse he had ever heard. And then the right question was made, of course, Taemin being as smart as he was dared to ask what Minho had been wondering for a long time. What did his father want from him? After so long, why was he suddenly interested in him? “Of course I didn’t expect that but it’s a start, isn’t it? I was hoping you’d give me a chance son, so we could get to know each other. Maybe meet your sisters if you want, your family. You’re my heir, after all, you should receive what you deserve, what I couldn’t give you while growing up” So he meant money, and a facade of being the good dad he never was. Minho stood up, grabbing Taemin’s hand so he would follow him. “I’m not interested in your family, in your money or being your heir, so we are done here”

It was so damn annoying how both of their biological fathers thought that money would fix everything. Sure, money was good, but having an actual present father would have been better... and if Minho didn’t take money from Taemin, he was sure that his boyfriend wouldn’t take money from a total stranger, which was what made him chuckle at the offer. When Minho stood up, still taking his hand so that Taemin would do the same, the older man followed him, brushing his hair away from his face and letting his boyfriend say his piece. “Maybe next time just don’t walk out on your kid? And don’t worry, if he wants to talk to you again, he’ll contact you, so don’t bother, alright?” With that, Taemin stepped away from the table and headed to the door with his boyfriend. “You okay?”

Minho was very glad Taemin was there because he was being way more civil than Minho could ever be, and by the look in his father’s eyes he could tell he was getting nervous, that he knew his excuses would not find a good reception. “As I said, I was young, stupid, easy to manipulate, my family did all they could to hide her… to hide you from me, they didn’t want that future for me and even set up a marriage for me, one of convenience for the company, for everyone. They were all over me, so yeah, it might sound like I could have done more, and maybe I should.. But I was young…” That was no excuse for Minho, at all, and the more the other talked the more upset he got. “So you decided to stay in your castle while my mother abandoned me, you had a son thrown to foster care and you didn’t care” He was trying to stay calmed, he really was, but it got more difficult with every second passing. “I didn’t know she left you, I only found out she had left you and died when it was too late. I tried looking for you and if it weren’t because you went to Korea last year I would have never known you were here” Minho just looked at him “Well, now you know I’m here and now you know I want nothing to do with you”

It was actually funny when stupid parents thought they could easily fool fully grown men with some words here and there. “I’m pretty sure my mom has seen a Korean drama with that plot. You want to maybe try that again?” Young and naive was an easy way out and he knew that Minho deserved more. Especially since Taemin knew how hard his youth had been, regardless of his father being there or not. “You know that Minho already has a problem with you and you coming here and giving him all of this crap doesn’t help your case at all, man.” He shrugged, trying to keep himself cool so he wouldn’t overstep or anything. “I happen to know that money opens any goddamn door for you. If you have money---like you say you have, you could’ve found him sooner.” He sighed, then shrugged. “I’m sure you didn’t come here thinking he would welcome you with open arms, right? What did you expect from this meeting anyways?”

Minho didn’t want to roll his eyes at his own boyfriend but he ended up doing it anyways because there was no need to explain what he meant. But still, he figured he was right and that this was the chance he got to finally explain himself. “Okay, fair enough, I guess I deserve it, but it wasn’t exactly like that” his father started. “We were young and foolish and thought love could conquer it all, our families turned their backs on us and soon enough we had you and no money to support ourselves. So yeah, I went back, but only because I wanted to be able to have a better job, a better position, for our family. Your mom just disappeared when I left, I could never find her again” Minho did roll his eyes this time, not even trying to hide how disgusted he was. “So you’re saying you went to your rich family and didn’t have the money or resources to find her again? Bullshit, you’re full of bullshit”

Taemin could understand Minho’s anger. He figured he would be ten times worse if he were talking to HoDong, just---ten times saltier, because that’s how he acted when he was angry. “He’s got a point there, man.” Taemin shrugged, moving one arm over Minho’s back and resting them over the back of his boyfriend’s chair. “You can’t expect us to sit here and understand that you had the resources to look for your kid twenty-something years later, but you couldn’t look for your ex back then. This is not a Korean drama and we’re not stupid.” Surely, Taemin didn’t want to overstep--this was Minho’s business and he could feel himself taking charge already and stealing the moment from his boyfriend, but getting angry and would not help Minho in this case. “He is not stupid.”

He appreciated Taemin’s efforts to distract him, he really did, but the second the man entered the restaurant he knew it was his father. Which made him want to throw up, honestly. He could see the resemblance, he could recognize him and in his mind, that was enough to fuck him up. His hand extended in front of him made him doubt, which was why he only pointed to the free seat, not really wanting to touch this man. He didn’t deserve for this to be easy, Minho was already making an effort but he wasn’t going to make things even easier for the bastard. Taemin was adorable and polite, of course, but Minho wasn’t in the mood for bullshit. “So you abandoned your wife and your baby to get back with your rich family and never thought of contacting them until now, right? Did I miss a part or did I got it right?”

Ooof... that was harsh. I mean... not that Taemin would have been any nicer if he were in Minho’s shoes, but it was different when he wasn’t the one in charge. Or this wasn’t about him. “What he meant is---” He said while glancing from his boyfriend to the man sitting across from them. “---Why don’t you tell him your version of the story and he’ll decided if he believes you or not.” Taemin intervened while leaning back against his seat and crossing his arms. He knew this man had pulled a number on Minho and his family... the real question was: why? And would we believe him?

“It’s always a good excuse to stay home, why should I let others see you looking like that when I could have you all night to myself?” It was lame, but honestly, if Taemin told him to stay then he would, any excuse not to meet his father. “And everyone stares at your ass and I’m kind of proud of being the one who taps that” That’s why Minho didn’t have any troubles with his boyfriend looking all hot in public. “Yeah, I mean, I’m not excited” He said as he held his hand and moved out of the apartment. “You’ll definitely know if I want to leave, I can’t be nice for shit so yeah, should be interesting” plus, Minho wasn’t planning on staying all night with this man, he would hear what he had to say and if he wasn’t interested, then he wouldn’t have any reason to stay.

“Because my dearest boyfriend... you should always make people aware of how lucky you are for being with someone as hot and amazing as me.” Again, he smirked at Minho because well... Taemin didn’t have much of an ass, but he was very proud of his broad shoulders and back, so that was that. He threw an arm around Minho’s shoulders and pulled him close so they could walk out. He knew this night wasn’t going to be a walk in the park for either of them, but Minho had been there for him for so many times, the least he could do was go there and look pretty while these two talked. “You can be nice... sometimes.” Which was true, Minho just didn’t like to pretend to be nice. 

They stepped into the car and Taemin drove them to the restaurant in question. They had a reservation under Minho’s name so it was easy to get a table and wait. Taemin ordered drinks for them both and tried distracting his boyfriend with some random conversation about interior design since it felt proper due to them moving in together. It didn’t take long for another man to join them, introducing himself and extending his hand to Minho---and it sucked to admit, but Taemin could actually see the resemblance between both men. “Hey. I’m Taemin, nice to meet you.” He said when the attention was shifted to him.

Taemin gave one last glance at himself in the mirror before grabbing his car keys. He knew that this wasn’t about him, as much as he would easily find ways to make it about himself, but he also did not want to look shabby in front of Minho’s dad. Again, not that the man’s opinion mattered to him, but Taemin just didn’t want to look shabby in front of anyone. Once he had his keys, he moved to the living room, where his boyfriend was waiting.

“Ready?” He asked as he slipped on his jacket and then motioned his head towards the door. Hopefully this wouldn’t be a shitty situation for Minho… and if that man was ever an asshole to his boyfriend, Taemin was more than ready to cut him with his smart words. “Which restaurant you agreed to meet him again?”

Minho wasn’t sure how to feel about this dinner. Months and months of ignoring this man and now he would meet him and actually have dinner with him. He had no idea of what to expect and he wasn’t even sure if he wanted to meet him, to face the man that abandoned his mom and himself when he was only a kid, the one to blame for leaving her in poorness, perhaps the one to blame for his own mother abandoning him when she couldn’t afford to have a kid. He had a lot of hate for this man inside, and he feared that he wouldn’t be able to control himself. Despite saying how much he didn’t care, he did have a lot of feelings towards his father and none of them were nice, and this whole getting to know each other? It sounded like a joke, like he was disrespecting his mother’s memory for meeting the man who caused it all. Thankfully, Taemin would be there with him because he was sure he couldn’t do this alone. 

“You look nice, almost make me want to cancel and stay here all night” He attempted to joke, hoping it would hide how really nervous he was about all of this. “One in downtown that I don’t like. I figured I shouldn’t ruin my favorite restaurant by meeting him there, you know?”

“You know that saying that I look nice should not be an excuse to stay home, right?” Taemin chuckled as he adjusted his hair once again, before smirking at his boyfriend. “Because I always look nice and we still leave the house and all of that.” And Taemin knew better than to just hold a grudge against his boyfriend’s father like he did to his own, but this story was very much one-sided and maybe Minho was taking his mother’s side, but it wouldn’t hurt to listen to what the guy had to say. “You okay?” He asked as he slid his hand down Minho’s, dangling his car keys on his free hand. “I got you, alright? We’ll go there and give this guy a chance, but the second you want to leave, let me know.” He reassured the younger man, then pressed a kiss to his cheek as they headed to the elevator, making sure both Minho and him were bundled up because of the cold, even though they’d be heading to his car in a second and it would be warm and nice there.
